  1. Normally that is what I would assume but just from experience, it has seemed to me related to skyrim there were far more videos based on 3ds max than blender, which is the reason I bring it up. It's the only reason I even used 3ds max originally for skyrim modding because the only complete tutorials were for it, and blender modeling for that game were a lot fewer.
  2. I figured new options is something that will require the new GECK. I am just making a suggestion kind of. One thing that would be cool would be an option to put wall coverings up like paintings only that are more like wall "rugs" (for lack of a better example" that cover the whole tile or most of it but is flat like a rug. This would be ideal. But what I was thinking is using one of the existing wall textures and modifying the inside texture to not be so scrappy. anything in mind? I have a few ideas. Wallpapers would be cool, or even just simple plain interior wall looks would be nice. Since I posted this I have been able to start successfully modding some textures, so I might play with some ideas for reskinning some wall tiles myself.
  3. I was going to add to the previous comment that I think if your defense is high, it actually doesn't get attacked as much. If it's by design wouldn't it actually make sense though? When you go and attack a place, one with super high defenses vs one with low defenses, wouldn't you go for the one with low defenses (assuming you're not level 50 and very geared anyway) It's human (or mutant as the case may be) nature to be deterred when you see 50 turrets and guards around a settlement.
  4. My question is, as I prepare to get back into playing with 3d modeling for the purposes of modding, I want to know whether Blender is a viable option for creating items, modifying them and such for Fallout 4. I have played with 3ds Max prior to this for modding Skyrim, but to be honest the version of 3ds max I had was an educational version which I no longer have access to, and the near-$200 a month subscription isn't really an option for me. I looked at Maya LT for this purpose as it's a reasonably priced subscription but free being even better and I think I see more people talking about Blender in general than Maya, it seems to be the better choice. I'm also curious as to whether there will be a reasonable number of tutorials on blender for fallout 4. Actually I think finding tutorials on modeling itself wont' be so hard but specificaly working with nif files for Fallout would be handy as I am not sure how similar it will be working with the format from Fallout 4 in comparison to Skyrim. Just looking for some opinions and thoughts on this, maybe even if there is someone who is already doing these things in blender it would help. i know that there is no G.E.C.K. for the game released yet so I dont' expect many to be doing this yet but one can hope! Thanks
  5. I would like to see or know how to make a mod where you can either add wall coverings like wallpapers or have walls that have inner sides that aren't so scrappy. Could be wall paper that is fitting that isn't so pristine looking but worn, but still better than the sheet metal or bare wood.
  6. Your settlements can already be attacked in the Vanilla game. If you haven't seen any attacks yet, you're either lucky or haven't been playing too far into it. I see my settlements getting attacked quite often, even if I'm away I'll get a notification that "such and such settlement is being attacked!"
  7. I did this and funny thing is, the hands were pink on one of the characters also and I copied the files you stated, plus the hand textures but for some reason the head texture on one of the models remains pink. Any ideas?
  8. Ok I'm using SG Hair pack (the consolidated version) and with the hairholic version I found that it clipped through the armor on the character's back badly so I took it upon myself to try and modify the hair to fit better. I was able to basically do this but the problem, and I know it's probably lack of knowledge here, is that the hair now shows up as the original placement and then the new "modified" version is on top. Is there something that I did wrong that caused this problem that is an easy one to fix? Perhaps if there are hair mod tutorials out there it would help but so far I haven't found any good ones. Thanks in advance. S4
  9. Ok I have found the information regarding the CK and how to set up a custom race there, I do know how I can Import, modify or create models in 3DS Max, and nifskope. I am wanting to create a race mod and create a body that's unique, by modifying a body that already exists. My questions are as follows. 1. If I use an existing model for the body, and modify it, are there any special things I need to do with it outside of skinning, setting up custom textures and using nifskope to prepare it for skyrim? I'm assuming if I use an existing body, all the animations, and such would still apply to the skeleton and nothing new woulld need to be created. Is this true? 2. I understand I would export the body parts and textures to a new folder for the race. Are there any other files other than the model itself that need to be saved to the data folder? My goal is to create a cat like race (yes another one :P ) adding of course, cat ears and possibly a tail (if I can figure out how to get the tail to work with animations) and I want the face to have it's own options (eyes, nose..etc.) Lastly, is there a tutorial (I've searched and searched for this) for modding the bodies and heads of skyrim characters? That would help a lot. I'm sure there's more I'll need to know but I think this much will get me started at least. Thanks, ~S4
