  1. not entirely sure what is causing the issue other than Gas Masks of the Wasteland, and when in first person there's a constant desaturation filter applied, even with it disabled in the settings holotape. I've tried enabling then disabling the desaturation filter and it persists. in third person the filter is gone, but when i go back to first person it reapplies. is there a command to force disable the overlay with borking other things, or some other way to remove the annoying filter.
  2. turns out that it didn't exist due to it not launching. so it IS launching tesv.exe but it disappears after a second or two, and it only shows up in task manager (as shown in the video) added dxdiag if anyone needs that for whatever reason. also added the event viewer report to hopefully have somewhat of an idea.
  3. it launches from steam and the skyrim launcher pops up, but when i press play on the launcher it says it's playing for a second or two and then never launches skyrim, i also just had an idea, isn't there supposed to be a load order text file somewhere in the skyrim files? if so what is it called cause i think that may have been the issue (i just had this thought about 5 minutes ago) also about those solutions that chenoah posted, i tried those a second time after initially doing it, it didn't seem to work.
  4. yeah i've done that exact method for clean installing multiple times now. and i don't think they're going to release any updates for the original skyrim any time soon, and i'm fairly certain that they haven't released updates in quite some time now. unless steam is an outdated version of the game it should be the most current version.
  5. yes i did in fact delete it from the folder itself rather than through steam, and i haven't reinstalled any of the mods yet due to the vanilla game not even working. as for checking the verifying cache whenever i check it, it always fails to validate 1 file, then downloads 752 bytes of data, but i go to check if it worked by checking cache again, it says it has failed to validate 1 file again and will reacquire it and either downloads 752 bytes or 0 bytes again. Well i actually thought about what i wanted, and i'm only going to run the Lykaios Race mod after running the Unofficial Skyrim Patch. So i found something in the steam folder itself, and it's called debug.log apparently Skyrim is looking for a settings version 1 (not entirely sure what that means) error is "[1228/152134.192:ERROR:settings.cc(324)] Settings version is not 1" i'm not sure where these settings are, but clearly something isn't loading right due to the settings not being the correct version, and seeing as how steam isn't downloading the broken file for me, I have absolutely no clue way of fixing it.
  6. Okay, so i was playing around with mods for a while, and it worked just fine, i wanted to start a new player game without as much mods (graphical, and one race mod plus Unofficial Skyrim Patch), so i put all of my saves that had the old mods into a archive folder, and disable a whole bunch of mods that i wasn't planning on using. I know that these were working before in the load order they were in, so i figured that only disabling the ones i didn't want would be fine, i open up the launcher press play, steam says i'm playing Skyrim for a few seconds then says i'm not, figured that i'd do a test without any mods, still CTD after pressing play on launcher. checked game cache multiple times, each time saying i have 1 file that failed to validate, did a fresh install, again testing without any mods still CTD. looked up my issue on YouTube, full uninstall including from my documents and appdata/local then reinstalled it. still CTD. at this point i have absolutely no idea what exactly is wrong with it. because even after full uninstall it still wants to CTD after pressing play in launcher. also i don't know if this technically counts as a mod related troubleshoot since it's after installing mods, and wanting to do a light mod playthrough.
