Re: "You must close all open Dialog Boxes before saving". I had the same problem with fallout 4 CK, my research uncovered that remote desktop programs can cause this, "Team Viewer" has been named, however for me I found it was a program I was using to manage multiple monitors called "Ultramon". Once I switched it off I could save, then I just turned it back on after the save. Hope this helps others.
