  1. I'm building a new computer soon and while I can transfer all my mods, I've had this computer for years and don't remember all the various off site requirements like what versions of Microsoft C++ plugins are commonly used by mods. Is there a list or archive somewhere with all the general off site stuff we use in modding? Really don't want to start from scratch Again.
  2. Awesome thanks. Sounds like Vortex ended up becoming the new NMM after all. Never liked the micromanaging of manual downloads either. Guess I'll update everything and see if Vortex can use my old mods. Starting from scratch and hunting down all my old mods would be such a time sink.
  3. Its been a while since I booted up Skyrim. Last time Vortex had just been released and wasn't properly functional enough to replace NMM yet. Bethesda was constantly spamming Creation Club updates that would break SKSE and we would all have to update not only that, but any associated mods as well. And good mod authors were dropping out of the scene left and right, some even taking their mods with them sadly. It was the right time to take a break after half a year of fun with mods. I'm no beginner to the modding scene, I never run with less than 200 plugins and I even built a pretty great mid tier gaming computer so my poor laptop wouldn't explode. I had all the tools, extensions and cleaners to keep things from breaking too badly and generally knew what to do whenever I had a problem. But now I find myself at a bit of a loss. Having left at a time when big changes were being made, several things are different or just gone now. Nexus Mod Manager is gone and while I still have it and all my old mods and tools on my hard drive, I doubt they will work right after Steam inevitably forces Skyrim to update. So I figured I'd just ask here where I should start. What mod manager should I be using now and can I transfer all my old mods from NMM? Do I still need LOOT and SKSE or have they been integrated with managers? Do I still use SSEEdit and Fallrim Tools to clean things or are there better options now? Are there any major patches or changes I need to get? And does Bethesda still break SKSE on the regular and if so how do I prevent their automatic updates? Sorry for the wall of text, I'm sure I'll get back into the swing of things, I'm just not sure where to start.
  4. Hey, I just built my first gaming PC and I’m having a big problem with Skyrim. I have a MSI Radeon RX 480 graphics card, an Intel core i5-7500 processor, and a ViewSonic XG2701 27" gaming monitor. My setup handles newer games beautifully, but Skyrim… is Skyrim. I’ve done a lot of digging and I know my PC is trying to render faster than Skyrim will let it, and I need to enable VSync, but I have no idea how to do that. I’ve tried many things: editing the SkyrimPrefs ini by adding iVSyncPresentInterval=1, iVSyncPresentInterval=0, and ipreventinterval=1 under display (all at separate times) and none of that worked. I turned FreeSync on in my monitor’s settings and that did nothing. I’ve fiddled around with AMD Radeon Settings changing various combinations of: framerate target control 60 FPS, OpenGL Triple Buffering, Wait for Verticle Refresh, among other things but nothing works. The game won’t stop Spazzing out and randomly crashing. Water flickers when you look at it, water flashes in and out of existence randomly in the air, creatures are frozen, the sound stutters and physics are completely messed up. I’m sorry for this long post, but what am I missing? How do I turn on VSync and get this poorly coded mess of a game to function on modern technology?
  5. Yeah, I’m starting to think I’m a bit in over my head, but I’m determined to learn how to mod the game. I figured a good place to start would be to check out and edit existing mods to get a feel for it (improving performance is just something I always try to do. 100+ plugins on a laptop doesn’t always work well)
  6. Ok, I’m new to the creation kit and I’m not even sure what to search the forums for to get the answer I need (so sorry if this has been asked and answered a million times already) I have numerous large mods with items I love, but I’m done with the rest of, and I’d like to know how to edit the mod so I can keep what I want, and get rid of the rest (like after you beat a huge quest mod, but only want to keep one of the rewards). I’m running on a laptop so the less mod data, the better the performance. Thanks for your time in advance.
  7. I would try this: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/22274/? It works on all races, just activate the "cheat" in the mcm to get it, set the night vision to a hotkey and you will see almost perfectly in the dark.
  8. I love the real flying mod, I don’t play without it, but I’m tired of looking at the ugly compact wings on my back. I’ve tried downloading the add-on to make them invisible a number of times, but whenever I download it… well this happens: http://s205.photobucket.com/user/sikiji/media/2015-11-09_00001.jpg.html It flickers across the screen whenever I move at all, whether in 1st or 3rd person. I don’t know what could be causing this, does anyone have a fix?
  9. I looked through the font packs, and while they look nice, I didn’t find any bigger than the standard font vanilla uses. If anything, the custom fonts are all smaller. Though to be honest, there might not be much that can be done to make text bigger given the limited space in the games text boxes. I'm no modder of course, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the case.
  10. Yeah, I have SkyUI, and tried changing the text size to large in the MCM, but I didn't notice any difference.
  11. I'm using a 32" HDTV and unless I'm sitting really close (which is bad for your eyes when you play as many hours a day as I do) I have a real hard time reading the tiny text in the inventory menus. Is there a mod, or maybe just some setting change/ INI tweak that I just don’t know about that will make the text bigger?
  12. Just tried the Relighting Skyrim + Enhanced Lighting for ENB combo. It works great, I can see again and things still look good, thank you for the suggestion. :D
  13. The vanilla lighting is just terrible, everything has a bright glair on it, lights in the wrong place, I needed a lighting mod. I'm playing on a laptop though so I needed something that wouldn’t hurt performance like ENBs. I got Realistic Lighting Overhaul because it was so highly recommended, and it really is beautiful... but only during the day. The nights and dungeons are way too dark for my taste, always straining my eyes just too see, I'm starting to get a headache from it. Is there a good alternative to RLO that has brighter dark areas but still looks good running low spec settings?
