  1. Alright, how to begin explaining this.. I for a long time was plagued with the infinite load screens between maps, quick travel, game load... etc. etc.. Incidentily it hindered my gameplay a lot, but by happen circumstance I figured something out. The HDD in which I dedicated just to my Skyrim that it was stored on, being how my Skyrim directory is over 45 GB's, I run a lot of mods, especially HD content I have pretty much replaced everything in game with 4k or higher textures. My mod list is at least 30-35 items long as well... However my HDD failed. I fortunately was able to salvage my Skyrim.. I purchased a new 3TB Seagate Barracuda 7600 RPM 64MB Cache HDD with a 6GBPS transfer rate. Installed it and migrated over my Skyrim.. I instantly went from infinite load screens to loading in less than 60 seconds.. Quick trip loads average about 45 seconds. Caves, Leaving towns, etc. average about 25 seconds to load. Loading game from main screen takes about 30 seconds. My FPS vastly improved as well. I can run Skyrim on full settings as well now. Unlike before I had to sacrifice to gain perfomance improvment. Also I no longer get in game lags or screen skips, etc.. So unofficialy because who am I to say right, will state that I believe certain HDDs, possibly Western Digital Drives cause a lot of issues with this game. This is just from my experience. Hopefully this will help some players. This is an overview of my system specs. For reference purposes. The only difference between then and now is the HDD I was using.. 2. Art imitates life my man, it goes further back than just movies n shows. Books depict it, ancient lore from Europe. There was always a watch guard that would announce the comings and goings of people, merchants, nobles and travelers, hence why they had Watchtowers with signals and horns and so and so forth. Kind of like Paul Revere riding through the town on horseback with the British are coming the British are coming because he received a candlelit signal from someone, 1 if by land 2 If by sea.... People just don't pull these kind of details out of thin air. It's like dragons, dragons are found throughout many different cultures histories for thousands and thousands of years, from Asian to European and so on n so forth. Yet we can have a courier who can seem to know whenever, wherever and whatever town/area it is we show up in to deliver us a Letter from a friend on where to find our next word of power right? But it's a stretch to say a population of people or town wouldn't know when we were coming.... And it wouldn't take 30 years to make a game that in depth, just one hell of a research, development and programming team. Skyrims been out a year and half and look what modders have done to add to it. From what I am seeing there is a 4-6 year gap In between each of the parts in TES series. And this is what they came up with in 5-6 years between Skyrim and Oblivion? Seems a little short to me on final production.
  3. You've never seen A Knight's tale where the champions are greeted by fans as they enter the towns for tournaments. An Army of Darkness where the local military are greeted by townsfolk with excitement and rejoice when they bring back the captured from whatever battle they were undergoing? The show Vikings, a Game of Thrones? Where they are celebrated after their raids and feast and rejoice and have merry old medieval times. These are just examples off the top of my head. Something that supports realism. We are the Dragonborn the savior of phuggin Skyrim and yet no one greets us as such. Doesn't seem right. Heroes should be welcomed, honored and rejoiced. Perhaps a song about us the savior for the bards to sing in local Inns and Taverns.
  4. I am running Skyrim on a 1.8ghz phenom quad core with 6gbs of DDR2 ram on 1920x1080 HD on a budget 1 GB DDR3 video card on near ultra settings with almost every HD mod out there and HD Texture DLC's. The game is not that taxing on a system, and in my personal opinion Tomb Raider 2013 looks better than Skyrim. My complaints aren't that the game is terrible, it's just lacking some key essential lore based stuff. I AM IN A MEDIEVAL AGE! I WANT SOME MEDIEVAL TIMES!! I'd like to see crowds of people roaring up to you cheering you on as you enter a city that you have helped from turmoil. Cheer on the Victor/Champion. I would like to be able to go into an Inn and actually order a meal from a wench in a dirty skirt and have a couple pints. Town Fairs and events. Like the one dude says on one quest, I haven't seen a jester in these parts for years. There aren't many of them around anymore! LIKE REALLY?! No jesters, what fun is that. The holds themselves are boring, large empty spaces with nothing going on but an old wench telling me to keep my dirty boots off her carpet n some stern house carl telling me they're keeping their eyes on me. Where are my town court hearings on local criminal activity. Hanging someone from the gallows, a beheading, tar and featherings? Or hell even locking someone up in the stocks for a bit for public humiliation. Knights Tournaments with swordfighting, bow and arrow challenges, hand to hand combat, jousting. I want horses to auto jump obstacles like one would in real life. Instead of getting stuck, having to stop back up then jump and press forward. I want there to be gender based romance aspects, where guys display interest in the female champion and hit on them. Same for female to male semi-sexual/romantical things happening, basically people throwing/offering themselves at the champion. You could find unicorns in Oblivion but not in Skyrim? What's the point in having all these boats sitting and floating around if you can't actually use em to go somewhere or do something. How about some realistic armor that actually needs to be repaired, either by a blacksmith or you using a smithing skill? I get to just run around in adamantium armor that never breaks. How about while in the middle of battle your favorite trusty weapon just happens to, oh s***... BREAK! and you need to smith a new one or have it repaired. Bow snaps, or string breaks. Or perhaps some armor that actually stops an arrow?! No matter how good of armor you make, they always get through. How about actually having to aim for that sweet spot in an enemies armor, perhaps that seam between the neck and the helmet? or in the eye, to bring them down. I want some mammoth beasts roaming around and no not mammoths I know this game has them. I want huge hulking raging beasts that you have to gather a small force of companions together to defeat. (They have'em in ESO, why not Skyrim?!) Minotaur's in oblivion roaming the plains ready to cut you down. Here ya get a couple giants roaming around, maybe some trolls, deer, foxes, some goats maybe, couple spiders, some giant roaches. An occasional dragon that pops up on you, that how unrealistically just doesn't snatch you off your horse, eat your lore lovin ass and toss your carcass to the side for the wolves. Some cracked out junkie mages or necromancers running around summoning skeletons and what not. Oblivion and Morrowind had bigger and badder bad guys and enemies to defeat than skyrim, you'd fine Giant Cyclops roaming the caves. How about a multi-target combat system when battling more than 1 enemy somewhere, chained attacks and combos instead of hack n slash until you kill this guy then chase this guy while getting raped by the other 3 around you. They could have done a lot better with the nature aspect as far as creatures and far better with the selection of enemies. It's so limited for such an immersive world. I've hob knobbed n tinkered around on these games for years but never really sticking to them, because I just found them unappealing as true to the word medieval RPGs. Never really got into Gothic either. I did like some of the Might and Magic games including the FPS/RPG Legends of Might and Magic online. I did like Dragonshard by Atari. Dragon Ages was alright as well.
  5. Yeah I forgot to mention the fact about the music being redundant and increasingly mundane. N the fact it seems it's voiced by a group of 5-10 people just using different tones and accents. I got tired of hearing 16 different NPC's with the same voice. Like I mentioned before about FF7, the size, music, environment, characters, and everything else. They were not afraid to use 3 Discs. Unheard of at the time for even Sony. Not to many games spanned more than 1 Disc. Heck Star Ocean had something like 6 Discs. We have Terabyte hard drives now and Blu-ray drives and discs capable of 50 or more GBs. Expand the game base. I would definitely let 100GBs heck even 200 GBs of HDD space go to use for a game if it was worth it. I am already using 21GBs for Skyrim. Why provide us with such vast storage capability if they aren't going to let us get the best use out of it. They need to stop limiting themselves on size. Could you imagine the world we could interactively live in and experience if they produced that size of a game. Look at the world we experienced in FF7 with 3 700MB discs. Could you imagine what they could of done if they had the power of 50GBs. And what happened to the ratings panel. Just because GTA San Andreas had an Adults only rating didn't stop it from selling like hot cakes. It seems people are afraid to make Rated-R movies anymore let alone Adults Only games. Considering most of us hardcore Gamers are in our 20s-50s. Why not right? Most of us got to help create and start the Gaming Generation.
  6. Me personally, I put a lot of hours into these games, and like it has been stated, I want something easy on the eyes. Some of the MMORPGs I play have sex change scrolls, so you can switch back n forth. Here it's more permanent so I go with the female gender. Mods have a lot to play into it as well. More female customization exists than male. It also sort of breaks the mold, kind of like Columbiana/Long Kiss Goodnight/Salt as to Mission Impossible/Jason Bourne/James Bond. Not to often do you see a female who looks good, kicks ass and gets the job done. Yet we wonder why Lara Croft and Tomb Raider was such a major hit, and has permanency in our memories.
  7. I understand being fixed by mods and modders. By all rights why does it have to be fixed? Ask yourselves that, we as consumers however granted the power of having access to a modding system. Did we have to go out on our own and fix it. I am finding myself piling on mod after mod to just get it the way It should have been out of the box. Can't I just plug and play out of the box like I did the new Tomb Raider. A Game in which I could finally play without any real complaints other than damn I wish there was more to do after it was over. Skyrim just isn't challenging. The puzzles are actually really easy. The gap between player and enemies is massive, making it to simple to just plow through. What actually is challenging is figuring out how to layer and mix the mods necessary to play it that actually work together without conflict and crashing the game One of my better arguments to propose is, Final Fantasy VII will always be the game changer, letting the world know you don't need excessive, ever so impressive graphics to have one hell of a storyline and world experience that people are still undergoing and experiencing more than 16 years later. Heck last time I checked a copy of it was on Amazon for $250.00 A near 2 decade old Playstation One game for $250.00. I see Skyrim in the used bin for 12.99$ and will see it fade off the radar into an, Oh yeah that's right I forgot all about that game in 5 years tops. I don't sound like a role player. @_@ I was besting Final Fantasy on a portable gray brick called the Gameboy. Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy 1-9 because X, X2 sucked. Suikoden 1-5. On top of playing Turn based RPG board games, dice games since I was 9. Speaking of dice style games Neverwinter Nights and Neverwinter Nights 2 based on DnD rules are two of and will stay two of my favorites of the pc RPG game genre. What happened to games that actually had Expansion Packs.
  8. You know, I have been playing Skyrim for a couple months now, gotten into some serious modding. IMO this game lacks so many decent features, I am glad to see them dropping Skyrim from their platter at Bethesda Games. The game has been out for about a year and a half and yet it lacks sooooooooooooo much. The melee combat system in itself is difficult due to shortage of a targeting system, you just hack and slash until you hit something. I'm tired of throwing myself off cliffs and into gulley's/valley's when I do a power attack and or miss an attack on someone. The bow targeting is off by a little bit to the left so you have to learn to over adjust when you fire just to hit the target. The battles in this game are ridiculously underpowered, and the monsters you have to defeat you can cut through like butter. Where are the epic boss battles and realm invasions. I wanted to see some Huge bosses. Each dungeon lacks in number of bad guys. I want large epic swarms hell bent on defeating me, or stopping me from completing my quests, I want blood spattered brutal mayhem when raiding a dungeon. Why is it I can attack from my horse, however there's no battles or enemy encounters that take place on horseback. I would really love some mounted player on mounted enemy battle action. How about some dragon mounted aerial battles? Considering you can ride them in the Dragonborn DLC. The roleplaying aspect falls short of an actual RPG. Where is the running jump? I can't jump while I run, do you know how difficult it is to run up a mountain have to stop then wait a second then jump an obstacle then run some more. The leveling system is shot, I have never played a game with a worse leveling system. And they try to cover it up with Legendary skills. Please come on. Yes the environment is immersive, but again lacks so much realism. Where are the drunken brawls you would find in a tavern or alehouse? Or some street action you would find in the alleys or side streets of cities. There's no entertainment. Where are my wenches at? Why can't I sit down and play some lore friendly games in a tavern? Chess, cards, something who knows just something. To me they spent more time on the look of the game than the actual game itself. I want better, and I doubt Elder Scrolls Online will do it for me
