  1. If you know of the symphonic metal band Nightwish, then you may recognize that the members tend to (half-coincedntally) resemble possible fantasy characters. I was hoping someone could re-create them as NPC's (and likely make the vocalist also a character preset to use to play), and lead the group as companions. Vocalist Floor Jansen (Nord Valkaryie Warrior) Keyboardist Toumas Holopainen (Breton or Imperial Sorcerer/Magician) Drummer Jukka Nevalainen (Imperial Pirate) Bassist Marco Hietala (Nord Viking) Guitarist Emppu Vuorinen (Bosmer Rogue) Instrumentalist Troy Donockley (Breton Druid) Would be neat to see what any of you come up with! (As busy as I am lately I don't have the time or resources to do this myself otherwise I would!)
  2. Hi guys! Back in April ('18) I released a utility called the Skyrim Character Developer for Roleplayers. Just earlier today I updated it to 0.8. It's basically a spreadsheet file themed after the Skyrim UI, with lots of fun bells and whistles regarding fleshing out a character's build, traits and background. I was curious what kind of cool ideas you guys might come up with using it, whether it be very ironic builds or very fleshed out stereotypical ones, or whatever mix of the two. Here's a link to my mod page if you'd like to try it out: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/90685 I'd love to see you guys share the ideas you come up with using this!
  3. His name is Jude. As a teenager he was recruited into a highly-specialized military guild run by the Storm cloaks for specialized assassination missions. He became almost unnaturally skillful in stealth, archery, lockpicking, light armor, and speech. He spent years doing very delicate missions against various targets among the thalmor and the imperials, especially during the invasion of Skyrim. (he is not the dragonborn) He does not wear armor on any regular basis and prefers to look like your middle to low class common folk, drawing no attention to himself. However, when he does run missions, he wears a light armor mashup (from immersive armor mashup mod). He cannot give away to anybody in public that he is who he is. Here's the thing though h He has since escaped the guild, wanting nothing to do with them anymore. He does not enjoy killing anybody and wishes to avoid having to do so ever again. But something happened to him. One day he woke up in the wild, with a completely bank memory of who he is. He has no memory of his skills or his past. So now he will have to stumble upon people and missions that can reveal this. So, I don't want to make this guy a Mary Sue, where he has these skills and no weaknesses. I need some ideas of what kinds of weaknesses I can give him to realistically counter his keen combat skills (I'm talking near legendary if not certainly). Also, I don't know if I want to play him as having lost his memory or just wanting to avoid the guild and killing but having missions around Skyrim draw him into situations where once again he must. I just need some ideas around his motivations toward the kinds of quests there are around the province. edit: also, what kinds of mods might be best for a character and circumstance like this? ideas?
  4. The Amazing Follower Tweaks mod should let you be able to make any NPC a follower. Just be careful because you might break certain quests if you lure certain NPC's away from where they are supposed to be. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15524/?
  5. I've done a bit further searching and found a warpaint mod which includes The Crow pattern... http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/3785/? Also, one option for creating this kind of character could include Nightingale Armor without the hood, particularly this Dark Nightingale Armor here - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/313/? This is probably the closest lore-rooted outfit I can think of for the character, though I suppose the Crow doesn't necessarily have to look like Eric did - they could look much different but with generally the same type of face thing going on, whether by paint, scars, or whatever else. (Imagine possibly a Forsworn Crow for example) If I were to ever play this character, I might use the Imaginator mod and desaturate a lot of the colors in the game, to kind of recreate the pallette they used in the first movie, and probably see what other mods exist out there for making the environment more gloomy and drab.
  6. How has nobody made this yet? It doesn't necessarily have to be Eric Draven (as awesome as it would be to have his outfit in the game), since according to lore "The Crow" chooses others too. Does this idea give an itch to any of you modders out there (assuming it hasn't been brought up yet)?
  7. I would attempt to make this myself if only the CK would/could load on my system. Instead it hangs indefinitely and locks my computer up. This is one of the reasons why I chose to request it here. On top of that, I don't have the time to put together something like this even if the CK did run on my computer. Keep in mind, this is just one room so far. I'm posting here to hopefully find a player-home modder who can work with me, and bounce ideas off of each other for what the rest of the home would be like. That tower is nice, but again, lacks a great many essential features (and even correct atmosphere) that I've had in mind. I figure an archaeologist might use mannequins to display rare armor items of some sort. You never know. :)
  8. No Good Homes For Archaeologist Build? I began a game with an archaeologist character build. The idea was very Indiana Jones inspired, with a very "I love to study lore via books, artifacts, science, dwemer tech" touch to it. Then I went over the Nexus to look for a player home that might reflect this kind of character... I found some wonderful selections for what they are, but it was extremely difficult to find one that focused on having an extensive library, study office, artifact display museum, etc, and not be a massive castle/palace/manor that takes ages to get around in and is way over the head of a rather simple type of character. A "library" to most of the more reasonable homes consists of only about 3 - 5 bookshelves in a corner in a random room or across from an enchanting table somewhere, and in most of those homes, the atmosphere doesn't really reflect somebody who has a studyworm intellectual personality (dark, musky, stone floor/wall atmospheres, poorly lit, etc). Now, if I've overlooked something and anybody knows of a player home that does exist, which does reflect this type of character well, feel free to reply with links. I've been looking for days and have consulted some of you in chat for help. They have been wonderful, but usually tends to lack certain essential features that I feel are important to get right for this type of build. My Idea - Starting With The Study Hall So, my next resort: I would like to request someone who can actually create a place for a character like this. My instinct imagines this player home to be built into the side of a hill or mountain near Markarth, the architecture Somewhat Dwemer in style, but not too much. I imagine the interior floors and walls might not be bare, musty stone (at least not completely), but had been remodeled for a somewhat more sophisticated style of living (not luxury, but just more comfortable and decently lit). I don't have a completely developed idea of the entire interior, but I do have a starting point, which would probably be the character's favorite room, where he spends most of his time - the study hall. This room is rectangular in shape, has bookshelves lining the walls along the sides, tables, glass display cases, book stands, mannequins, and other types of item displays sitting throughout the center of the room space (either in isles or in some kind of other, non-organized pattern as to express the character just having been too busy to make it look very organized). The idea is that the owner comes into this room often and spends a lot of time examining rare artifacts and treasure, reading books about them, and about where they come from, etc, and occasionally tinkers and experiments with the items he has to learn about them. Now, the entrance of the room is at one end of this hall chamber, and at the other end of it, is the player's dedicated office space. This area might be divided from the main display area, or it might not be. The desk is a bit large, full of papers, some books, and various nick-nack-type items that are either inspirational for his passion, and/or things he is currently most focused on. On the wall behind the desk (desk facing toward the main area of the hall, not toward the wall), are maps of locations in Skyrim. Maybe one large one of Skyrim and some smaller ones of some specific locations assumed you are researching. Anyway, this is the general idea. This is not a request for things to be EXACTLY this way, but simply, to give you a general idea about it. You are always welcome to execute this in whatever fashion your creativity has in mind yourself. Do feel free to message me, or just reply here about any other details, questions, comments, suggestions, etc about this. I've never used the CK before and so have never created any mods, but I am willing to give any kind of hand that I can to anyone who would like to create this place. Just let me know what I can do.
  9. I've done several searches on this topic here but didn't find any real in-depth discussion about it, so if there actually is one, feel free to post it here to correct me. Otherwise, I would like this thread to hopefully be "that" thread that I hoped I could find on it. I want to talk about something a bit psychological - cheating (in Skyrim), and I hope that this thread can be the place for anyone to post advice, and read advice about "getting over the urge to cheat" so that the game can be more thoroughly enjoyed. I confess that, while I have played through most of the game without cheating, there came a point where I wanted just a taste of a cheat to help me a little... and eventually, I found myself in a downward spiral wanting to experience "power" as immediately as possible, to know what I could do with all the spells, perks, and even the nicest homes - to be a real "god of men" among Skyrim. Thinking about it was always exciting, but dumb, since I was a bit blinded from its cons. After that, the real genuine experience of Skyrim was pretty ruined, most of the mystery and vastness of the game spoiled... at least a better portion of it was. As much as I had, and fell to, the urge to cheat, I actually didn't ever want to. The real reason I had the urge to cheat, was actually the reason not to cheat - to have the most potential fun that the game can provide. For me it was mostly a matter of impatience to use the more tedious mechanics in the game such as crafting, etc, and faith in myself to work up to the levels of skill manually. Whether or not they post here, there are people like me viewing this forum, this topic, and probably wanting a way out of the urge to cheat. I want to ask for advice from you guys about escaping it. But just for the record, It's not always as simple as "Well, just stop cheating", since we have to identify the source for the urge to cheat - to have everything given to us instantly instead of working for it. So, two questions... - Do you/have you ever, sometimes, maybe frequently feel the urge to open the console and cheat? - Outside of saying "Just stop cheating", what advice can you give to get over this urge to cheat?
