You need to post in nmm forums but I will just report the thread and ask to have it moved.
To answer your problem you have to change which program on your computer handles Nexus downloads. I think a setting is in the nmm options menu but you can find it in your browser settings as well I believe.

Use vortex. It is better overall and works great. It does work differently to nmm though so it will require some learning to get used to nit it has a built in knowledge base that can help as well as several people here who could help if you have any issues.
