  1. Trust me. I've tried it all. What you said used to work for me, however at the time I posted this I was getting the CTD on save 2 minutes after I tried that little trick. I've gotten it working again, because it's was caused by certain mods in my game(no clue why or what they effected). The sad thing is is that it affects 95% of mods I install from this point on. So basically, every time I install a new mod, I have to play for a few hours. If I don't get a CTD on save in a few hours that means it's fine. If I do, then that means the mod is the cause. Luckily, I'm all set with my mods. However, Interesting NPC's is about to go out of beta, and the only way that Interesting NPC's works for me without causing a CTD on save is downloading one of the old updates on the latest version. Somehow it fixes that. However, I had to uninstall mods like Enhanced Mighty Dragons, Higher Level Enemies, LIAT, Immersive Patrols, and another one which I forgot the name of because they seemed to cause a CTD on save for me. All in all, it's better to find a permanent solution even if it means sacrificing certain things, rather than keeping those said things and only having a temporary solution that,(in my case) eventually becomes obsolete. If this is happening for you, I suggest you go through your mods, go to a save with the CTD on save issue, and then check which mod causes it(Note: Deactivating the mod will temporarily fix it. To permanently fix it, you have to remove the archive from the data folder or completely uninstall it via NMM)
  2. I'm pretty sure the mod author of Civil War Overhaul(which is why this is happening) said that if you lose a battle, you need to wait for a few days. You'll then have a courier approach you and tell you that an Imperial Owned City(Markarth, Falkreath or Morthal. Most likely Falkreath) is under attack. Then you have to go to that battle and if you win then you'll be allowed to start your attack on the Stormcloak terriotories. If you lose again, then the same process will repeat until you lose the Civil War. Hopefully this helped you.
  3. Well, it depends. Since you're planning to play a heroic sword and board character, you can make him a paladin(if you wish). I'd either make him a werewolf or nothing at all(can't be a vampire for immersion purposes). Instead of hack and slash you could use alteration spells (as paladins are gifted in defensive magic, specifically restoration although alteration is up there as well). I'd also try to use range once in a while(maybe install Crossbows Revamped and use crossbows). Really, it's up to the backstory and planning you're doing. Chances are that you will have to hack and slash from time to time, but you can use your ranged weapon when needed and pop up a few armor rating alteration spells. When things get ugly(if you chose to become a werewolf) or if you just want to go on a feeding frenzy use your beast form and let nothing stop you from going on an all you can eat buffet. Hopefully some part of this helped you.
  4. Wouldn't worry about it too much. My saves start at 6-7 MB. At level 30(currently) they are 20.5 MB and the game runs as smoothly as it did in the beginning. I wouldn't worry about it until you notice a 1 second freeze every 1 minute and your saving times take about 2 minutes(no exaggeration). That's when your save is severely bloated.
  5. Hello. Recently, after reinstalling Skyrim I started a new character. He's an Orc Warlord, that starts off as a Barbarian. His family and clan were murdered by soldiers and vampires, due to a curse/blessing in their family that allows the main clan to transform into monstorous beasts(which I used Werebears from the Moonlight Tales mod). However, I planned out my character to have a unique transformation(meaning I allowed no other werebears to be present in Skyrim). Now thinking this through, I wanted my character to end up from being a Barbarian to a feared and deadly Warlord. He'll be coated in a demonic type of armor, and will use Sauron's mace in his main hand(from the LOTR weapons pack) and some sort of waraxe in the offhand. Anyway, back on topic. I was thinking that werebear form just will not fit this evil, demonic warlord mid-end game. I'd much prefer a different transformation that UNIQUELY replaces ONLY your character. I ran into a Demon replacer for the werewolf on the Steam Workshop, however it replaced ALL werewolves, which is definetly not what I'm looking for. I saw a mod on the Nexus that allowed you to become a demon, but it looked very plastic and I'd figure that I wouldn't be using it as much as my Werebeast form. So, my question is does anyone know of an alternate STANDALONE form for your character as a werebeast? It'd be really cool to be that Evil Dark Warlord on my Orc char with the power to become a deadly beast that can level entire holds. If anyone knows of such a mod, I'd really appreciate it. Worse comes to worse, I'll stick with the Werebear because it looks badass on it's own, but it'd be nice for a more character fitting transformation. Thanks in advance.
  6. Well, I think the game is officially corrupt with no way back. That means that Skyrim can R.I.P. It really sucks because Skyrim was my favorite game in TES series, and I've played since Daggerfall. Anyone have any good games like Skyrim that you recommend I buy?
  7. Okay. I can honestly say I'll have to save this post and show it to my friend because I understood little of it LOL. As for the CTD on save bug, I just had it again right now. However, here's what I noticed. When I validate the Steam files, every time I had the CTD on save issue I get "5 files failed to validate and be reacquired" message. Also, if I can play smoothly for a few hours without a single crash, and THEN I get a crash, I get the CTD on save glitch. However, if I crash 2-3 times in the beginning, than on that playthrough I WILL NOT get a CTD on save glitch. It's really wierd but it's a pattern I'm noticing.
  8. Yeah. One of my friends works with computers so he helped me build this PC. Whatever you tell me, I'll probably have to report to him for any updates. You've been a REAL help so far, so thank you. Anyway, here's what that dxdiag thing wrote. Good luck to anyone who wants to decipher this LOL. Anyway, thank you again for your help. And I am going to go watch Avengers with my GF as well, but I'll check in from time to time hoping to see anymore help from anyone. Thanks.
  9. Alright, I'll give that a shot. I personally keep Firefox running for multiple reasons, however that is not relevant. As for my computer specs, here they are: I can run Skyrim on Ultra with all DLC's and no mods, even though it detects my system as high. However, I prefer to run it on medium or high(usually medium) and with this many mods I have to say no to ENB's. Hope this helps, and I'll see if shutting down Mozilla helps. Thanks for all your help thus far.
  10. Thank you again for the response. I verified the Steam Files and it seems to be working fine now. I've been playing for like an hour without the CTD on save glitch, which is a ray of hope. I will post my ini's below. As for all the computer related things(CPU, GPU, etc.) where can I find them? I use this PC for work, gaming, and just watching videos/movies online, so it's multipurpose. Overall, I'm a total moron when it comes to computers LOL. But if you tell me where I can find the information, then I'll post that also. As for background programs, I minimize Mozilla Firefox, but other than that I don't have anything else running(except for Steam, although it isn't noted as running on my Taskbar). I also use Cleanmem, which com es with a minimonitor on the side of my screen, and it runs itself every 15 minutes or so to help with the 3.1 GB issue. Like I said, verifying the cache SEEMS to have stopped it for now, but who knows? Just in case here are my ini's SkyrimPrefs Skyrim.Ini
  11. Well, this is my last attempt at solving this issue. I just start the game now, save once, and it CTD's giving me another TMP file. So ignore the message about this mods because SOMETHING is screwing my game up beyond playability. I may just have to give up on Skyrim completely, which is going to literally crush me. I honestly want to break my PC in half and just start screaming everywhere. This issue is beyond annoying and I don't know if ANYTHING could fix it. If it persists, then I'm officially done with Skyrim because I cannot play it without mods, and even then it'll still probably crash on a save.
  12. Download and install TES5edit. Although BOSS is a great tool, a CTD after the Bethesda Logo doesn't indicate a bad loader order, but rather a dependency issue . Run TES5edit, wait for it to give you an error message, and then look at the mod ABOVE the error message. If it's a bashed patch, you need to rebuild the bashed patch. If it isn't, then you need to either A) Find out the Dependency issue for the mod(whether it requires another mod to work properly) or B) Uninstall the mod.
  13. Yeah, I do use both Wyrebash and Tes5edit, as well as BOSS. I cleaned all my mods, and I have a bashed patch. I guess there was just something fierce going on between them that wouldn't allow me to save properly. Either way, I took your advice about saving and I see a great difference between my save size from now and previous characters(in reference from the file I made just for them). It's good to know that it's a problem with mods and not my game. Hopefully it won't occur again. However, it seems the reinstall fixed my Whiterun crashes(I only had one crash in Whiterun, probably because I hit the 3.1 GB limit), which means it wasn't an actual Whiterun crash. But anyways, let's just hope this problem has sorted itself out. I hope that I won't have to post more technical issues on this topic, or any technical issue topic again.
  14. Well, it seems that today was the day I would give up on Skyrim due to technical difficulties. I had the "CTD on save" bug once again. However, it SEEMS to be fixed right now. It was a mod issue(shocking). For some reason, the mods Enhanced High Level Gameplay, LIAT, and Immersive Patrols where what caused this(through constant saving trial and error, as well as being able to successfully save about 6-7 times when those 3 mods were deactivated). If even one mod was active, I would get the same CTD on save glitch. Hopefully it passes now that I uninstalled those mods. If it occurs again, I'll post here and apologize for my wrong report. However, it CAN'T be wrong because no matter what mods I had active, only those 3, whether together or not, caused a CTD on save. Well, I just wasted an entire night reinstalling the game, lost 4 characters(2 retired, 1 Semi-retired, 1 current), only to end up at the same spot. But at least it's fixed.....hopefully for good.
  15. Thanks, you've been a real help. As for the characters, I put them in a completely seperate folder to serve as a memory. I don't intend on using them, but I do intend on keeping them as a memento of sorts. I already lost 2 previous characters due to technical difficulties, and with these 4 that I had to give up for the sake of the next playthroughs that means I now lost 6. Well, that's life I'm guessing. But, this reinstall will hopefully fix everything. Thanks for the help once again. I'll post here again in a few days and see if this was cleared up.
