  1. I want to get started as a mod translator. Well, how do you do it? Do you simply open the esp with the creation kit and translate everything that you think is from the mod? If anyone could at least give me a hint what software to use, that would be awesome. If someone knew a tutorial, that would even be brilliant! Well, tell me anything you know about mod translating and how to do it, please. Thx in advance!
  2. While I have no explanation for this atm, since you're suggesting it's a mod you should post a list of your mods + load order. Although I don't know what your mods should have to do with the Creation Kit...
  3. You seem to be sure the HD mods caused your issue. Hopefully you remember exactly what mods you downloaded. After reinstalling none of the mods should be there anymore, so they technically can't keep causing anything at all, since they're simply not there anymore. But first of all post a list of the mods you added. Are you sure there was nothing else you did apart from adding the HD mods?
  4. No, not what I meant. I was thinking that Dawnguard wouldn't be a plugin for Skyrim until it's fully downloaded. So, it wouldn't even appear in Skyrim's launcher, under Data Files. Now, if I used SKse loader to open up Skyrim, maybe it'll open Skyrim although Steam wouldn't normally start Skyrim as it sees Dawnguard as an update, necessary to open Skyrim again, from the moment you activate it on.
  5. What, you mean NMM searches your computer for the esms/esps of whatever mods you downloaded and then downloads them itself? No, I can't imagine how that is going to work. You'd have to go through them, open them in the Nexus and download them through NMM.... However, NMM does recognize mods that were manually added, I think. I don't use it anymore. Manual installing isn't that hard though; it's basically copying everything to the Skyrim\Data folder, except when stated otherwise in the readme or something.
  6. Yes, it wouldn't be a problem for Skyrim, just for Steam. I don't even think Dawnguard.esm would appear in the Launcher before you downloaded it. It's just that Steam will probably not open it, and I wanted to know if anyone tested this with SKSE Loader.
  7. The problem is that even though I bought the DLC at a shop, there's still no disc inside it. Just the download code. I always thought this was ridiculous, but there's nothing you can do about it; Skyrim's DLCs simply don't exist as a disc. Plus, the install from disc thing doesn't even work with Skyrim. Anyway, I would try it, I'm just afraid that I can't play Skyrim for two weeks then, since I think I can't remove the DLC from my account and add it again later. If I don't get an answer as to whether this works or not, I'll simply leave it and download it at the end of the month or wait two or three months until the broadband connection they're currently building in my village is finished, and I won't have a data cap anymore then.
  8. Since when does the crashing occur? Did it start after adding a certain mod? If so, try disabling this mod. The next thing you could try is disabling ALL mods, start the game, see if it works and then enabling the mods one by one, but this could take some time in your case. So you should disable all mods related to water and see how that works. I saw Pure Waters in your load order. If there's some other water mod, maybe there's a conflict between them.
  9. OK, I realise the topic title may be a little bit confusing, so let me clear things up. Yesterday, I bought a retail copy of Dawnguard at my local media shop (I know I'm late :D ) Well, thing is, I have a monthly data cap which slows my connection down to a crawl after I exceed a certain amount of data. Plus, my whole family uses the Internet as well. So in order to have more control over how much I use, I plan to download 50 MB or so of the DLC per day. Would probably take me two weeks or so. This would be better than downloading the whole 580 MB at once, at least for me, as it would probably make me use less data over these two weeks and the download wouldn't matter that much. Yeah that's the background story :D My question is: if I download, say 60 MB of Dawnguard this evening, then pause the download, put Steam into offline mode - would I be able to start Skyrim? I probably couldn't through Steam, as the DLC for Steam is an update as soon as you register it and Skyrim had to be "updated" before I could play. However using the Skse loader it should work shouldn't it? I know this is a very special question, but maybe there's someone out there who can answer my question. thx in advance :)
  10. I've heard about it, never experienced it myself though. It's just, Rolff is (or, was) essential so most certainly there is a quest involving him? So it won't cause any weird bugs?
  11. Today, I got some gold and a letter from a courier. The letter said that Rolff Stone-Fist had died. He left me a hundred septims (by the way, that's odd, the only thing I ever did with him was to brawl but OK). I remember him being essential. Is that a bug and is there a quest I can't complete now?? Please help.
  12. Recently, I walked through Windhelm and obtained the quest 'Blood on the Ice' from a Windhelm Guard. I just looked on the page on the elder scrolls wikia and yeah, I didn't need half as many steps as described there: After starting the quest, it was active, cause I didn't have any other quest at that moment. But I didn't really intend to do it. I just sneaked around a bit and found a house called Hjerim. So I thought let's break in there. I picked the lock and as soon as I entered, there appeared the following message on the screen: Solved: Gain Access to Hjerim (or something like this, I play on a german copy). Yeah so I searched for hints, as told by the next quest stage. I found a bunch of wanted posters and the diary of the murderer. The wanted posters said if anyone had seen anything he should go to a woman named Viola. I did so and she told me that the murderer had to be the Jarl's mage. She told me to tell it the steward. I did that as well and the quest marked as done without anything else. Did I miss something (like a reward or something) or is it an alternative way to solve the quest?? Cause in the walkthrough there are more steps, including Calixto and a Strange Amulet...
  13. I play my character with Heavy Armor and normally don't sneak much. But I joined the Thieves Guild / Dark Brotherhood and really began to like it - my sneaking level is now 56 (I trained a bit by attacking Greybeards from behind :D ) and I am able to come quite near other NPCs (from behind) despite my Heavy Armor, and I can even assassinate them (although I get caught when someone's near). I have Muffled Movement and everything and now I have two questions: Should I get Conditioning?? I'm a bit confused about that. Sometimes I read that this reduces armor noise completely and therefore lets you sneak more effective. On other pages it says that the perk doesn't have anything to do with sneaking. If anyone knows that for sure, I'd be happy. My other question is if there's a mod with a heavy armor set for assassins/thieves that LOOKS LIKE Nightingale/Shrouded... It's not necessary that the heavy armor provides BETTER SNEAKING or something. I just want an armor that visually fits to the assassin/thief style. Do you know something? Let me know  ~NorthBow EDIT: Maybe I'll use the Heavy Dark Brotherhood Armor/Heavy Thieves Guild Armor mod as to my second question. But if you find a mod that adds some nice retextured/new textured assassin-style heavy armor, feel free to post it!!
