  1. Ha! Seems as though Alduin may be more like his old man than we were led to believe. This is definitely very interesting. How did you find out about this? Yagrums theory may be the optimistic one, and most unsupported by evidence. BUT, if you were playing Oblivion wouldn't you say the same about Mankars theory with Lorkhan? Ultimately I think that Yagrums will end up being the closest to the truth. If not for the simple fact that a return of the Dwemer (or at least some of them) is even more content for Bethesda to work with. I think you've said far more about the subject than I could. I think I'll just sit back and read after this, seeing as you've trumped me in Dwemer knowledge. I know it is. I even said it was an ironic statement. And I already said that I (knowingly) make the pivotal mistake of using real world logic in a video game. It's partly the reason why I love the Dwemer. Like Lachdonin said "The Dwemer were atheists in a world where gods are real". They were trying to transcend mortality. That was the ends of Kagrenac means. I think it even says somewhere that he used the calling to gather his people for a great journey. Implying that he may have succeeded, but not likely. Also they didn't want to resurrect Lorkhan, they wanted to use his heart to bring their new artificial god Numidium to life. Of course they wanted power! They are described as being blasphemous, and scientifically advanced race that could even be quite cruel. Look what they did to at the Falmer. And why? Because they wanted someone to do the work that their machines couldn't do, and they didn't want to do. To think that they wanted it for any other reason than power... well I can't even think of one. The idea you put forward of them being trapped in the void or in between planes is what Yagrum thinks happened, and me as well. I can't put forth the quality of an argument as Lachdonin can, mostly because he seems to be way better informed than us (and I thank you for all this rich info). And to respond to your last thought; Yes they were a very smart race. Their machinery and architecture alone proves that. Albert Einstein said, "I made one great mistake in my life — when I signed the letter to President Roosevelt recommending that atom bombs be made". Just because someone is smart, in this case Kagrenac, the chief proponent of using the Heart of Lorkhan to bring into being Numidium, can make mistakes. To note, a lot of Dwemer didn't think it was a good idea to tamper wit the heart. Making the argument that miscalculations could bring about a catastrophic error. But ultimately who knows maybe it did go all according to plan, and everyone sense their disappearance only thinks that they failed because they don't know any better.
  2. Ok yours seems to be the only real answer thus far so I will converse with you. I like the Atheists in a world with Gods quote (ha!). I'm still kind of "meh" about weather or not the Aedra and Daedra are indeed Gods, as any being powerful enough to create things on a planetary scale isn't necessarily a God, merely an immensely powerful being (Kind of an ironic statement I know). I'm applying real world logic and I know that that can be a foolish endeavor, but I can't help it. I do however understand your explanation about them and their created god Numidium, but I am skeptical of Trebonius's theory. The way the Lore reads, to me anyways, I could be wrong, is that the Dwemer had already constructed Numidium and placed the heart with in, and from their they disappear while trying to... for lack of a better word awaken (?) it. Therein lies my skepticism of Trebonius, who I remember was described as being a "Joke" within the mages guild. If we take his account seriously then we must also do the same with Mankar Camoran of the Mythic Dawn, who thought that Lorkhan was a Daedric prince, and that opens a whole other can of worms with Akatosh, St. Alessia, and a vie for power and control, but he's regarded as a fool as well. Then there is the actual disappearance of the heart it's self, when Dagoth tried to harness it's power to construct another mechanical god (the name escapes me), Nevevarine used Sunder and Keening to destroy Kagneracs enchantments on the heart and it vanished into a point, to witch no one knows where. All this is what makes ME think that something like what happened to Alduin happened to the Dwemer. As the Elder Scrolls are pieces of divine made substance, and Lorkhan was indeed a god (I know I'm contradicting myself but bare with me). The difference being that while what the Nords did to Alduin was semi purposeful, I think what happened to the Dwemer was either an accident, or done by the other divines, or possibly Daedra, maybe even Lorkhan himself (Kind of eh about that one) in order to thwart them, to safe guard Mundas, or themselves from such power. Please let me know if I'm just spouting of a bunch of nonsense. Edit I believe there is also a theory that Azura had something to do with the disappearance, but I can't remember the details. I'm sure I'll have looked it up by your next post. Also thank you for indulging me with a good debate.
  3. So, to start off, I'm a Dwemer nut. I find them to be the most fascinating element in ALL of the TES games. They are the race that shunned the Daedra and Mocked the Aedra as false. The only race to ever do both, and for this they were seen as the blasphemous race. But when you really think about it all, they were right, weren't they? The Aedra were, most likely, not gods but beings like the Daedra. Immortal, but NOT gods. The Aedra are probably all long since dead, or have removed themselves from the equation through isolation. And the Daedra only seek out power and praise from the mortals of Mundas for their own greed. They relied in logic and reason over superstition and mysticism, technology and mathematics over faith and prayer. They built cities that have stood through the tests of time and built machines that patrol those very cities even to this day. There technical prowess knew no bounds. Through these means the Dwemer sought to make their race immortal and came very, VERY close, or so I digress. Which brings me to the topic of this post. What happened to the Dwemer? Are they stuck in a dragon break like Alduin was, just waiting to return to Mundas? Or were they all completely wrong? Smited by the "Gods" for their blasphemous ways? We know that it has something to due with the heart of Lorkhan. We know that they sought to make themselves immortal. So what went wrong? And will they ever return? Or did they never leave in the first place? These are the questions that surround the infamous race known to men as the Dwarves. I hope that through this dialogue we may come up with some tangible ideas.
  4. I don't think so. And becoming the next Mikaak? Then why would you get a Nord hero burial? Your looking into this in the absolute darkest outcome. If You became the next Miraak why would the Nords honor you? As the next Miraak, you'd probably enslave a bunch of people and be labeled a tyrant. But back to the dragons. Why would you assume that your SUPPOSED to kill Paarthurnax? Because the blades want you too? Sounds to simplistic, they said do it so I did? Much more likely that your character will have become a greybeard or maybe even a general in the legion. There is no such thing as fate. More than likely that you are right there won't be dragons in the next game, BECAUSE they'll be in Skyrim, where the dragons have always been, learning from Paarthurnax. Although I think you could have an interaction with 1, 2, or even a group as quest content. I'm sorry but your idea is highly implausible as the Dragonborn IS ultimately a hero character and will most likely be a Nord (your right there), but not a tyrannical Miraak type character. BUT I do agree with pretty much all of your initial post about content. Also I may have missed this but I think that the legion should fight like the legion, in a phalanx system instead of just individually charging headstrong into a fight. Have them take up the part of the defensive army that prefers to let the enemy come to them until the enemy is broken (Which reminds me I want spears to behave like spears, not swords) THEN charge in to finish off the stragglers. You know like the REAL legion did.
  5. During the quest revealing the unseen I go invisible after opening the door to where Ancano is in the Hall of Elements. If I cast mage armor spells I can see myself, but am rendered invisible again after it wears off. Please help me! Edit: Ok it's not when the door opens it's when I kill the Potent frost Atronach. Disabling him via console bypasses the problem but the point still stands. anyone ever experience this?
  6. I definitely agree with you, BUT there is a large enough base of people highly committed in their love of the beast races. Rather than the actual game taking place in either Elsweyr or Black Marsh, I see it logical that there is enough room to, at the time, assume at least one of the DLCs could indeed take place in either of these locations. I like your idea of having the game circle the Dominion for at least two more games, but I can't see them doing that. After all the Oblivion crisis only lasted one game, as well as the threat of Alduins return. So the fact that the Dominion will already have a place in two games makes it seem to me that the next TES will be there final act. After all there are still other continents to get to. I think that TES6 should encompass most, if not the rest, of Tamriel that has yet to be seen. Obviously not an all in one but with the DLCs taking a larger part, i.e. more than just one adding new lands. You must also consider the time line. When will this next game come out? Years from now. Bethesda has the new TES online to play with for a while, and I'm sure we can expect a new Fallout game in the future. Then there is the process of making the actual game itself. After considering all that, my projected time for the TES6 is some where around 2016-17ish, and, who knows, maybe longer. Now after all that the last thing to think about, for those that say my "the rest of Tamriel (with the exception of a few, say Cyrodiil)" idea is simply to much, the advancements in consoles and computers will have stepped forward quite a bit I think. Thus allowing for a much more larger game. Just my thoughts.
  7. Game starts out in Hammerfell, Valenwood, or Cyrodil. Driving quest- Kick out the Dominion, or, well... Domination. DLCs- Either Elsweyr or Balck Marsh, give them a Dawnguard style doesn't really have anything to do with the main quest story. And then... ON TO THE SUMMERSET ILES!!! To either destroy the Dominion or save them from an invading force. This, in my mind is what Skyrim set up the next game for. It will likely take place a few hudred years after Skyrim. The same way Oblivion does. And that, to me, seems enough time for both sides to have marshaled strength for another go at it. Who knows maybe, in all unlikelihood, Bethesda could come out with DLCs were each one adds one of the countries of Tamriel that havn't been played i.e. Valenwood, Elsweyr, and Black Marsh, as well as some previous places High Rock, and Hammerfell. In witch you either defend against, or, well, Dominate. Maybe whenever it does come out, who the hell knows when that'll be, advancements in game engines will make it so the game as well as the DLCs will contain more the one country. Who knows, maybe, just MAYBE, the character you make could start in their respective country. Or at least have it so that A, B, and C start in country 1, while X, Y, and Z start in country 2. That's what I think should happen any ways. EDIT: And better NPC battles, like having the legion fight the way the real Legion would have fought, a phalanx system!
  8. The GS shop keep has no dialogue options. He just says "yeah", and "m-hmm". And the Inn keep only has the option to ask about magic learning. In other words I can't do anything except quests. Doesn't even happen all the time, it usually corrects it's self when I advance the main quest, but not any more. No mod conflicts, I can remember it doing this when I played a mod free playthrough. Any help will be much appreciated. Edit: I also can't speak with the Jarl or anyone in the Jarls palace/house. So no Lakeside Manor (the only one from Hearthfire I like)
  9. How/where do I do that? The drive its self is working properly, and I don't think it's very old. It's a Hitachi something or other that comes stock in an Asus G55V. Like I said, I have gotten it to work before (Game and all DLC), but that was over a year ago. My game isn't registered with Steam either, would it help to do so? I'm kinda dumb when it comes to this stuff, but not completely illiterate. Thank you for replying so quickly.
  10. Before anyone says anything, my discs are clean and unscathed, immaculate even. But my driver will NOT read it, I even left it in over night, nothing (Disc 2, Disc one installed with not a one issue). I'm running windows 8 (I know) and HAVE had this installed correctly and completely before (from the same discs) but forgot how I did so (Uninstalled to make room for other games initially, now I want it back). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  11. I'm having trouble getting the 2nd disc to even be read by my drive. I had forgotten all the trouble it gave me on the install and I uninstalled the game to make room for other games. But I have recently got the itch to roam the DC wasteland, and now I remember the pain of installing this game. First off it's clean and not scratched at all, I would say the actual disc is in immaculate condition. But my problem still persists. It's not on my steam account just the strait up discs. 1st disc installs with no trouble at all. Also I'm running windows 8. If you can help at all or point me in the right direction please do so.
