Thanks for answering, but I was aware of this issue. I mostly always manually do things these days. When I say in the OP that it 'stops responding' I mean it: NMM stops responding, as indicated by 'stopped responding' in the window title bar.

So I'm running NMM as an administrator but just about every time I try to add a mod it briefly stops responding, and then it's pure luck whether the mod shows up in NMM; it will be in the mod folder but after a 'stopped responding' it probably wont show in the NMM interface. So then I delete from the folder and try again. My record is 8 goes before I have achieved the mod in in interface! Is this me, is it because the web site goes down whilst I'm doing this - I get 'bad gateway' or VERY slow web site navigation 70% of my visits - or does anyone have any other ideas? I feel this must be me because I'd expect to see many more posts if everybody's NMM was stopping like this. I've done the obvious reinstall, restarts and reboots. Thanks for any ideas.

Glad to hear it's not just me. I've re-downloaded re-installed logged in and out of the web site. All a waste of time I guess.

I have the cannot reach the Nexus metadata server issue. Been like this for hours so I guess the server is down.

Same problem here. Huge numbers of reports of this on the net.
