  1. Hey Storm! Hope your weekend is off to a great start! Oh trust me, I do understand. I have seen it happen, and I have experienced it myself. We say something one way, intending for it to be meant/taken one way, and the next thing we know... lol Yeah, I get it. And yes, I know exactly what you were talking about. Been through it enough times myself. Don't ya just love it when the internet makes your decisions for you? LOL To be perfectly honest, I have no idea what that Bashed.esp is, either. It popped up the first few times I ran WB, and after awhile I just unchecked it. I didn't put it there, so I didn't think it should remain. Then again, me thinking I know what I am doing is sort of how this all started... Anyway! LOL For me, WB is a lot easier to use for moving mods around in the load order. Maybe I'm just old, but it honestly calls back memories of some of the first mod managers I used back when I got into FO 3. Beyond that, I look at some of the "features", and while I am sure they are great, I just don't use them. Buffout was installed originally because of that one mod... Vis-G Item Sorting. It seemed to be a soft requirement, and I try to install the necessary files when adding a new mod. Once everything started going downhill, I turned to the logs Buffout generated, in hopes of finding a solution. But beyond that, yeah, I don't know much about it either. LOL Yep, I completely understand about that whopping nearly 6K conflicts thing. First off, that is just nuts. Agreed, it is likely just cleaning up the debris, fallen leaves, etc., while creating new versions of previously unusable houses, etc. But still. That is a lot of changes. I am actually considering starting again, this time with a new clean save, and seeing what happens. The save I am working with now seems perfectly ok, but I am still getting lag, and I have no idea what could be causing this one. According to WB, everything in the load order is in the green. Vortex isn't showing any errors or conflicts, either. Yet when I load the game through Vortex, I run a few steps, lag. Come out of that batch of lag, and play for 10-30 seconds, lag. It is entirely random how long I am able to play before the lag hits. Still, the fact that I am able to play at all is something. I will definitely check out this series! Thanks for the recommend. If you have any thoughts on what might be causing lag, or what usually causes it in general, I would love to hear!
  2. Hey there, Storm! No worries at all. Believe me, I get it. Real life sucks at times. LOL And the forums, losing conn? Yeah, that happens far more frequently than I would like. :D Ok, having read over your message (and no, I don't think you're being a butthead at all. Quite the opposite, actually! :) ), I am wondering if I turn off Buffout and the address library that goes with it, what that might affect. According to the nexus page for Buffout, it will have some impact on Vis-G item sorting ("This is not really required. But it will increase the amount of scaleform memory available, which can help with stability if you're bumping into engine limitations using VIS-G in combination with other mods (like AAF) using scaleform memory as well."). So, there is that. I could see how much of an impact it actually has, though. I have a significant amount of memory, so now I am curious. As for WyreBash, I snagged that mainly for the ease of moving mods around in the load order. I still run Fallout through Vortex, though. One thing I noticed last night, was that I still had an instance of WyreBash running. It was minimized, so I didn't notice. I am going to close that, and see how well things run. Then, I can try turning off Buffout (and it's library), and seeing how things turn out. I agree that so far the process of elimination has been good, and I am even happier that the game runs, even if it could run better. Thankfully, I have a save file, free of mods, right before I exit the vault, which makes testing quite handy. LOL I hate having to tweak mods in the middle of a save, as I know it can do horrible things (Wow, 5,852 errors?! Yikes!). I've never used Xedit, so I would be lost there. LOL I saw the option to esl-ify mods, but I didn't want to touch that, as again, I am no modder, and I wasn't sure what impact that would have. I agree, if it's not broke, leave it alone. :) Again, you're not being a butthead at all. You are helping me figure all of this out, for which I am extremely grateful. I will run those tests (removing Buffout and keeping WyreBash off), and let you know what happens. I will have this up throughout the day, and will be checking back periodically. Thanks again!
  3. Heyas Storm! Ok, I figured out the problem with that error message. I had to re-enable the address library for Buffout. So now I can get back into the game. Kind of. I can load a save, but when it comes to starting a new game, it just sits there, panning around the garage and playing the music, but it never actually gets to the initial loading screen right before the game intro. Still... progress.
  4. Hey there, Storm. I forgot to include this one in my last message. I opened the Plugin Checker in WyreBash, and here is what I got... As I mentioned before, I have never modded any of this stuff, so I don't have the programs mentioned in this report, nor the knowledge of how to do it. lol Yay me. hehe
  5. Hey Storm! My schedule has been shot these past couple of days, so trying to do this on little to no sleep has been... fun. LOL I think all I had to do was reinstall CBBE and the skin texture I was originally using, so we will see what happens. If the problem persists, I will opt for a manual install, and see how it goes. You were very much right. Vortex DOES have a profile manager. I was able to set up a couple temporary profiles, although now all of my saves are not showing up. LOL But that might not be an issue... After reading through mod author's pages, and figuring out which mods no longer work as well as they once did, or which ones no longer play so nicely with others (and have no patches), OR which mods are out of date to the point where there are now newer mods which handle those specific things differently/better... Yes, it has been exhausting, on top of me already being exhausted. So, I have done some swapping out of some mods, reinstalled a couple, and either changed or turned off some of their options, and now I have a completely new problem. LOL Whether in Vortex or in WyreBash, I click "Play", and immediately get a little window popping up with the following error: REL/Relocation.h(600): failed to open: Data/F4SE/Plugins/version-1-10-163-0.bin As for my system specs, here is a complete log, courtesy of DXDiag! I shut down everything nonessential before I play any game. Force of habit, been doing it for years. LOL Oh, I love that chest. And that scoped rifle and I have have been best friends ever since I first discovered the mod! LOL Very nice mice? :P Never did get into modding myself, so I have never tried to add anything else to the chest. Been tempted a time or three, but well, you know. LOL And why wouldn't we head straight home after crawling out of that precious vault...? *looks around all innocent-like* hehe
  6. Heyas Storm! Sorry for the slow response. Real life. LOL Ok, so here's what I have been able to discern so far. Clean install of the game, and I made a few "Test" saves, as you mentioned. Game played just fine. Started up Vortex (after I quit out of the game), and got sidetracked. Come back to the computer, and everything seemed to be in order, so I went through, and pulled all of the settlement mods out of the rotation. Apparently, one of my kids decided to help me out, and clicked "Play". I did not know this had happened, and apparently it did nothing amazing. Once I had the mod order sorted (only companion and weapons/armor mods, along with the ones for character creation), I started up a save. And it worked. Not perfectly, mind you. I am getting, for lack of a better word, lag. Somewhat frequently, the game freezes for 1-5 seconds, and then continues as though nothing is wrong. And I forgot to reinstall (properly) CBBE, so I am getting odd skin texture glitches. But... it plays! I took a look at the directory, and sure enough, Vortex put all of the mod files back in the appropriate directories. I suppose I could uninstall the game, flush the INI files, and then uninstall Vortex... My next test will be to run a new save using just the settlement mods (and the character creation mods), and see how well that plays. Worst case scenario, I run two games, and will have to play around with the mod load before each playthrough. Not something I am looking forward to, but... LOL If the settlement mods run ok, then I may start introducing a couple companions. Might nor worry about the weapon mods for that attempt. And yes, I love Charlie's God Chest! It has been a must have for me ever since I found it. :D
  7. Hey Storm. Here is the complete mod list (or at least, it should be). Couldn't find an easy way to export it, so this is what I've got. I know, they're not really grouped very well, but for the most part, there shouldn't be very many conflicts. In fact, only 1 comes up as yellow in WyreBash. I will hold off on doing anything with it until you are around though. And thanks again!
  8. Ok, Storm! I have a backup copy of the install files securely tucked away in a separate folder, and I tested the fresh install. I am able (so far) to play. Went through making a new character, and it went flawlessly. Now to see if I can pull a complete mod list from WyreBash or Vortex. :)
  9. Hey Storm! Yeah, I felt like I was hitting my head against the wall. Yep. Device Mangler. Been using that one for many years. LOL Wow. 3 days for a 4TB... Just trying to wrap my head around how long a 10TB would take... *shudder* I will post the Buffout log at the end of this. If someone sees it and can figure it out, great. If not, well, that is ok too. Ok. Working game first. I Have renamed the original folder from Fallout 4 to Crapout 4. :D I will reinstall, and then backup the vanilla files, so that I have a local copy. Once I have the backup, I will see if I can get the base game working, just as a test. I will also take a look at that guide you linked, and see what is offered there. Oh, and I think the Buffout log has a list of the mods, but I will see if I can pull something from WyreBash as well.
  10. Heyas Storm! Well, I think I hosed my install. Someone was trying to walk me through a couple of things, and now the game won't even launch. So I am thinking I have to reinstall, and try again. :( And if Round 2 is anything like Round 1, then yeah, I will most likely need help. LOL Not touching it today, as I am not going to be by my computer enough to be able to do so. But tomorrow... Now that's a different story! :D And I still have the last Buffout log, and can also show you the mods I was hoping to load, if any of that helps at all.
  11. Top of the morning to you, Storm! Not a problem at all. Like I said, I get it. Anyone who has the ability to create these mods is absolutely amazing, in my book. For one thing, they are doing things I do not have the time nor generally the patience to do. :D That being said, I am not one who is going to drop $25 for a patreon just so I can get a couple of mods. But that is just me. And yes, mods can be removed from the internets, whether we like it or not. LOL Sucks too, because I can't find a couple companion mods I used to really enjoy... Ah, well. The Device Mangler (Ok, "Manager"... :D ) shows me that everything seems to be running just fine. And yes, even in Win11, it is still Ctrl+Alt+Del, Task Manager, etc. I took a look at the Device Mangler, and yes, it is a HDD, not a SSD. Gods, the thought of defragging this beast... *shudders* :D I launched the game through the vanilla launcher. Well, ok, let me back up. I TRIED to launch the game through the vanilla launcher. Launcher loaded fine, I clicked "Play", the screen flashed black once or twice, and then... Nothing. So I tried via F4SE, and got the same exact result. And yes, troubleshooting through process of elimination is usually the way I go, but I just find myself in over my head on this one. Plus having the time to be able to actually sit down, and crunch through it sometimes is, well... :D I tend to think of mods as either mods I would use, or mods I wouldn't. Rarely do I see a "bad" mod. Maybe some that are not to my tastes, but hey, to each their own. That being said, their can always be problems with the coding. So, problematic mods through faulty programming...? Nah, too much of a mouthful. LOL I will look into the folder properties, and see how that looks, and see how much tweaking they need. Also, I have the most recent crash log from Buffout 4, if that would help at all. As for Vortex, I never figured out how to rearrange the load order, which is why I went to MO2, and then to WyreBash. LOL
  12. Hey there, Storm! No worries on the timing of your response. Real life comes first, and believe me, I can definitely understand coming home thoroughly worn out. :D I miss some of the mods I used to enjoy, and I actually found one of the modders whose work I used to absolutely love on a personal website he set up. Unfortunately, he decided to monetize his mods, so, well, you know. LOL I downloaded a body texture and face skin setup, and it included a save file as an optional file. I snagged that, and have been using that as a test since I deleted all of the other saves, because I remember all of the old warnings about deleting mods/uninstalling mods during a current playthrough. Trust me, I got pretty excited when I was able to run around inside the vault as well! Once I made it outside, I was ecstatic! And then, well, Boom. lol Good feeling gone. As for launching the game... I was using Vortex for pretty much everything (including launching the game), but I could find no way of rearranging the load order, which is why I looked at MO2, and finally WyreBash. With WyreBash, I can manipulate the load order, and I can launch the game with F4SE. I could try just running the game launcher, and seeing what that brings. Alternatively, I could run F4SE, and seeing if it will launch the game. As for the game install, no, I never install games on the OS drive, unless there is no alternative. Currently, the game is on my other drive, which I believe is a HDD (it's a 10 TB drive, so I am guessing it is a HDD). Currently running Windows 11, and I have never used any CC mods. Thanks again, man, and take your time. Get the rest you need. Real life comes first, and I am sure this problem will still be here. :D
  13. Update 2... Ok, so I played around with the save, and got out of the vault. Unfortunately, I had taken about a dozen steps away from the vault entrance and got another CTD.
  14. Ok, update. I downloaded the file you referenced, Storm, and also a save file from the mods section here. Loaded the game through Wyrebash, and it loaded the save just fine! I was able to run around, and so far, it seems to work. So, I closed the game, and tried again, this time trying to create a new game, and it wants to load into eternity again. So I may have to just go with the save, and use LooksMenu at some point to tweak the character to my liking. But so far, through this save, it seems to be working! Thank you so much!
  15. Hey there, StormWolf! That is kind of what I thought, or at least, I was hoping I was remembering it being that way, where companion mods and settlement building mods being run together was within the scope of possibility. I didn't think they touched the same things (with, as you pointed out, a few exceptions). Sadly some of the mods I used to enjoy are no longer anywhere to be found, or they are now hosted somewhere else, for monetization. So, I work with the mods that I remember that are left, as well as a handful of "new" ones. But again, I didn't think they should be cancelling each other out. And nothing sounds stupid. Trust me. At one point (maybe a week and a half ago...?), I was starting the game, and after I hit new, I accidentally hit the mouse button, and instant crash. So I have been trying to avoid hitting anything while the game tries to sort itself out. I can definitely try that, and see what happens, although I am using any quick start mods. But again, it is worth trying, if for no other reason than to say we did. LOL I actually went through and deleted all of the old saves that were there, since I knew I was using different mods and in a different configuration than before. So to avoid any issues, I deleted all of the old, and decided to only work with the new. But I can certainly grab a save file, and plunk it in there, and see what happens. What's the worst that can happen, it doesn't work? :) Now the file you linked... That I did not know about. I am definitely going to be downloading that one. (And thank you for the recommendation!) And in regards to your "lastly" question, about the .ini edits, yes, that was one of the very first things I did. :) Now, I have been getting CTDs every time I have tried to start a new game. So yesterday I went through the load order, and unchecked one, and tried again. It didn't crash, but after I selected New Game (and did not get the usual "You have mods active, you won't get achievements" thing), the game went into the loading phase, and stayed there, loading into eternity. Fun stuff. Anyway, I am off to download that file, and will see how it goes. I will drop a comment here with the results once I test it out! Thanks again, Storm!
