  1. Would still love to hear that recommendation ;). In any case; to solve my visual meandering, I thought I d just get systematic on the problem: 1. get the Skyrim HD DlC 2. install Skyrim HD Lite from the Nexus 3. Then amend the following elements: Lighting: Meshes: Static Mesh Improvement Mod Weapons & Armor: aMidianBorn Book of Silence Player: XCE, RaceMenu, Apachii SkyHair & Fitness Body Water: Water and Terrain Enhancement Redux Weather: Wet and Cold ??? 4. Scrounge around for any other elements I d want to change. 5. Hapyy faic. Sound good? Missing stuff?
  2. That's the one! Damn though, Creation kit, compatibility patches, I'm going to have to do some reading to get some of this stuff to work. I'll need to figure out if this'll clash with any textures mods or Cloaks of Skyrim; probably fine thought. Thanks for hunting it down! Much thanks, I'll look at RCRN. What I like about CoT is its compatibility with many other mods, and the emphasis on deep darkness. I also love me some aurora. I'm getting really flustered by the all visual mods by now though, I just want some nicer textures, character models, lighting and skies (also Get Snowy), I didn't think it would be this hard. I've been given to understand that Imaginator can lead to instability if I keep tinkering with it, but if I just do it right the first time I'll probably be okay. About the mod recommendation; I've already experienced spoilers, and it's just the price of setting up the game with this many mods I think, so by all means tell me please! I'm not going to use any Followers if I can help it, only if I get stuck on something like a dragon because I have a lack of ranged attacks might I consider it. I really hate that they alert me to nearby enemies all the time. Also, thanks for the tips for dragons, I think I'm going to stick with Deadly Dragons, mayyybe add Dragon Combat Overhaul, but for me the main draw isn't killing dragons, judging by GopherVids current let's play I should have plenty of trouble with Deadly Dragons by itself ;D. Definitely did, Matthias
  3. Damn skippy that helps! I've just added them both (already had Choice is Yours), exactly my kind of thing. I don't think I'll necessarily play 'good guy', but if it turns out Bragg's got something against the Thieves Guild, being able to take them out will be ossim. Paarthurnax Dilemma will definitely come up. I've made a major edit to the first post to reflect the progress and post some new issues that've sprung up for me, but all in all it's getting pretty close :D. Cheers, Matthias
  4. I can't even believe this conversation is happening; ridiculous armour counterposed against even more ridiculous armour. if you want 'sophisticated' armors, your example isn't an example of one. But have fun I guess.
  5. I think the unit of: Skyrim Redone (full) Frostfall + WEAR Wet & Cold Realistic Needs and Diseases Hunterborn Cooking Expanded is a pretty established mix of mods that work well together and provide a pretty decent survivor's experience. There are a couple of playthroughs on Youtube that often make use of some variant of this set. I've been looking at this kind of play style as well on my suggestion thread as well. You might want to consider posting what kind of play style you have in mind for yourself :).
  6. Ahhh, that's it, thanks, I won't . I'm going to take the advices of using Mod Manager and Wrye Bash, and just download the mods I want manually and backup backup backup. Much obliged in advance. You know what? I think I might indeed be interested in that, I'm going to try it out! Would probably not have found this before starting play, thanks a lot! PS: I've added on Economics of Skyrim in conjunction with Trade and Barter, but now I'm looking at Banks of Skyrim, and it looks like it'd be a problematic blend at best. Anyone have any experience with that?
  7. I think I'm just gonna try it on the first go; keeping my data folder clean is worth quite a bit to me, I was actually surprised that NMM doesn't 'modswitch' like that by default. I've been trying to figure it out, and it's probably very obvious, but what is CK? There's nothing in my mod list which looks like it would be abbreviated Ck I think? Glad to hear you didn't lose all your progress, would probably be the thing to worry me most as well. Glad to know I'm not the only one getting into the game (again) now.
  8. Oh woops, I actually had it in the list already, much thanks though! Hmmm, I'll think on the Imaginer matter, and I'll figure out a preset for LoS + CoT; I think I'm going to go for very dark nights and lanterns that function more as beacons to navigate by than as spots I could feasible read a map or something by. I don't think I'm gonna miss the extra spells, so I'll be fine without Apocalypse. W00t, gonna be so awesome. PS: does anyone have experience in using the Mod Organizer rather than the Nexus Mod Manager? Worth it? PPS: is there a mod around that lets me wear masks together with (open) helmets?
  9. Claralux I read the comments about Claralux, so I'm gonna take your advice about Lanterns of Skyrim, thanks a lot. Stability Project But if I heed that warning, I'm gonna do the same for the other mods the Stability Project warns about and remove Wet and Cold and Footprints and replace them with Get Snowy, just in case. Wouldn't you agree? Enhanced Lighting I read up on this and agree, I like performance as well. Speaking of, are there any useful performance mods or tweaks I should check out? I think I read something about stopping Skyrim from loading things that you can't actually see? Apocalypse SkyRe makes changes to spells, so until there's a compatibility patch out I'm gonna steer clear, but they look very good . Mod Changes: + Simple Borderless Window + Trade and Barter - Claralux + Lanterns of Skyrim - All in One + Fires Hurt - Realistic Lighting Overhal + Enhanced Lights and FX - Wet and Cold - Footprints + Get Snowy + Interesting NPCs Thanks! PS: funny how mod lists tend to grow way more than they shrink
  10. I'm gonna go for Static Mesh then, I'm going to leave out ENB's and other fanciness for now, I think there's going to be plenty to discover and I'm not looking for beautiful screenshots primarily. The system shouldn't be a problem. I'll try SkyTweak, but if I find a tool that let's me change the names of in-game items organically I'll pick it up. I'll update the list, these are what I addes sofar: - Static Mesh Improvement Mod - Helgen Reborn - Enhanced Enemy AI - Dual Wield Parrying and removed Skyrim Grassification Project. I think I'm gonna stick with Claralux instead of Lanterns All in One for now, I'm more interested in the additional lightposts along paths in the wild than additional lighting in settlements. Thanks so far; got any more I should consider or specifics I need to be aware of? Cheers, Matthias
  11. I'll get the Enhanced Enemy AI, I do like me a bit of nerve-wracking combat; I'll be sidling down corridors like a wimp, dreading the possible sideswipe. As for the visuals; if I have those, have I covered all the important bases? Do I need static mesh things, or rock textures or anything else like that, in your opinion? Would you recommend it instead of Claralux, or instead of it? PS: is there an active mod that lets me change the names of items; Dynamic Naming seems to be inactive currently. Cheers, and thanks to you both :D, Matthias
  12. Hello there everyone, *MAJOR REVISION* I started this thread about a week ago, and have gotten some incredible tips and suggestions since then. Many thanks for the replies so far. I'm getting to the point that I feel that I'm very close to completing my setup and getting started on getting mods working for the fun times to commence. The development has prompted the need to rework this thread quite a bit, not only to change the mod list, but mainly to delve into a few lingering doubts and questions, and to ask for specific types of content rather than a general appeal. Before I start with that however, a little expansion of what I'm going to be playing the game as for the first-ever time, to provide some more context. Background My character is going to be a male Orsimer by the name of Bragg. He's a former bodyguard of a minor chieftain down on his luck when said chieftain expired at the hands of a cranky Cave Bear. Bragg had lost his way after that, taken to drink and lived a vagabond's life for quite some time. Now however, he's trying to make a change, and he's made his way to the Companion's Guild to join up as a new recruit, in the hopes of getting some semblance of life going again. His fighting style is that of the Bulwark Paladin, clad in the heaviest of armors augmented by Restoration magic and his natural combat prowess, Bragg is very difficult to bring down, while in return he is capable of wearing enemies down with deliberate strikes of either shortsword or axe. He will have to find his way in the world, while at the same time surviving its hazardous weathers, ailments and feral fiends lurking in the undergrowth. Unresolved - Can I risk using Wet and Cold, or will it cause save game bloat? - Do SkyRe combat and Locational Damage (rather than ACE Combat) work well together? - Do I have mods that do not work with Mod Organizer? - If I load Banks of Skyrim after Economics of Skyrim, will they clash? - Does Dance of Death work find with SkyRe? - Is there a hair mod you recommend other than SkyHair (not especially looking for glamour) that still adds hairstyles/ - For better textures, is Static Mesh Improvement Mod + Skyrim HD Lite enough? What about for weapons, items and armors, enemies, NPCs and the player? Isn't there a total visual conversion overview around that I can reference (which includes Climates of Tamriel)? - Do you recommend any other quest mods that are suitable for Bragg? - Do you notice any clear (currently unpatchable) conflicts?
