Alright. I go to the Nexus page and click "chat". Despite already being logged in it claims I am not logged in. So I log in and it says "thank you for logging in" then it refreshes and I am not logged in. I go to the forums, and I am logged in already. This started about 2 weeks ago and only did it every once in a while. Now it has gotten to the point that I cannot access chat 99% of the time. I am using Firefox, current version. I flushed my temp files, cleared cookies and reset cookie permissions and allow all cookies full access from this site. Still the same problem.

Where will the next Fallout be?
Ragingbear replied to jukehero461's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
I was recently thinking about the area I have spent a lot of time at. The area between Topeka and Kansas City has a city named Lawrence in it. That is where the classic film "The Day After" was filmed. It was about Topeka and KC getting nuked and the fallout afterwards. Could be an interesting region to play in. -
I want a new skin mod for FNV but am having trouble finding one that isn't a nude mod. Either that or you can only use the armors and such specifically made for that new skin, or it's just for females. Does anyone know the best human reskin mod that is either non-nude or has a non-nude mode. I got a kid in the house and I don't want him having cheap thrills while splattering people's heads across the room. Thank you, PS, please provide the link of the suggested mods.

I hate it when I am trying to pick up a Sunset Star cap, or talk to somebody or whatever and suddenly I pick up a drinking glass that wasn't mine and suddenly I lose karma and people start shooting at me. So, I had an idea. I just don't know if it can even be done. If it could, the usefulness of the script could extend into Oblivion,Skyrim and other games using the same system. In a nutshell, you won't be able to add stolen items to your inventory unless you are sneaking. I am not talking about using the grab command, I am talking about an item that you click on and it goes into your inventory. It would be nice if this rule applied to all red writing interactions, but just loose items would be excellent. Is this even possible? I don't mind if it uses script extender.

I often run into modder's resource files that are plenty cool and all, but are not actual mods. It would be pretty awesome if files like this had their own category so others can use them in upcoming modules, with proper permissions of course.

These sound awesome. All I wanted was to improve the Powder Ganger prison. These should allow more than I could have imagined. You rock. -

I don't think that finding clean vaults should be a problem. I figure that if I can find a Stephen Hawking type voice generator that I could easily voice all the necessary robot voices while making it mildly funny in most cases. I will be getting FNV sometime this coming week for my PC and will be able to start work on that. Also, for anyone interested, I am planning on redoing the prison. For the most part it will be cosmetic changes only. However, I would love to be able to find some prison shanks somewhere. Yeah. Like makeshift knives you might find in a typical prison. Sharpened bones with pieces of cloth holding them together, that sort of thing. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_DJe3vpipo5g/SD6mPTtl68I/AAAAAAAAAk0/q_Q0CQivh7E/s400/shanks.jpg -

I have tentatively called it "Vault-X" but it seems somebody tried to lay claim on it long ago and it never went anywhere. It will use a few concepts that some people have already implemented, and a few others that I got rattling around in my head. Basically, you will find a vault that was not known about. It is not and was never intended to be populated by people. Instead it is full of robots and equipment. They would be programmed to respond to the one that would be sent to lead them. They would then start the new protocol. Instead of having a GECK, they would make a new place for people the good ol' fashioned way. At first you would just see a mountain. After the protocol would be initiated you would see the start of construction work (I figure forcefield walls could prevent the problems with player interference and you would just have the show). You would have to start by finding a seed vault, which actually exist IRL. Then you would have a series of questions you would have to answer at key stages that would dictate the outcome. For example, you could choose to either put in a cloaking device or a series of turrets, but not both. You would need to scout out and find NPC's to populate. Some would not get along with others and there could be a whole plethora of things that could evolve from it. I have seen that there is a mod that is about settling your own city and developing it. I would not be opposed to working with the original artist of that to make this project. I just have my ideas, and my ideas are my ideas, you know? Anyways, I would love the robots to be these "Constructicons" (transformers reference :P) with the skins I mentioned. The buildings would be new, not salvaged. Are you getting the idea of what I have now. I am not even sure if I would insert this mod into NV proper, or if I would actually make it in an entirely new region that you could travel to. However, there are a lot of things that I would have to do in order to even get close to this project being done. I refuse to release a mod that is substandard, buggy, or incomplete. -

Hey thanks. Do you know anyone interested in making some construction themed skins for robots for me? That would be sweet for this mod I am dreaming up. -
Where will the next Fallout be?
Ragingbear replied to jukehero461's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
I see the entire Fallout 4 concept as being a few different scenarios. I also see a few problems with certain places being used. California: Been there, done that. The references to the previous games would end up killing the game. Sometimes less is more. L.A. in particular would suddenly become the Kurt Russel movie "Escape from L.A.". The Midwest: The midwest is a whole lotta nuthin right now in real life. Add some bombs and radiation and you will have even less...populated by radioactive Bison. Hawaii: No doubt China would nail them hard in the invasion. They could even go so far as to pull a Xenu and drop the bombs into the volcanoes, resulting in eruptions that would completely obliterate the entire area. Not to mention that the islands are actually quite small. It would be difficult for different factions to have any real space due to the constraints. Florida: This is a possibility. I would guess that a pseudo DisneyWorld area could hold a massive faction, or factions that could result in some interesting scenarios. I could just imagine having to fight a ring of supermutants while on a rail-based ride. The Disney Corporation might put up somewhat of a stink about the whole thing. Other than that, it would be a beach based game. There would be a fair amount of potential, as it would be more NV like as there aren't many strategic targets in Florida. Chicago: People compare Chicago to the Pitt. I think this is a bit off base. Chicago is less factory based than some might think. What it IS based on is about the railroads. There is an area on the Indiana side of Chicago called Hammond. It was a city that developed around the Chicago railroad yards. Go to Google Earth and take a look. They are massive. This could tie into the NCR and their railroad projects, and there would be plenty of content fodder. This would also allow areas like Detroit to become optional add-on content later on. New Canaan: I used to live in Mormon territory. Heck, I used to be Mormon. If you anger them IRL too much, they could easily quash it and sue Bethsesda/Oblivion for quite a lot of money. As NC is already established as lore, they will have to be insanely careful about anything they do or say. Other than that, it would be rather NV like, but without the Blackjack, Alcohol and Hookers. What fun is that? What would you have left? Sun Valley? That was pretty much done with the Zion National Park expansion. Outside of the U.S. : I seem to recall from Fallout 3 that the US annexed a good portion of Canada. They would see minimal bombing and you would have to fight radioactive mutant Mooses(Meeses?). Not to mention that everyone would speak Canadian, eh? This might also anger the fans that think that Fallout needs to stay in the modern U.S. Texas: People seem to be neglecting this. There is a fair amount of fodder for Texas. From the metro area of Dallas/Fort Worth to the rather backwoods areas that are prevalent throughout the state. I could imagine the New Texas Republic or whatever they are called having the Texas Rangers riding around on robotic horses and having a bunch of Chuck Norris references. There are some areas that could see influence the New Canaan/Mormon influence (google Gilmer Texas) as well as your religious extremist, racial purist, points for the Enclave to set up shop, the Brotherhood of Steel could easily be inserted, and NV and California could both easily leak influence into the state. Guns would be everywhere, as Texans like their guns. Virginia: Enclave HQ. Don't neglect this possibility. A proper storyline of a rebellion or a previously unknown vault opening for a vault dweller to emerge could provide some interesting events. This would also give rise to the potential of the wants of a more rebuilt society with technology that continued to advance after the war. DC points of interest, the Brotherhood of Steel and other influences could easily be inferred. Perhaps a point in time about 6 months to a year after the "president" was killed in the DC area? Also, that type of tech could allow people to travel anywhere in the world. European addons would be fine with many people, where you can Monty Python and Austin Powers it to your heart's content. Wasn't there a reference to the Commonwealth of something in Fallout 3 that was about a rather run-down society with a highly technologically advanced core somewhere in the New England area? I can't seem to recall right now, but I will probably think of it after I post this. The English influence isn't a bad idea. But that would still leave the U.S. fans feeling betrayed. Not to mention that the Austin Powers references would get pretty old pretty quick. Also, what time frame are we going to be looking at? Will this be around the time frame of the events in NV or DC? Before? After? How much time in either direction? I agree a prequel would be a bad idea. But where would we go? We have the Midwest, the Deep South, Texas, and the Dakotas left. Other than that, we are looking at crossover areas. -
So, here are the things I would love to be able to find. I have searched and have limited success at best. I would be greatly appreciative to anyone with the know-how that chooses to make any of these. Construction Equipment: Bulldozers, Forklifts, Cranes that actually work. Basically anything that you would find at a construction site. This could even include Jackhammers and such. Construction outfits could be nice as well. Construction Skins: The typical yellow/orange and black striped motif common on big construction equipment, except they would be for Robots. So imagine a Mr.Gutsy looking like it was designed for welding and such. "Clean" everything: I find lots and lots of cool skins and such out there, but what about clean versions of them? I am talking about what things would look like if they were new, on the rack, not weathered beaten, stripped or whatever. There are some things, but I am looking for a clean version of just about everything. Other Vehicles: What society only has one brand and model of car and truck? Why don't we see many other vehicles that would be common. Garbage trucks are an example. Both beaten and non-functional and like-new would be loved. Wildlife: This is sorely lacking in FNV. I am not talking about creatures you may end up having to fight. I am referring to birds, snakes, bugs etc. There are a few bugs, but no snakes. This is Nevada, the desert is full of snakes. There should at least be some out there. I would also love to see some giant spiders, but that may be a bit harder to find. Also, does anyone have a way for a mountain to open up? Like if it had a dome roof on it that disguised it. I have an idea for a cool mod but I found that there are tons of things I would need to make it any good. I fail at actual artwork, so I need help on this. If you help, I will give you a free frogurt. But the toppings contain Potassium Benzoate.

What I am looking for is "simple". Of course we all know that simple mods are usually the hardest. I want my PipBoy to have a flashlight on it. There doesn't have to be an external component that you can see, or even a special animation (although a lifted arm pose would not be opposed if you can pull it off). When I say flashlight I mean like what we have in our closets and tool sheds. It should have a decent range, and a center focused area around and abouts the cross-hair, with limited lighting elsewhere. I found one that is a start of what I was looking for, but a bit lackluster and dark. My son has a phone with a brighter built in flashlight. I was hoping to have it set up where it has a more natural lighting, as the pale greenish pip-boy light the game comes with sucks and also tends to have a mild bleaching effect on things. It should have decent, but not insane range. For advanced modders wanting a challenge: I would love to see it have the specular and particle effects of an actual flashlight. That being that certain things have a "glow" about them when lit, without bleaching, like in real life. Particles like dust and such would become more noticeable and things like fog and smoke would have a dispersing/glowing effect like you get when you try to use your brights when driving through a fog bank. The telltale cone of light that would be visible to others, or 3rd person mode would be a nice thing to have as well. The wants of this are that the first paragraph is what I am looking for, the second are optional but would be awesome.

I'm sorry, but what is RCFW? I tried googling it and found a few radically different references.

I assume that you mean STEAM(ing pile of fecal matter) as to having to use a 3rd party system. I am aware of the popularity and use of it. However, having STEAM isn't all bad. I lost my house in a fire once, but had Half Life 2 that had just came out. A few months later I discovered that I could just re-download it as I had a profile claiming ownership to it. However, I agree with you when it comes to having to have an Internet connection to play your games, if only to do a verification load, and having big brother using information to track and advertise to you.

I have a few ideas for some mods that I am planning on making in the near future. However, there are some things that I am just not good at making, nor do I have the time to do so. I hate sloppy or incomplete mods. My goals are to make mods that actually seem like they were official releases. So characters must be able to talk, equipment and people must seem appropriate to the genre and such. I have zero artistic ability, so I can't make or modify skins. I can't make talking mods properly, but I can offer my voice to those that would like a nice ghoul or supermutant voice (I can do a spot on Rock Biter from Neverending Story). My mod ideas that I plan on working on are as follows... A "make your town" set up. This would be akin to things like the villa in Assasin's Creed 2, with the exception of making choices that would be either/or (you can have a Church of No Mutants or a Center for Mutant Tolerance, but not both.). Instead of buying all features, you would have to adventure to add people, certain features, and affect the final outcome of the mod. At the end, there would probably be an attack, or some sort of catastrophe that the abilities of the town would determine the ultimate outcome. A "Tower Defense" set up. I am a fan of tower defense games. I think that with a bit of hard work, that you could make a relatively cool one that worked properly. Most of the problems would probably have to do with scripting and figuring out a few details of functionality. This would be a stand alone and would probably require you to enter a new area. Lag may also be an issue that would need to be worked on, but I already have some ideas as to how to address that. A "Realism" mod. This would basically be an overhaul mod. The world of Fallout 3/NV is not realistic. After 200+ years, the world would be a very different place than depicted. I figured that I could bypass the "need" for nuclear winter and full irradiation if I could somehow switch the radiation system to a toxicity based system caused by the chemical warfare and byproducts of weapon use. Rad-Away would become Tox-Out or whatever. Mutants and ghouls could exist, but other things would have to change. Vaults would have visible areas of mass producing water/food/etc. They would probably be viewable as a window or ride (think of Half-Life 2 and the scene where you are on that rail towards the end). There would be less salvaging and more production of new equipment and such. Old buildings would probably be mere shell remnants while some military facilities would seem relatively in tact. What tech there is would be more in keeping with actual tech rather than this pseudo 50's sci-fi tech that is prevalent. This would be a massive project that would require a lot of work in order to see come to fruition and I would not be opposed to working on projects already using this type of concept. In any case, I would need and want a lot of help, as this would basically be a new game in a few hundred ways. I would also like to see more animals that really don't do anything like birds and ground critters. I believe that especially in NV that you should see snakes and such, when you don't. A "fix" mod. I hate bugs and flaws. I hate invisible walls, bad pathing of characters, improperly placed items and other flaws that should have been addressed offically. I would be willing to work with anyone to make or update such a mod as I am sure that they already exist. An underwear mod: I always hated that everyone wore the same type of underwear. Vault dwellers should be clean and well maintained while raiders should have rags and such. Outfits like the sexy sleepwear don't really make sense unless you are using it for aesthetic appeal or some project. I figured out a way around some of the issues. If we can make underwear a wearable object on characters that is not one of the already worn ones, perhaps using the glasses category if you can't make a new category altogether, then modders have already supplied the materials to spread a plethora of undies across wasteland. Feedback, or direction to similar mods would always be appreciated.

I am a fan of the original Fallout games(played them when they were new, not the re-releases.) as well as the Morrowind/Oblivion series. Fallout 3 was awesome awesomness +5, and FNV wasn't quite as awesome, but really really good nonetheless. I guess if some of the bugs got addressed that it would be a bit better, but that is for another tangent. I found that it was mainly a testing ground for newer concepts that didn't exist in FO3. I really liked many of the new systems installed and some that were obviously ported from Oblivion/Skyrim. Survival Cooking is basically a tangent of Alchemy and so-on. Unfortunately I have these games on the PS3 and not yet on my computer. I intend to fix that in the very very near future. So, in summation my question is simple. For modding purposes should I get Fallout 3 or Fallout NV? Are there many functional feature ports between them (Fallout 3 with many or most NV features). I have a few ideas for some mods that may be easily inserted into either game, some that may be limited to the features of NV and some that would be stand-alone and really shouldn't matter. Like an expansion area instead of just slapping a new town down where one wasn't before. I have been trying to look into buying the basic copy of NV and just downloading the expansions instead of getting the new ultimate edition that has recently come out. I don't care about getting special equipment, I do care about content. However, I can't seem to find the price of how much the individual expansions are. Well, those outside of the $3 and $5 range. I am new to the forum itself and will be spending a lot of time researching what is out there, under development and so forth, so please bear with my ignorance on some subjects at this time. Please grant a noobie some patience, as I am asking nicely and will give you this bottle of purified water if you do this big and dangerous quest for me.
