  1. ok, so, ready for my next character then. Think this time I am going to follow a famous character in lotrs..so what choices are there? Gandalf: Breton(until a half elf race is made, which is closer to what he is...sorta) Heavy mage abilitys (all trees) and some decent speechcraft. Uses a longsword and staff as weapons. No armor at all, but in its place, enchanted stuff. (so, lots of perk points on maxing out enchantment first Lore furthering: Should choose ultimate neutrality in the war early on. decide after the dragon threat is over. Traveller and simple knowledge seeking for peaceful purposes. Judgement call after learning the extent of both sides (pros and cons). First stop, College of winterhold Saruman: Same as gandalf, but maxed speechcraft, and also much darker path. Power seeking. May side with the stormcloaks for personal motive (smaller rulerships are easier to conquor). Break apart empire to usher in a new age of conquest. First stop. College Aragorn: Nord (perhaps talo's bloodline). Light armor, some restoration, double handed sword, archery, Necromancer to some extent (until a spell comes out to spawn a army of the dead anyhow..thralls will have to work). Sneak skills, Illusion (rally). Should steer clear of cities unless necessary. Spend most time far out in the wilderness tracking down anything that could threaten travellers or cities. Unsure which side he would join in the war...tough call really. Work on speechcraft later in the game (initially he is a rather rough and abrasive type person). First stop, thieves guild. (mans got to eat) Gimli: Currently impossible until mods come out to shorten down and add a proper dwarf race Legolas: High elf. Archery, light armor, sneak, duel daggers, sword, Moderate speechcraft, enchantment, restoration Like Aragorn, spend most of the time away from cities. remain in the southern foresty areas for "base". Might even find a ruin that has the creature comforts and call that home. First stop: ..nowhere..go hunting and build up archery. Riverwood companion Faendal would be a good idea for training purposes Boromir: Imperial. Full spectrum weapons, heavy armor, high speechcraft (guy was an inspiration before darkness set in). Illusion (rally/Fear(horn)) Go with the companions, go with imperials asap to get rank. For the greater good of Cyrodiil should be the rule of thumb. (and ultimately to slaugher the Aldmeri Dominion once you gained enough power artifacts) Faramir: Imperial. Longsword and bow, sneak, pickpocket, etc..thief/assassin path) For the Imperials of course. Go to thieves guild. Lurtz: Orc. Vampire full stage (to get the approprate hate going). Heavy armor, Archery, alchemy, Illusion(fear), Conjuration, Head for the Dark Brotherhood, and try to get infected asap...don't feed. Get all your stuff from murdering. HOWEVER, first do the Whiterun quest (helping the jarl's boy out) to get the ebony blade (evil blade)..use approprately when your ready for your bad guy start. Thrall as many orcs as you can. Any and all hobbits: archery (until stone throwing mod is available). Full thief abilitys, Alchemy (cooking also..but thats not really a perk tree). Speechcraft focused on bartering. Enchanting to a degree (they like their shiny magical stuff) Hobbit race also impossible until mods to allow halfling race. Who did I miss, what did I get wrong, what did I forget Also, what is needed: White horse texture for dark brotherhood horse (shadowmere turned into shadowfax until mods come out that allows a conjuration spawning) For when playing gandalf. One ring super overpowered that turns you invisible and gives major bonuses to all, but also makes people hate you if worn (or some sort of major drawback..must be destroyed) Dwarves!!! (proper ones, not craptastic lost race elf dwarves of tes) Multi-companion mod Cloaks of sneaking.
  2. Yes, a full blown revamp of the vamp is in order..it seems overall to be mostly negatives. There should be groups that love vamps Also, they should be able to make thralls as an innate ability...once thralls become less zombie crapfest they currently are and more like a willing and totally adoring person towards you TES makes a great game, but their endless altering of traditional lore to something full of suck (tall ugly elves, vamps that aren't vamps, etc) sort of gets on my nerves.
  3. Its like wine tasting. those whom don't pay much attention find it all tastes the same, those whom have spent much time sipping and noting the variable qualities can. You are clearly not able to know the difference between sexy verses sleazy considering you fail to comprehend the difference.
  4. No Just basically asking: Less playboy, more Maxim/FHM
  5. The nocturnal robes are the absolute best female mage robes imo. I have that (in white), the head wreath from the bride quest (dark brotherhood), and etc...my chick looks stunning in the getup...highly sexy, highly feminine, and not even remotely sleazy..although her boobs appear to want to pop out of the gown and her arse is half exposed on the sideshots...still, there is enough to leave to the imagination, and its elegant...and reasonably lore friendly (for a mage) Your right thought Kitsune, the line between sleazy and sexy is a blurry subjective opinion, but I think we can agree that much of what is currently being put out is deep in the trashy area. Once the kit is released, yes, there will be a giant array of options to choose from, but for now, just trying to give the current "texture torturers" a bit of direction..delete in areas, not the whole bloody thing..will just remove my clothes if I want to run around naked
  6. I am of the opinion that sneak is perhaps the most overpowered tree in the whole game. I can literally roll through dungeons, full armor, carrying 400lbs of crap and not be detected by anything, including etherial demons, no traps, etc...roll in, roll out, leave everyone alive (and pickpocket any main quest givers). I kill stuff (backstab) simply out of boredom and wanting to get the "special move" cutscene...trying to perfect the distance and whatnot..tough to figure out But ya, with sneak, all but dragons become absolutely no challenge at all (hard to be beaten by something that doesn't even see you)
  7. Just a request for a line of sexy female armor...and by sexy I mean: Showing off lots of skin, but not nude Top cleavage but no nips leggings that spin around the leg verses just erasing it all and having a thong. The "sexy" clothing mods that are coming out are little more than nude mods with the odd feather or whatnot, fully exposing everything and leaving nothing to the imagination.. Nocturnal Robes = Sexy Forsworn Topless and Bottomless = trashy and stupid Forsworn Skimpy = Edging really...don't like the one nip hanging out..that sort of pushes it into trash So, anyone else agree? Surely I am not the only "perv" whom wants a bit more cloth separating the goods and giving a tease verses feel like I am in some tribal African village
  8. Well, I could take up the illusion and such, however, my "in game character" doesn't want to be useless..so, if he can do something to help his survivability out, he will...and yes, eventually he will be very useful and more than just a smooth talking wimp, but want to hold that off for ages. I think armor may be a good start...light armor of course (can't have that heavy stuff mess up my hair) Also, perhaps just the restoration tree of magic (can heal, but can't fight..will prolong the death experience to a long drawn out painful experience until final death) The most useless hero in skyrim.
  9. Well, to me, I would get bored of being in the land of cats. I think Valenwood is really the key, or the whole area in and around really if its set in the near future (kicking away the Thalmor/Aldmeri influence). To me, that seems the logical choice given the motivations of the people after skyrim is resolved one way or another (eyes now at the south). They are going to go big though..the cliffhangers of this are simply too big to ignore and so I wouldn't be at all suprised if they did all of Tamriel Of course you know if you remove clipping (and something else..not sure), you can go south and they have the entire map rendered out, of course the question is..why? there is no point anywhere in skyrim where you can see off into hammerfell, or cyrodiil, etc...no mountain that allows you to see morrowind, yet there it is, going on and on for ages in perfect landscape detail. So...what does it mean? I think they are testing it out...seeing how easily the landscape flows so that they can plop down the next thing..be it expansion packs, or more than likely TES6. It would be epic to go anywhere and everywhere...but your talking about a 30 hour direct play main quest turning into a hundred + hour direct main quest only gameplay experience...not fully sure if that is desirable..might be too overwhelming. Not for me, but for many.
  10. No, pirating is not a big problem Overall, the piracy of games accounts for about 10k in "lost" sales. I say lost in quotes because that in itself is not correct. Most people whom pirate something have no plans on ever purchasing it anyhow, so just grab it for free. I am not coming off as a pro-piracy guy, but rather just establishing the facts...if you sell a million copys, and are complaining about the 10k pirated versions (of which 7k were never going to buy anyhow), then you lost nothing. If they were truely upset about piracy, well, the same issue applies to consoles, be it chipped consoles, or simply using a burner to copy the game (downloaded from a pirate website)..so, that argument is still flawed. The reason why developers are soo focused on consoles is that quite often the head dudes are "in bed" with the console folks and get paid large sums of money to release it to their consoles first, or only, etc. Its corporatism at its finest that is the problem, not some ragtag net dudes snatching a free copy that have enough knowledge and lack of principles to do it to begin with.
  11. So Time for a new character. But instead of figuring out which new tank I want to make, I want to give a hell of a challenge. So...been considering this. I have about 81 skill points to deal with over time..eventually I am going to become some form of arse kicker (at least later on), but initially I want to make a "regular joe". Thinking Max out speechcraft first..(9 perk points) / Level 9 Max out Pickpocketing (12 points) / Level 21 Max out lockpicking (11 points) / Level 32 Max out Alchemy (13 points) / Level 45 Here is where I run into a problem, from this point on, I will have to start down an actual useful trade I could go into smithing, but making good swords/armor/etc will increase my likelyhood to survive. Same with enchantment. So, help me configure a path that allows me to be the highest level, while being still owned by skeevers...
  12. wait, I am confused. Why the living hell is Zelda even in the same arena as Skyrim? Now, I played TLOZ when it first came out for nintindo...the golden cartridge, etc...sure, it was fun, sure, I quite liked link...but it is a kids adventure game of crap when you compare it to Skyrim. Sorry, but whomever decided to put the two together should be kicked in the nads. Is it close? of course it will be close in votes. Why? because the 10 year olds whom have literally nothing better to do, and who's mother won't buy them skyrim due to its rating will only vote for what they know..meanwhile the others whom are either working, or actually playing the game will not even notice this poxy little survey So, thanks to the ops for pointing this survey out (not gonna vote though, not going to register with em), Skyrim V Zelda...pfft...next it will be CoD V Pong
  13. Its Steam, not steem (nitpicking) And..as mentioned in the other thread..nexus needs to allow for a donate to paypal button on the modders page...up to the modder if they want to toss a button on there or not. Who wouldn't like being tossed a few bucks for a mod well done anyhow? Donate I say...and with that, you don't have to worry about modders leaving.
  14. Before mods: Most girls are...hmm...passable in a unwashed sort of way After mods: Most girls are pretty smoking How to justify it via lore: Dibella, goddess of beauty and hawtness is hard at work teaching the people the magic of a wash cloth/skin care
  15. I think the nexus should offer the opportunity to simply allow for a "donate to this author" paypal button on their mod page...let the modder put up the button or not, purely their choice. No steam, no fuss,
  16. If -they- want to charge they will lose you as a buyer of -their- game.... Modders are not the developers of the game...it is some dude in his home that is ripping apart the game and enhancing it...like saying you personally made skyrim..did you? no...if you break apart the game and mod angel wings on all Bretons, does that make you suddenly owner of the elder scrolls series? no...it doesn't.
  17. Donate If its pay for mod (say a dollar), I would not spend a single penny over that no matter how kickarse it was...and would feel robbed if it sucked, demanding updates, etc...aka, I would be spoiled. If it was a donate, I would donate more for a very well done and expansive mod..perhaps even donate multiple times if they update well and expand, etc...donate system works a hell of a lot better than a standard fixed price (that will simply be pirated anyhow if it gets locked) I always recommend donation system...people like free stuff, but will give a buck here and there when they become fans of someones work..also, motivates us to want to do better at modding when we think some wealthy gamer will truely appreciate your work and toss maybe even a 20 or so at you for doing what he suggested...also, its a good understanding as to if you hit on something good. if you are doing 3 different areas of modding, one is making tons of donations, and the other two are doing nothing, clearly you will put more work in improving the thing that everyone seems to like enough to donate.
  18. My god, I LOVED dark sun. What an absolutely brilliant game! I would love to see that or like Balders Gate redone but in the open world sandbox sort of setting that elder scrolls is doing. I think it would be full of win. Also, Champions of Krynn (seriously old school) and the first Might and Magic. Remember when Hero's Quest first came out (so you want to be a hero)..around the same time era as the first leisure suit larry and such (omg, boobah's!) ok, yep, going back in time here
  19. As a mid/late 30s, I often wondered if I would be interested in gaming as I get older...I am so very glad that not only is that a "yup", but seemingly good gamers at that. I can only imagine what games will be like in 20-30 years from now (matrix plugin) I am glad that older people enjoy gaming. Currently the older crowd is pre-comp gaming, but starting to become less and less "kids stuff" as the atari 2600 gets up in years and gaming in general infests the elders of society...which is an absolutely great thing. the larger the demographics towards the 18-88 group, the more complex and interesting things become. As far as the subject...well, I am a fan of medium/hard difficulty overall. I play roleplay games like skyrim and such not for the endless street fighter feeling, but the overall immersion of living in this land...a storybook filled with all aspects...fighting, loving, quests, puzzles, and lots of scenery...if I want super difficult insanity, I would just invest my time in a first person shooter and not worry about plot, scenery, characters, etc. Got to keep in mind that TES is not a fps action game, it is a world you are invited to live in, for better or worse.
  20. -You find it curious why people don't tell you their most pressing life issue if you walk within 4 feet of them -You keep looking in the middle of nowhere for random gold coins and chests full of treasure -You keep tossing items on the ground because you can't seem to endlessly run (clearly you must be overencumbered) -You look curiously at your home after a few days wondering why everything didn't simply respawn nice and tidy -You killed a dog and tossed a crystal on it, wondering why you didn't collect its soul. -You joined the bowling league, and are a bit pissed that its been 3 days and your not head of all bowling leagues yet. -Traffic tickets makes you consider improving your speechcraft -You tell the cop at the traffic stop to look the other way, your part of the thieves guild (and are currently not reading this due to being in jail) -You wonder why the local stores are not interested in purchasing your sharpened butter knives... (I could go on)
  21. Well, lets be honest...its always been about the money. Even some backwoods inde developer is wanting to make money. What I hope is not for game developers to give the f-off to consoles, but rather for console developers to come closer to a PC layout so there is less dev time trying to muck around with the crap consoles and just focus on making a quality game we can buy. Any game developer that dismisses the consoles is a short lived game developer..so instead of asking them to shoot themselves in the foot, its best to ask places like xbox and ps to release a closer hybrid of the PC as their next console. Consoles are destroyers of quality gaming, I agree, but they are here to stay and must be catered to (the same way one must cater to a perpetual child.)
  22. Well, Since Arena, things have become a bit more complex technically speaking :P Actually, the Thalmor don't want a dragonborn on the throne. Remember, more than a mer are superior organization, they are a fundamentalist religious police first and foremost, and their focus is to remove the worship of other divines that are not mer (Talos). The "worship my gods or die" attitude they give off makes me want to stab them with a spoon
  23. The Second Aldmeri Dominion is an elven nation formed in the early Fourth Era after the events of the Oblivion Crisis. It was formed following the rise to power of the Thalmor in the Summerset Isles, renamed Alinor, and expanded to include Valenwood after a coup there. (from the scrolls wiki) The Aldmeri Dominion is not the Thalmor in the same way that Congress is not the President...However, the two are closely related. In this case, it would be like the National Socialist party of Germany and the Nazi party (very entangled and almost one in the same except for subtle differences and on paper at least a seperate thing...the Thalmor govern over the dominion and are the elven taliban) It was a overthrow and conquest by the thalmor. If you read more into it, you realize its not speaking for all elven kind, just the facist bastard high elves that are part of the aldmeri which sided with the thalmor. its a bit like saying the nazi party = germany...when in fact thats not the case..its a oversimplification that is wildly inaccurate...but perhaps common amongst the ignorant (ignorant not meaning idiotic, just unaware of the details) But ya, I see that as a plotline potential also...yet much like the line in skyrim, things are not simply good/bad, but rather a fine shade of gray on both sides
  24. At this point, ya...its all about giving yourself quirks.. You say your a warrior? two handed? impressive...so, call yourself a barbarian then and see all magic as wimply, or spooky and unnatural. use no enchantments, no potions, etc...live like a barbarian and reject all forms of magic and wizardry, from spell, to sword. That should kick things up for you. If your a uber master thief...why not go out without any weapons whatsoever...not even a dagger. be confident in your trade..(granted, my thief character wouldn't have an issue..with 100 stealth, and then all sorts of enchantment items reaching damn near 200 in stealth when its said and done, I can all but sit on their head and they wont see me) As far as others saying balance...no, the game is balanced. Part of the point of leveling up is to eventually go from moron with a wooden sword fighting rats, to uber arse kicker eating dragons for breakfast without breaking a sweat...thats the point of it. If you want to forever feel like the outside world is little more than death, then build up skills like speechcraft, lockpicking, etc...things that don't help you at all in battle but will level you up all the same...then you can be a level 50 wimp with a golden toungue "Greetings giant dragon, About the concept of you digesting me, I believe we should discuss this matter in finer details due to the...aaaahhhh,,,fire!!!"
  25. So, a interesting discussion to have is where TES 6 will be located at. When you consider the events of Skyrim, you realize its all one hell of a cliffhanger...so instead of just tossing any name out, try and understand the reasoning behind it Now, personally, I think they will do all of Tamriel, to include Morrowind, Skyrim, Cyrodiil, Valenwood, Hammerfell, etc...the whole continent (not summerset isle though, got to leave something for 7) Why? Well, first off, the new consoles will be out by then, allowing for bigger maps, more assets, etc...technically speaking, it will be not just possible, but easily done for consoles (got to remember those bastards) Second off, The plotline of skyrim tends to lead to the next big event being a massive scale. What is currently going on? Well, the Emperor, Titus Mead II is dead (be it by your hands or just story evolution) and a new government is about to be established. Skyrim is actually not an enemy of the empire, but rather an enemy of the occupied empire. Valenwood is taken over by the Thalmor (who are invaders from Summerset). I suspect an epic war scene over all of Tamriel between the Aldmeri Dominion (themselves split between the conquoring racist Thalmor and the traditional rule of the aldmeri) and the empire. Also, they must crown a new emperor, restore the blades, and perhaps get some new hidden Septim bloodline back on the throne, so it would seem that at least Cyrodiil is needed to be in the picture for that to happen So, thats my best guess. Otherwise, if they decide to only do a area...I suspect it will be Valenwood to fight the Thalmor..but that seems to be a bit small overall in Bethesda's general scope towards progressing the story. The other areas do not make any sense for the current storyline. Elsweyr = Why? nothing much going on there...cats doing their thing. Hammerfell= Hmm, maaaybe. But, there really isn't enough drama going on there to really effect the overall storyline. Black Marsh = Noooo. yuck. what a crap area Morrowind = Again, what is going in there in regards to the actual storyline...they are still having "issues" with nature over there anyhow. Anyhow, thoughts and justifications as to where the next Elder Scrolls chapter will take place
