About ItsDolomiteBaby

  1. I was wondering if the INI CPU tweaks in this guide are fore multiple CPUs only, or if it's for multi-core CPUs like my i7-3770 that has 8 processors that are hyper-threaded into 4 cores. It's a pretty nice CPU, and if I can get some extra performance with those tweaks, that'd be great. I just need to know if the tweaks are for multi CPUs (say, 2x i7 quad cores), or 1 CPU with multi-cores (like my i7).
  2. Reinstalation didn't do anything. I wonder what changed. Maybe it's my firewall being weird again. Stupid thing was keeping me from downloading Star Wars: The Old Republic. Maybe it's interfering with FC3... Or maybe it has to do with Nvidia? I hadn't optimized the game through Nvidia before, but I did recently. Where do the saves usually get stored? You'd think reinstalling would restore damaged or missing files and folders...
  3. I took a break from FC3 for a while (it was working just fine) to play Skyrim and BF4, but today I came back and my saves were gone. My custom controls and graphics stayed, but not my actual progress. It's pretty infuriating because the new saves will be there if I go to the main menu, but if I quit the game, either directly to desktop or after exiting to the menu then the desktop, when I start the game up my saves are gone again. It's as if some boogeyman script is deleting my saves upon exiting the game. Has anyone had this problem? I think I may have to re-install the game.
  4. Well, since the sky is always the same distance, there's no need for LOD textures (mipmaps), plus, mipmaps must be square shaped; the nebula is rectangular. I'll try the DXT5 format.
  5. I'm working on a custom ENB. I still need to test some conditions, and it will cut most people's frame rates in half (mine is 35fps average with my ENB). Here are some screenshots. Let me know if they are what you're looking for in an ENB. Sorry about the big pictures; I have seen people make thumbnail links, but I'm no web designer so this is as good as I can do at this time. Keep in mind you'll need a pretty high end PC. You don't need SLI, but it would help. My rig running 35fps: Base PC: Dell XPS 8500 CPU: 3rd Gen Intel Core i7-3770 @3.4GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 3.9GHz RAM: 12GB DDR3 SDRAM @1,600MHz GPU: Gigabyte OC Edition 4096MB DDR5 VRAM Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 PSU: EVGA Supernova NEX750G Storage: 2TB HDD (my weakest link)
  6. I want to make a custom galaxy/nebula, but I can't get it to look right in game. Do I save the DDS in Photoshop CS6 as a DX1 or something else? What about mipmaps? I don't think mipmaps are supposed to be enabled, since there is no LOD for the nebula, and the default file isn't 1:1 ratio.
  7. So while impersonating Mr. Torgue, I came across a very silly mod idea: DRAGONS THAT BREATH EXPLODING CHICKENS INSTEAD OF FIRE!!! Somehow I get the feeling exploding chickens are like cowbells; we need more.
  8. How about tackling uploads for images now? There seems to be odd occurrences where the site says the file isn't found, then it posts it anyway, as well as the opposite where a thumbnail shows, but the actual image just shows a sprite of a torn sheet of paper.
  9. I want to be able to take screenshots without any HUD UI, like in Skyrim when I use the console command "tm" to toggle menus. The camera seems like the most logical device in FC3 for this. When not using the camera, I still want to see my minimap, ammo, waypoints, "hold E to loot" notification, etc. I just want the camera to be devoid of any HUD elements for screenshot purposes. How can I do this? What files need to be edited, and how do I do that? I already know how to mod weapon values, so I have some basic knowledge in FC3 modding.
  10. The problem is the smithing system; every conceivable combination must be made into it's own ammo/object. I'm not too sure, but I don't think the enchanting system works that way. Perhaps the solution isn't to enchant the arrows, but rather the bow? The downside to that is (unless you mod your carry weight) bows have weight, and you'd have to specialize in one or two combos, and tertiary effects would have to merge with secondary effects due to Skyrim's horribly limited (compared with Oblivion) enchanting system. To make matters worse, I have the time to make the individual arrow combos, but not the know-how. Finally, even if I make the mod, it seems like it'd be doomed to obscurity because as astounding as this may be, it seems like all people are interested in is gladiatorial combat, wizardry, and things to help them get off to female characters. Those of us who prefer stealth, range, and cunning seem to get the arrow's shaft in the modding community. Seriously, how can you not want to fire an arrow into a horde of Foresworn berserkers that spawns airbursts every 10m or so and has a proxy airburst that turns them all into mindless chickens?! Think of the Gamer-poop possibilities of this mod!
  11. I know, right? How many times have you taken an arrow from a bandit or Foresworn who has no direct visual of you due to foliage obstructing the line of sight? You're looking around like, "WTF was that?!" It's like every NPC has Detect Life permanently activated. The solution is easy in concept: Foliage like bushes, trees, and tall alchemy plants (example: thistles) are not placed as a particle system like grass, and therefore must be objects. Objects can be modified to have an invisible and phasic (to avoid path issues) "hit box" that says to the AI, "ObstructLOS=true." Now, is that actually how the game works? I haven't a clue if that's possible to mod, but it's a start. If the AI can recognize a tree, wall, or even a barrel as a LOS-blocking object, then why not a bush?
  12. So to start off, I've seen some pretty cool arrow and spell mods, but nothing I've seen has this: Airburst arrows. Before you think, "Airburst arrows? That seems stupid," hear me out. As you know, magic and archery mods are pretty popular, especially The Last Altar. The amazing stuff that mod can do has given me hope for some arrow and magic hybridization. Obviously we aren't going to enchant the arrows at the enchanting tables, but rather forge them. The most powerful arrows would only be craftable once the player has maxed-out smithing, marksman, enchanting, and the school of magic associated with the arrow's enchantment. Keep in mind, that's for the super powerful arrows. The community uncapper will allow for multi Master level skill requirements. Now then, to start with a list of airburst arrows, the requirements, and their effects. Feel free to add your ideas as well; this could be really awesome! 13. How do I keep the sun from showing through buildings? Please point me to a mod or whatever will correct this. Here's what I'm talking about: http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h464/goatmen85/Snapbucket/Reserved/TESV2014-01-1716-58-09-37.png I'm using CoT - current version, current RLO, and the current ENB series. I would like to keep CoT and RLO, because as you can see here, it looks fantastic, especially at the 90fps I'm running @1080p with 16xAF, 2xMSAA, DoF, and 2K textures.
