  1. Removing the static mesh mod & water mod seemed to fix it for a while there. Riverwood no longer CTDs and I got a good couple of hours play out of the game without issue. Persistent CTD at the fallen tree/chest next to Riverwood though (bwa?) and a current persistent CTD on approach to Whiterun. Removed the Lindsey Stirling main menu replacement music (mostly because I never linger in the main menu long enough to hear it properly) and this had a knock-on effect of stopping the game from running in faux-windowed mode (no idea why) which in turn eliminated the CTD on Whiterun although it did start an infinite load error (in Skyrim world, not interiors) which was fixed with running the 'safety load' mod. Still had a random CTD later during a dragon fight.
  2. Stripped everything, reinstalled SKyrim, put back only the minimal mods I had that used to run just fine... and have the same problem. On the upside, adjusting my grid load settings gets me into Riverwood now (and apparently this is a CTD location for many people with any mods at all, even just one) so I might try a work-around where I start a game in vanilla, quest through that area, then save well outside it and load the save game through mod organiser from there on, showracemenu-ing my girl into the proper style I want. (Or maybe I can make it around Riverwood to hit up Whitehall... that might be possible.) Seems crazy that I can slow-mo murder a dozen bandits and wolves without issue, but the second I get close to Riverwood... death. Has anyone had experience with mods through the Steam Workshop being less problematic? Oh yeah, and also my game is now playing in windowed mode (except you can't actually click on or affect the window) that bleeds onto my second monitor. I suspect that's due to the loading/menu mod I added but as annoying as the taskbar is, I love the new menu way too much to remove it. I'll sort that out later, if and when I can get the actual game to function. Thanks again to those people who offered suggestions. I'll post progress, if I have any.
  3. I understand. This same thing happened to me - probably because of a new mod. Started playing Skyrim and the controls for the mouse buttons had been reversed. Used to be left = left hand, right = right hand, but suddenly not any more. Irritating.
  4. Safety load fixed the infinite loading screens - but that didn't used to be a problem and is probably related to the overall issue. All my texture mods are mid to minimal quality because I've always valued FPS over quality. When I play the game with the intro, it crashes before Helgen ever comes into view. When I play the game and skip the intro, it freezes at approximately 4 minute intervals with no connecting theme that I've noticed (in the woods, by the river, killing animals or even just standing still and checking myself out). The only major thing(s) I've changed since my last stable load is the ENB, Climates of Tamriel, Project ENB and the replacing of W.A.T.E.R with Realistic Water Two + Watercolor. I picked them because they seemed to be uncomplicated, undemanding and well within my PC's capability. After almost a week of dedicated work and a heck of a lot of swearing, I really don't want to concede defeat - but it's looking like I should just go back to ugly vanilla visuals. Or maybe try modding through Steam... Surely that has to be less problematic... Edit: I flew around and, as with walking, it was fine until suddenly it froze. I went upstream, rocks and trees popping in after I arrived, then over the mountain and down - then freeze. Edit 2: Have removed CoT and it is running for much longer before CTD. Will continue experimenting.
  5. Nah. The only fiddling I've done is adjust the enblocal, ini & prefs settings in accordance with this: http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:ENB#tab=Quickstart To the letter.
  6. Thank you. :) I always run Wrye Bash after changing anything, before running Skyrim again to test. I never have anything but green in Wrye Bash.
  7. Skyrim performance monitor is already running. I can't play for 10-15 minutes anymore. :)
  8. Okay, I'm at an utter loss. LOOT throws up zero dirty edits (beyond official DLC and unofficial patches), no errors, papyrus log just lists " Error: Cannot call GetRef() on a None object, aborting function call stack: [DialogueFollower (000750BA)].dialoguefollowerscript.CountFollowers() - "DialogueFollowerScript.psc" Line 62 [DialogueFollower (000750BA)].dialoguefollowerscript.OnUpdate() - "DialogueFollowerScript.psc" Line 97 " before the game freezes or CTDs and now it's always always happening during the intro cutscene and I can't for the life of me work out why. My LOOT load, in the last desperate hope that someone can point out an error.
  9. Ah, good point. Maybe I somehow ran the installer twice? :/ ? No matter. Let's tweak that and try again... *crosses fingers* Damn. The only change was that this time it CTD instead of freezing. *strangles mods* Okay, trying again. Thanks anyway, the help is appreciated. Edit: I've added the results of my papyrus log (select excerpts) along with my attempts to fix em. If anything works, I'll post it here. If not, maybe it'll be of some help to other people experiencing similar issues.
  10. Oh sweet. For some reason, Ctrl C simply would not work. But the ole right-click-copy did. It always says GenerateFNISforUsers (which doesn't seem capable of 'seeing' any new animation mods, nor 'unseeing' deleted ones) but I'm ignoring that for now. Fixed. Which are the 2 night levels/patches for night levels? I thought Immersive Interiors might be an issue but the nexus page says it works fine with ENB, weather and Enhanced lights n FX.
  11. Did you read the LOOT log??....IT really should have complained about of number of things wrong with this load order. Read it carefully. I can point to 2 things at least. Copy the Entire right side of the Loot log and paste in a spoiler here...as i cant copy and paste from what you posted as a load order... Can't find a log - do you mean the report? All it throws up are a few dirty edits, most in the unofficial patches or official DLC. Non-offical mods marked as dirty are: All except CoT patch and the armor complilation are old and have worked without issue. I can't seem to copy-paste anything from loot... I've gone over it again for potentially conflicting or out of order mods and all I can think of is that maybe somehow some of the new visual mods aren't playing well. I've checked all their nexus pages for advised load order and compatibility. but... no dice. Here's the shortlist of my visual mods, in their load order - anything jump out as conflicting?
  12. I've spent about four straight days re-modding my Skyrim and slowly working through BOSS errors and CTDs. I've mostly got everything sorted (Boss has 0 warnings, 25 unknown; bashed load all green except 1) but I'm struggling to fix a current freeze/CTD issue and I'm hoping someone here might take a second to eyeball my mod list (and point out that 'duh, X and Y don't work together'). I start a new game each time I test it (removing mods each time) and the game seems to run perfectly fine for up to twenty minutes, sometimes less than ten seconds. I have tried the 'skip opening' mod and run in different directions but there doesn't seem to be any common elements to the times when it freezes. One of the fixes I added for infinite load screens (safety load mod) may be responsible for the game sometimes freezing instead of just CTDing. Any ideas?
  13. *Edit: Fail. Riverwood, not Whiterun. So I've been working my way through modding for Skyrim, slowly learning how everything works and fixing problems as they arise but this is something I can't seem to figure out. My game tends to crash to desktop every several minutes - I'm still working on that - but when I approach Riverwood it reliably crashes - sometimes blue-screening. I have run Skyrim Performance Monitor to see if I'm overloading my computer but my RAM and VRAM never goes over 1200mb and my GPU strolls along at 40%. My CPU does tend to spike to 80% right before the crash, however. I'm not sure what this is indicative of. I have cleaned my mods and bashed them. The only ones that should affect Riverwood specifically are Birds of Skyrim, More Village Animals, Sexy Whiterun v.3, Static Mesh Improvement, W.A.T.E.R or Riverwood Mansion. The only things I can think of to try (although blue-screening makes me anxious for the health of my computer) is removing the last four, in various combinations. Any ideas?
