Just one question, please: I'm trying to manually download a mod and then add it to the NMM with the "Add Mod from File". It's a .7z, but when I click on it, nothing happens, it doesn't show up anywhere in the NMM overview.

I take it this options is affected by the current updating process as well?

Easy peasy. First, create a folder on your desktop, easy to find. Second, manually download, rerouting the file to the new desktop file. I named mine NMM just for easy searching. Now swap to the manager. There is a little folder box at the top left with a + symbol on it. Click that, on the left of the new pop up, choose desktop, find your folder, open it to find your mod, click and watch the magic happen.

top left corner when you're in the categories tab there's a button that if you hover over it, there is a tool tip that shows you can hit it and then navigate to your download folder, select your downloaded mod and then import it. it will unpack it just like normal and then you can activate it.

Well, it worked for me when I downloaded the mod and launched NMM while offline. Then, I put the downloaded mod (still in .rar, otherwise it didn´t work) in NMM´s mods readme folder ( if you don´t know where it is, just click on the folder icon in NMM,it´s between "tools" and "settings". You´ll get to the "mods" folder.). From there, double click on "ReadMe" folder, open it and put the downloaded mod in it. Go back to NMM, click on " add mod from file" and then just activate the mod as usual.
I hope it works, sorry for my bad english.

i'm assuming you have 7zip installed, heh. odd that it doesn't work that way. i changed over to mod organizer for this new install of skyrim but if i remember correctly (and sometimes i don't) you might be able to drag from windows explorer and just drop it into your categories tab. worth a shot anyway.
