the actual game arma 2 itself is amazing it a billion times more true to war than mw3((cant stand it) or bf3(love it) its amazing setting up on a hilltop with a thermal m108 zeroing in the scope and taking out every thing in sight than go jump in a heli or a tank, jet, boatand move in to take the town i urge anyone who has not played it to youtube it and see if its your thing it is pretty hard to get used to the awkward controls but very fun once again thanks mate have a good day -

ok well thats a no brainer then i will go with the 2gb version thanks that comparison is pretty awesome but i found myself switching between the 2 and not really noticing much difference up close but at a distance past a point everything looks crisper sharper more pretty thanks for those links now i can see that the af is heaps better than i thought ok so with the build as is can i expect the following please confirm high settings 2xmsaa 4x or 8xaf hi res dlc lets say 200 mods with a solid fps of 30+ maybe dipping down to 25+ when in a mod warzone stress test also i was asked to find out if this had a chance at playing day z even if it was a little laggy lets say 25+ fps?? i generally think if it will play skyrim on high it should do more demanding games at medium oh and ps your awesome rennn thanks i just remembered i have $55 in store credit from a faulty soundcard im going to look and see if i can get to a 660 and stay under budget -

Hi I’m planning a build for a friend wants it to be as close to $500 AUD as possible $550 Hard Limit he has an os I’m happy with this build so far not going to break benchmarks but also not going to break the bank It’s for Skyrim mostly He wants medium to high setting with a solid 30 fps (no or low aa/af) With the high res texture pack DlC and possibly the mod high res 2k no enb but hundreds of mods · How will the build I have stated handle Skyrim? · Can or will it run arma 2 day z · Will it be able to get good average fps 30+ in medium – high? · Can I save money on the build using ONLY!! pccasegear.com · Are there any problems that this build will have i.e bottleneck/underpowered Thermaltake V4 Black Edition Case with 500W USB3.0 $75 Samsung SH-222BB SATA DVDRW Drive OEM $19 Intel Core i3 3220 $129 ASRock B75 Pro3-M Motherboard $62 EVGA GeForce GTX 650 2GB $139 Corsair CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 $55 Seagate Barracuda 500GB ST500DM002 $59 $538

try setting your sound card or on-board audio back to default if its not already in task manager go to processes tab - view (top bar) columns and select pf delta, I/O read bytes,I/O write bytes and see what happens during a normal load then put one of the games that have a problem in windowed mode with the task manager in view on the other side of the screen and see if there are any massive increases or spikes in any of the 3 new columns(sort but the new columns) if there is find out the process name AND GOOGLE IT FIRST honestly you can cause more problems buy just blindly ending processes also try the resource manager from task manger go to performance tab and its down the bottom look for frequent spikes if you see spikes then try to find out what process is causing it and what it is relating to (what program uses the process) you may find it is a monitoring program do you have any programs installed that check temperature or performance do you have any gaming mouse/keyboard i have found the program that tells my pc how charged my mouse is spikes like this which causes lockups sound problems like a quick mechanical squeak good luck -
you should be able to get it from steam if you bought it there if you got a hard copy dowload and install steam make a free account and link skyrim if you are asking how to get the creation kit for a pirated game shame on you google your question its took me 20 second to find it but it is illegal to get it from anyone other than steam i believe so don't

Strange problem with UAC makes my games freeze
vincenexus replied to thomriis's topic in Hardware and software discussion
do you mod fallout 3? do you use boss for fallout 3? i know this game can easily be completely screwed by a bad mod load order have you ever installed any extra codec packs? have you got a recent system restore point cant hurt try the resource manager from task manger go to perfomance tab and its down the bottom look for frequent spikes do you have the option to do a full re-install (of windows) i pretty much do this on any situation that i have no idea what is causing it just some ideas try setting your sound card to a lower setting best to reset to default, sounds weird but it has helped me a few times in task manager go to processes tab - view (top bar) columns and select pf delta, I/O read bytes,I/O write bytes and see what happens during a normal load then put one of the games that have a problem in windowed mode with the task manager in view on the other side of the screen and see if there are any massive increases in any of the 3 new columns(sort but the new columns) if there is find out the process name AND GOOGLE IT FIRST honestly you can cause more problems buy just blindly ending processes if none of that works you may need to do a full windows re install i know it is a long annoying task but it will give you a clean slate and then you know if it is still not working properly then my best guess would be hardware issues good luck -
Will this laptop play....
vincenexus replied to BooneoftheWasteland's topic in Hardware and software discussion
this should get a decent fps on high to max with oblivion fallout 3 (there are a few mods for both that will let you get even better fps) medium to high setting on fallout new vegas (Make sure to get the stutter remover mod and the unofficial patches) medium for dragon age O (but don't quote me on that because i haven't touched the game in ages) and for skyrim with the high res dlc patch id say medium but a stable medium (just avoid enb and the massive texture mods) sounds like a decent setup i game exclusively on older laptops because im poor and with my old 512mb gfx 2.4ghz dual core 2 i was doing roughly the same as stated above with a rough 25 fps your system will get easily double that leaving room for the best mods the setting i mentioned are a rough estimate you will almost definitely do better than i stated -
thanks for clearing that up for me fmod lol i am in Australia micro-center is only in us newegg does not ship cheap to Australia and the aud is pretty high i only have one screen @ 1080p i may later on if i decide to get triple screen setup sli thats why i went with the msi mobo extra 2 pci-e plus it looks badass i reckon i will do alright with this card on skyrim with one EVGA GeForce GTX 770 SC ACX 2GB because it gives An Average 130 FPS! http://www.hitechlegion.com/reviews/graphics/35113-evga-770sc-acx?showall=1&limitstart= i have read many reviews on the xigmatek aegir it looks just as good as the nocturna and is cheeper i only need a 4Ghz OC the 780s are way out of my price range though they look awesome the titan well if i was rich i would already have one but Beriallord i do have to thank you for your suggestions you did make me think twice about the sound card i know i would love the STX for lossless music probably have an eargasm but i need to know how it is for gaming and cant find much testimony from people who game with it or if i do 1 or 2 post after it there will be someone who disagrees very confusing and frustrating do any of the users reading this have an Asus Xonar Essence STX and if so how does it do with games like arma 2, skyrim and battlefield 3 cheers
-
kalikka do you own a STX? i want to know how good the unified drivers are for gaming i know it will be amazing listening to full lossless through my ATH-M50's (i might get a 600 ohm pair of cans after this card) but i have heard some back and forth between forums that argue that it is a near audiophile card but not great for games i think i will be amazing for both but as i have never looked into Sound Cards i wanted to make sure this is an all rounder
-
fmod your the man thanks and thanks to everyone for your reply's so far i had to go with the Asus Xonar Essence STX after reading about 100 different reviews this one meets my near audiophile needs for lossless music through headphones and my gaming needs with is unified drivers and all that jazz and the total still comes under $2500 AUD which is my hard limit after postage and parcell protection $2300 and Im getting platinum rated power A beast of a GFX Card A dreamy Sound Card 1150 Socket K so i can overclock (Just a bit) and i still get my super expensive case that makes me drool hehe this build to me looks finished but if there are any more things anyone would like to add i would appreciate it made one change mostly on aesthetics to the MoBo MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Motherboard Now its Black Red And Gold for $30 More but aside from aesthetics it has 3x PCI-E 3.0 x16 if i ever feel the need for SLI for Multiple Screen Setup but it does have a lot of bells and whistles like the GUI Bios Easy Overcloking, oh and the Vga Boost but it's most likely a gimmick Plus and i know i'm sad i get the Powered By EVGA case badge and the Gaming G Series MSi badge and it will look badass hehe

Ok so i have got a bigger SSD 1TB less on the HDD went with the Pro 4 MOBO and chose the Sound Blaster Z as the SoundCard the Xonar DX did not state to have a headphone amp and i have read it does not do great with headphones as i live in a unit i wont be using the speakers i have much and i play mostly at night so headphones are my main audioP.S i know my headphones dont need a 600 ohm amp probably overkill getting a 100 ohm amp if they existed but i previously owned a Xonar U3 USB Soundcard Before i had to RMA it twice and the headphones through that were 10 fold what they are with the on-board laptop audio Acer Aspire S3 im not a massive audiophile but do own a lot of lossless audio go into it once i got my ATH-M50's and i need a dedicated headphone amp its just not the same without it and after returning my Xonar U3 for store credit i just dont get the same buzz form the lossless this is the cheapest i can find on pccasegear that states that it has a headphone amp its getting a little pricey but i can see the benefits of a dedicated Sound Card And Bigger SSD went back to the i5 k for price reasons but i have read it can get to 4.5Ghz stable that's more than enough i probably wont get that high with an air cooler but i will settle for a 4Ghz overclock
