  3. this change is gauche, annoying, and deeply inconvenient, but i dont think its a bug. its just a really s#*! idea.
  4. i recently acquired this bug, and it threatens to destroy a playthrough with hundreds of hours invested. the only thing that briefly worked was loading an old save before the bug occurred . . . but then it just occurred again a few days later. no obvious or conventional solution works. nothing does anything.
  5. anyone know what happened to Tomebound? Nexus just says mod not found, but no reason or explanation is given. i seem to recall the mod author not being active for some time, but did he take it down intentionally? was there a removal/ban?

UPDATE: i tried typing this before, in detail, but it was obliterated and never posted. this time i will be more concise, im trying a strategy of PRID (npc's refid), recycleactor. i have tried this on a total of 6 dragon priests - the 6 i have killed. it works on exactly half of them. for the other half, their refids (as found on UESP) just dont work. invalid object or some such error. if i use player.placeatme (baseid) for the dragon priest in question - Vokun, Volsung, and Krosis, in case it matters - they appear. from there, i can find their refid with console . . . except it returns an insane value. FF00xxxx, which is apparently the index for dynamically created objects or something. moreover, that value fluctates a lot; it changes when i load different saves with the same load order, or even when i simply transition zones. finally, it doesnt work. PRID ff00xxxx targets the correct dragon priest, but recycleactor does nothing, unlike for the other three npcs. those it works for are Rahgot, Morokei, and Hevnoraak. cant see what the real difference is between those for whom it works and those for whom it doesnt. all six are modified by the same addon - RebirthMonster.esp. some are the object of special quests, like Vokun and Hevnorakk, but one works and one doesnt. i tried resting for 30 days to reset the relevant cells, but that didnt change a thing. this is the answer to my problem, im sure of it.
  8. title describes my problem: i have set a number of powerful NPCs (most of the dragon priests) to respawn, so that i can enjoy the super-difficult fights they present with real bosses and high level enemies, i made a patch for those two mods so they play nice. i manually resolved conflicts for the dragon priests. i flagged the ones i wanted as respawn. i checked with xEdit for conflict loss, and nothing is over-riding. i made a bashed patch. i have all cells respawn, and set the respawn rate for cleared cells to 10 days via wryebash. i enter a nordic ruin which i know to have contained a dragon priest which i have set to respawn - Otar the Mad or Vokun usually. their dungeons have reset, but the priests are nowhere to be found. also tried with Krosis, because he doesnt have a dungeon, poor guy. he also does not appear. in each case, i have already killed the dragon priest, and did so before i set them to respawn. are they forever gone in this playthough then? is there something i need to set that i havent? will i maybe be able to get them back if i force-spawn them with console? will they maybe start respawning thereafter?
  9. that is my problem. i have a few mods in my load order (Tomebound and Ace Blood Magic in particular) and both have spells which stack with themselves, which makes them . . . too strong to say the least =/ i have tried editing the spells in question with both xEdit and the CK, but no boxes i click seem to do anything. editing the spell and editing the magic effects they reference doesnt produce the desired result, but more mundane changes do. i have altered the No Recast tag, the Recover tag, added keywords, tried Dispel with Keywords. nuffin. all i want is for the spells to not stack with multiple casts of itself. how do i do that? what am i doing wrong? >.< i have tried to contact the mod authors individually, but so far no replies. to be very clear, these modifications are for my personal use in my game. i have no intention of uploading these changes anywhere, any time.
  10. since yesterday, for no apparent reason, my NMM has begun to freeze whenever i click on a mod in order to interact with it. i can scroll around, i can reorder mods (though that usually causes a prolonged freeze as well, which the program eventually gets out of), i can download mods and watch the progress bar fill up but if i attempt to click on anything whatsoever under the mod tab, NMM will freeze instantly, and will never recover. the program is also taking a much longer time to load, and will freeze for a few minutes immediately after starting.
  11. im having this exact problem, but the advice given simply does not make any sense, i have controls set to default, so i go into the favourites menu, mouse over the item i want to put into a group, hit 'f", and . . . nothing happens. nothing at all. so i remap the group button to 'v', enter the favourites menu, mouse over the item i want to put into a group, hit 'v', and . . . nothing happens. nothing at all. repeat with 'g'. what am i doing wrong? watching the video suggested above, i definitely see one problem: that favorites menu is not even close to the one i see. the one *I* see is full-screen, pauses the game when opened, has all sorts of columns and categories, and no option for groups.
  12. im not sure what mod added this spell, but with ASIS, its kinda ruining my game. the most obvious effect of it is a weird "ping" sound when enemies begin charging it - which can be heard MILES away, as if the player were the source of the sound, not the NPC - and a steam of long skinny lightning bolts when it is cast. the problem is that itll deal about 1000 damage to me in a single second, penetrating all shields and resistances, and damn near every spellcasting forsworn uses it constantly. instructing ASIS to not assign this spell to NPCs would be easy if i had ANY idea where this spell is coming from. does anyone know?
  13. so for the last little while, every time i die, my character staggers around for a second (literally, one second), before returning to fll health. i have no mods which do explicitly this, and the only clue as to WHAT is going on is the message i get every time "you cant continue fighting" trying help "continue fighting" in the console produces no results whatever. so does anyone have an idea which mod might be doing this so i might remove it. and before you say "load order", i can browse load order myself, and have done so, so unless you have specific information there's probably not much you can do that i cannot.

  15. straightforward in sound, during the Proving Honour quest, after i pull the lever and get trapped in the cage, Farkas 1: gets confronted by the silver hand, 2: turns into a werewolf, 3: murders them all, 4: runs down the corridor and never returns. HMM. that last part seems like a bug to me. ive tried four times from various saves, and every time, the same thing happens, except for once. One time, the silver hand fought him until he appeared to "die", which is stand there and bleed, after which he ran back into the room and stood there bleeding while the remaining silver hand stood threatening me. id love to progress with the companion at least until i can craft some skyforge steel gear, but this appears to prohibit that. any ideas?
  16. i keep getting this bug too, and so far the only answer ive had is to load an old save. i also have immersive beds i think, but i can load a save made subsequent to accidentally sleeping, and it seems fine. however, i also have better vampires, and i notice that if my sucking animation breaks, due to being in combat or on a different level than my target, that will often appear to cause this bug

  18. i recall seeing this somewhere, but now i cant seem to find it. im seeking a mod that allows me to see the slot occupied by varies items, so that i can build sets without accidentally unequipping cool looking stuff.
  19. yep, the problem is that simple, and that weird. whenever i deliver a blow to a bandit, for example, strong enough to stagger him, he will usually play an unarmed stagger animation, and re-draw the weapon. my initial thought was that some animation mod had borked the animation, but i have no mod of any sort that screws with stagger anims. any thoughts? its obviously not a huge problem, but it is immersion breaking, and annoying.

  23. not sure where to put this - there doesnt seem to be a thread for NMM tech support - though as one of the most buggy and inconsistent programs ive ever been forced to use, it certainly needs it. starting today, NMM freezes as soon as i attempt to enter the "mods" tab. this began quite out of the blue. this morning, it worked without a hitch. this afternoon, it freezes every time. i got into the tab ONCE, and clicked a single tree option, which had the effect of uninstalling a mod - i do not know which one - and now, no matter how long i wait - entering the mod tab is impossible.
  24. in my (heavily modded) game, im noticing that enemy casters above a certainly level almost never cast offensive spells. they simply run around buffing and healing themselves, often summoning, but never actually attacking. most pertinent of my mods are ASIS to add spells from damn near every magic mod out there - Phenderix, Apocalypse, Better Magic, etc - to copious NPC. again, ASIS to make Deadly Dragons, SkyMoMod, and Higher Level Enemies. im not sure exactly WHAT they are casting, but only rarely is it a damage-dealing spell, which means i can run amok amongst casters, hewing with my sword while they try to heal. it is immersion breaking, and no challenge whatsoever, whereas if they WERE attacking, id be toast. any ideas? has anyone else seen this before?
