Haha, the first time I used LOOT for this version of skyrim was when I encountered this issue. I was downloading like 1 or 2 mods at a time, so load order never overwhelmed me. I agree that the load order looks jacked up, but that's LOOT's fault lol The only warnings I get when I run LOOT are for the original Skyrim masters. When I run Wrye Bash, a couple mods are red, but they are ones I've been using with no issue earlier. If they are missing masters, how do I find out? In Wrye Bash, it has a little box that says "masters," but only blue, red, or green numbers are inside, no titles or anything of what is allegedly missing all of a sudden :( I verified game archives with steam, no dice. When I try to load through steam instead of SKSE64, I can get the load menu to pop up, but when I click "play," nothing at all happens. I used Wrye Bash and made a bashed patch, and again, no dice. It's just so frustrating because I literally played allllllllll day yesterday, decided to look at a couple mods before going to bed, and now everything is broken. It's very frustrating. Are you saying we don't think it's the mods or it still might be? On a hopefully unrelated note, I also noticed that my Dark Souls PtDE and Dark Souls 2 will not load from Steam either, and I KNOW I didn't do anything new to them... Is there some bad steam or windows update out there maybe? Thank you so much for your time!

Hello all, I recently (like within the past week) started playing this game and have been trying to use mostly "light" mods that won't brick my game like what kept happening to Oldrim. I installed four mods last night (Total Character Makeover, Player size adjuster and camera height fix, fast travel from interiors, and Interesting NPCs) and then my game didn't load anymore. I used LOOT and sorted my load order, nope. I uninstalled all the mods I tried that were new and then still nothing. When I say 'doesn't load,' I mean I'll open Steam, open SKSE64, the black screen will popup for a second, and then it never loads. I have attached my remaining load order that was 100% stable before I tried those mods I got rid of. Any help is VERY appreciated. SOLVED There was a virus on my PC that was hogging both my hard drives' resources; the impact was most noticeable with oblivion vs other games for some reason. The viruses were destroyed and now the game plays amazingly again; better than ever I'd daresay! :D So, for anyone out there experiencing similar jerky slowdowns and you've tried everything in-game to fix it, consider doing deep scans in your registry files for hidden viruses.

I put the task manager on in the background after I quit and once or twice, windows was doing... something that took a lot of disk and cpu power, but when it ended, the problems persisted. I really appreciate all your help (both times!), I think I'm just gonna play skyrim for a while until I have time in a few months to really dig in... My only other thought could be that I'm doing something wrong that's really basic, like launching it using the wrong launcher or accidentally turned off some absolute n00b setting (like how in the Fallout 4 ini you have to type 'enable mods' or whatever, as an example). But, from everything I've read and tried in the past, this doesn't quite add up :( But I really do appreciate all your help :)

Hey, thank you again for all your replies :smile: So i rebuild the Bashed patch with only default settings like you suggested, and I just flat out turned off Oblivion Reloaded. No improvements :-/ I did keep the "lock load order" checked before BOSS sorted my stuff and I just moved them manually; LOOT tried to reorganize my oblivion once and it was a total mess. No idea why this is happening... even watching the mouse is move is like its moving through mud... EDIT: I resorted with LOOT just to absolutely try everything.... NO improvement :( I'm legitimately out of ideas at this point... I've done everything from last time this happened and nothing has gotten better... Crud.

UPDATE: I looked up a youtube video about how to create a bashed patch and made one, but not really any significant performance difference. I also reset my A Bomb counter to 0 and deleted a majority of the saves in the folder (backing them up first, of course). Last time, this seemed to have been solved purely by load order rearrangement, but I'm almost certain I haven't touched anything since I got it working last time (didn't want to endure this frustration again ARGH). Here is the youtube video I watched to make sure it wasn't bad info... Also, my "new" load order is down below. BOSS says I don't really have dirty edits (I scrubbed every mod last time this happened) and I trust it's sorting; I used LOOT a while back and that royally messed up everything. My only other thought is maybe Oblivion Reloaded? I've been playing with the .ini to make my game look better (and to get rid of some of the features I wasn't keen on), but I don't see why it would cause such a performance hit (even my mouse is slowed down on the title screen and main menu). I don't have a bashed patch... I never really understood what they did, and I always got warning boxes afterward and couldn't figure out what was going on. Could that be my issue? When I make a bashed patch, do I turn off the patches that were combined and only run the bashed patch instead of say the ten it came from? My A-Bomb percentage is only about 3.4%. I have roughly 64 files in my save folder (32 separate saves)... maybe excessive there too? Lol, thank you so much for your input...

I posted here a few weeks ago... someone told me to use BOSS to try sorting load order and to clean my mods, and it worked beautifully!!! for a time. Now, not sure what is different or what happened in the background, but the choppiness is back, and I haven't so much as touched the mods since I got it working again. OH MY GOSH!!!! YOU FIXED IT! Thank you so much! I can finally play my favorite game of all time again! I'm not sure how my plug-ins got so out of whack, but you were right; BOSS sorted it right out and now it works awesome again :)

For what it's worth, I cleaned up dirty mods in TES4Edit, created a new bashed patch with what could be merged, and made sure it wasn't the "a-bomb" glitch. No improvement.

I've had this game for over a year on this computer and it's been running fine, but now, out of nowhere, it is running in like choppy slow-motion. My CPU is a 3.4 GHz intel Xeon, 16 GB of ram, and I have a GTX 1080, so I doubt it's hardware related. Also, using Windows 10. The weirdest part is that it isn't so much an FPS loss (in Chorrol, Imperial City, and wilderness, it still shows at least 20 FPS), but smoothness as a whole. It is almost like someone is fast forwarding on a DVR; you can see the motions actors and objects are trying to make, but they are skipping frames in their animations; the mouse doesn't move fluidly, it jerks around; even menu screens take a lot longer to load; firing an arrow or spell takes forever, the lightning bolt will stay on screen for like 5 seconds after I "fire". I followed the steps on the ini guide for performance and I don't have anything funky happening there. I already had Oblivion Stutter Remover but I double-checked it's settings, and those should be working. I downloaded a borderless windowed mod (one tweak) and Whisper Feet MAX, and those helped, but the game is still choppy and unplayable. To me, the weirdest part is that it even happens on the menus and title logos; All the threads I've seen are about just "FPS loss," but this is a gamewide issue from the moment it launches. I've tried googling over and over again, but all I keep finding is the "blurry vision / perma-concussion" glitch, and that is not what is happening. Several objects in the game seem to be acting like there is a "gas" around them (the flammable "shoot it and flames happen" type). It's really weird. I've been playing for 200+ hours and have never seen such a thing and am not sure what to call it. It first appeared when I went to rescue Nordhagen beach from invading ghouls and not it follows me everywhere: trees, billboards, even Dogmeat. My character is not (nor do I ever really think he's concussed) and most textures are fine, but they just act like they're always *wiggling" or I'm trying to open my eyes underwater or something. Any ideas? Anyone heard of this?

I installed the Direct X thing from Tangyboxhead. I will try it out now. I just have vanilla Fallout 3, I had to buy the DLC separately. It isn't Steam, it's disk based. I don't like not having disks. I have Skyrim running fine on my computer for months now, I'd think it's the same thing, but I guess not. Edit - Just tried again, No changes. >.<

Hi everyone, I've been trying everything I can to make the game work on my Windows 7 (64 bit) laptop, but nothing seems to work. I installed the game to a location where I don't need to run it as admin. I've downloaded the d3d9.dll (or something like that) file and placed it in the right place. I've used the unofficial Fallout 3 patch. I've gotten the official patch for the most recent version. I've run as admin. I've run in compatibility mode. I downloaded the most recent version of "Games for Windows Marketplace." I turned off (and back on) the Net3.0 (I think its called) Windows feature. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, but still, nothing works. No matter what, the game will load to the title screen, I'll select new game, and then the window will pop up that says "Fallout 3 has stopped working" and I have to Ctrl Alt Del out of there. All the posts I've seen online have only suggested the solutions I've listed here that I've already tried so I'm really at a loss as to what I'm supposed to try next. I even tried loading through Nexus and that didn't work either (I don't have any mods installed; I have some DLC, but the game doesn't work even when I take the DLC off so that isn't it either). If anyone has anything that worked for them that isn't listed here, I'd really appreciate it :smile: I have not downloaded the newest Direct X because I have no idea which one to install or where to find it, come to think of it.
