  1. Again, still not talking about the game developers. Nexus didn't make any of the games in question. This is a site for hosting mods. So what we are talking about is those who take active efforts to make mods that exclude groups of people - and Nexus' decision to not host bigoted mods. You, in your home, may not have any members of the aforementioned groups in question peering over your shoulder, and thus, they aren't effected. But this site doesn't exist solely in your living room. But all these groups of people do exist on this forum and regularly access Nexus for mods and are exposed to the hate that is behind them, and prevelent in the posts and description of said mods. Again, it is you who claims hatred. I have never personally seen a "bigoted" mod in this context where there was obvious hatred behind it. I'm sure some exist, especially from Western modders with their constant culture wars. But in what I've seen, there has been merely a difference in moral opinion. Hateful comments should be moderated, that's hardly an excuse. You are asserting that merely sharing a mod affirming the beliefs of most Muslims is hateful, but that blocking the expression of our beliefs is not. There is absolutely no way to view this situation except as bigotry against us.
  2. If you are feeling unwelcome on the basis that mods that exclude other groups of people aren't welcome on Nexus, you are operating on a bigoted, exclusionary basis. And I wasn't addressing what video game developers find morally agreeable. I'm addressing how those part of the recent confused campaign against pronouns and the previous campaign against pride flags have behaved here - an allotment of bigots using a variety of excuses for their behavior. Like hiding behind a religion and smearing it with their own hate while shaming those who actually actively practice it. How are they being excluded? What sexual minorities are peering over my shoulder as I play a video game in my own home? You are bigoted whenever you play a game that does not represent Muslims then. And you're being outright malicious now. Imagine claiming that those who faithfully attend their local Mosque are not practicing their faith, while those who don't and instead regurgitate the opinions of wealthy westerners are. Lack of representation is not an attack. If that was true, by even playing most games you are discriminating against me because of the lack of Islamic representation. And not just for us, you would have to believe almost all media is an assault on the existence of most kinds of people. And it absolutely is an attack on my faith. I cannot share the beliefs of 1 billion people, but wealthy westerners can share anything that suits their worldview? The sole distinction there is that you, the western elite, have protected values, while those of the developing world are banned.
  3. The problem being addressed isn't the faith of users, it's the bigotry using faith as an excuse - and thus diminishing the name of those of faith that don't publicly advocate bigotry. Those who ask for mods that exclude reference to the existence of other groups of people (like the removal of pride flags and pronouns) who aren't hate groups and claim that it's on religious grounds, without requesting the removal of things like murder or theft from games (when most religions actually reference these directly as being unnaceptable), they're clearly not operating on faith. They're operating on hate, bigotry, and discrimination - and are giving those who actually practice their faith consistently, and with tolerance and acceptance, a bad name. It's shameful. I want to believe you, but your owns words seem suspect as to your true feelings. The vast majority of Muslims do not believe as you do. We will not contradict the commands of God or his messenger. Just because a Muslim might align with your own moral beliefs does not make them consistent in the practices of their faith, for how can they be tolerant when they reject the word of Allah? Furthermore, why do westerners, the wealthiest of all in the world, believe they alone determine morality? Over a billion people follow the wise words of the Prophet, and most of us live in the poorest, most oppressed regions of the planet. I am blessed to live in the west, but its starting to seem like we Muslims are no longer welcome here. Most damning in your reply however is your assertion that all evil acts should be removed because we disagree on whether another act is evil. If you actually believed that was a good point, you would vocally call for the opposite. Why are children invincible in many games? Why are warcrimes often condemned in military games? Clearly, western developers already censor and remove acts they do not agree with. All that has changed this year is that now some acts are protected while others are still banned.
  4. As a longtime user of this site, I am quite concerned by the rampant anti-religious statements on this website over the last few weeks. A vast number of users are condemning "homophobic" mods, including but not limited to those removing pronouns and calling anything they dislike "Christian propaganda". As a Muslim, I am deeply concerned. Nexus Mods itself has had a long tradition of supporting Muslims and protecting us from political attacks, but I am afraid that this era is at an end. If I was to say anything that aligned with my faith, I would be called hateful. I believe nothing out of malice, and want the best for others, but the frankly reactionary behavior of supposedly progressive users scares me. How can I and my fellow Islamic users feel safe on this website going forward when bigotry against the religious is now acceptable behavior?
