So, I know the user is now banned, but I just thought I would chime in here to explain our side of the story, just incase anyone stopping by sees the ops last reply; over on the LOTD pages, we prefer users use the comments page to reply, since we get so many posts it is very difficult to keep track of posts made via the forums, the comments page keeps things much tidier. There was no animosity on our part and the deleting of the post (which was one that could be easily retyped at that) is what we do with all forum posts, we then requested the user post via the comments section. The user wasnt singled out, we asked if he could repost it only to be met by a rant about how we werent doing our jobs properly and should step away from the mod because his issue was clearly not his own (even though we couldnt replicate it) and we were taking out frustrations on him. The user was basically very rude, and from his post on another mod page it seemed like a trend. Nexus clearly seems to agree with this explanation as he is now gone. If anyone has any issues they would like to have us take a look at regarding the mod then they are of course welcome to come ask (via the comments section of course ;) ), thanks folks :)

In response to post #50692672. #50694632 is also a reply to the same post. You are complaining about something purely based on your own experience. In the UK most broadband is truly unlimited so we have no usage caps. It's also rather fast. Digital is the way of the future, your internet just hasn't caught up yet.

The Sunday Discussion - SmartBlueCat - Author of 'Inigo'
bigdeano89 replied to TheTokenGeek's topic in Site Updates
Wow, I knew you were Scottish, but I had no idea you lived THAT close to me! Im literally just outside Glasgow; small world haha! -
In response to post #45788870. #45798700 is also a reply to the same post. Can I just correct you op please? SUPER followers are in demand, like Inigo, Arissa and Sofia, ones with backstory, depth and custom voice packages. Like Ice says, "eyecandy" superfluous followers are most certainly not, they are a dime a dozen on Nexus frankly. The rest I agree wholeheartedly with Ice on. Sorry, but you put in the work you get rewarded, and eyecandy followers arent much work to make imho.

Sigh, the ignorant comments coming from some folks here is unbelieveable, to the point that I think you must either be children or trolls to have this mindset. Most of these people even admit to "not reading the whole article" but somehow their insight has to be more valuable than the damn article you are commenting on. Heres the gist, shrunk down into a smaller size so you can understand. Mod authors DO own their mods, Bethesda and Zenimax own the LICENSE to it (and thats ONLY if made with the creation kit. If they make them by any other means, Zenimax dont own anything). That license does NOT extend to users. That does NOT give anyone the right to take and upload the mods without permission from the authors, END.OF.STORY. No more of this BS "I own the game, I can do what I want", no, you cant, and you are childish or a troll if you believe thats true.

In response to post #39493565. Mods on Fallout and ES games arent to "modify" the game, they are to ENHANCE them, theres your difference. Mods for these games are allowed and encouraged compared to say, modding max level in an online fps game. Plus, pirating a game is just wrong, the mods wouldnt continue to be made without the game (and subsequent games) making money. The whole notion of "pirating the game is ok, they make enough money" is absurd and mind boggling to think that folks actually BELIEVE it.

File bug reporting system and image uploading updates
bigdeano89 replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
Its a good idea, but it may need some......refining. I have already witnessed in half a dozen mod pages, bug reports being filed which have nothing at all to do with the mod, but rather just idiots that either dont know how to install and mod properly, or people not telling the whole story due to doing something that isnt recommended (like updating when being told not to) for fear of not getting support, thus causing added work for the author, especially if they go looking for this non-existent bug. -

Must be so nice to have such and ignorant black and white view on the world gastovski, maybe when you are older you will see the world is NEVER so black and white, and that you need to be tolerant of that to even survive in most jobs. -

In response to post #24676599. #24676769 is also a reply to the same post. While I don't agree with the whole "death of modding" thought, many mods are still free and more are coming out everyday, I do agree we should all stop fighting and focus on constructively criticizing Bethesda and Valve for their whole approach to this mess. Like Gopher said, no one likes jump scares, and this was a massive one :)

Oh for goodness sake, I give up. Good luck finding another FREE modding site that isnt doing the exact same thing folks. I'm done trying to talk sense into you all.

In response to post #24674064. #24675694 is also a reply to the same post. I will also add that a few mods i have downloaded thus far now have a "why not donate?" with the button next to the download button in the popup now; that has honestly made me think about doing so a few times already and I have! It seems a good implementation and is what Steam should change theirs too imo.

Its not a profit system, its a bloody donation! Its not mandatory for authors to give him a cut, and even then its a tiny amount! End of the day, Dark0ne is exploring areas to keep this site going, completely free for us all. Nexus is a massive networked business based on ad revenue and donations, we ALWAYS pay nothing unless we decide to, but we cannot expect the site to keep chugging along without looking for other ways to keep it going.

Thats just it, and is what none of you seem to get; Dark0ne hasnt said he dislikes paid modding, he just doesnt like its implementation just now, so the whole "saying one thing, doing another" argument is completely moot. The point is the Nexus is and always will be free for us, end of story.

I will say again, he is NOT the only site to be on the service provider list, AFKMODs and MCM menu are on there too. People are just flocking here because Chesko took a hissy fit and tried to move the blame.

Maybe you should take a look at the service provider list then, because if theres a mod site you know of, its on there. So is the MCM authors among others. Its an optional donation, nothing more, now move on and stop shouting at the world.

In response to post #24673839. Thats called copyright. Bethesda technically owns ALL mods, they can take them all down if they really wanted to. The authors are making money off of Bethesdas IP, thats how the world works. They made the mod, sure, but Bethesda made the code and assets, as well as the kit authors use to make the mods.

In response to post #24659374. #24659484, #24659604 are all replies on the same post. Yeah, i'm seeing more and more that the passion is still there for most, and those that are making new versions stated they wouldnt have made any more without this chance, hell, Chesko and Isoku were only doing Steam as timed exclusives, they werent even permanent, but in the heat of it all, people didnt notice or even care I suppose. Shame, because it pushed 2 amazing mod author out of the modding scene, possibly for good. In the end, people wont flock to Nexus. Any good author or modder knows how crappy steams auto update installs are, a tool like NMM is needed to sort the mess a mod install leaves behind. Steams way is too invasive, and is prone to breaking your game basically.

In response to post #24658179. #24658299, #24658339, #24658454, #24658509 are all replies on the same post. This is true. The sane among us seem to be getting drowned out unfortunately. TBH I say we leave this post to fester; if there is no one to argue with the angry kids will get bored attacking "the man" and go bother someone else. This whole thing is only because Chesko and Isoku are no longer about to take the brunt, they need somewhere to vent.
