  1. so, as nobody that knows me will be shocked to see me say, I do things in bulk, so when I'm trying to set up my new profile for skyrim mods, first time actually TRYING to do so, after googling a few things and watching a youtube video, I'm uninstalling certain mods in bulk, so its got on average say, 10 uninstallations queued up, and then the issue happens that is why I'm making this possible feature request. so, when vortex is trying to manage multiple mods at once, it sometimes hangs itself up, and then has an "access denied" popup, stating IT ITSELF, is locking snapshot.json file ITSELF, and requesting either to cancel, or retry, siting that premissions are too tight, just because it cannot seem to recognize that it itself is locking the file while it works on the current mod it is working with. is there any way that you guys can somehow tweak its code so that it realizes this, and waits for itself to finish with the file its currently working on thats locking itself from working on the other file its apparently having a fit over? to me that seems like it would be an easy enough fix, but I'm a terrible programmer so do not quote me on knowing that one way or another.
  2. so, I find myself currently looking through my plugins and, to a much lesser extent, my mods view pages in vortex, and trying to decide what similar mods I can try and merge in zedit, however, the point of what I'm trying to find, is NOT light flagged mods and plugins, but I find it impossible to explicitly exclude light plugins...like, you can filter FOR light plugins, but not the opposite? not sure how this has not been a suggested feature yet, but I find this significantly lacking, and would very much enjoy the ability to invert a filtered sort view, not just specifically light, but inverted searches in general... like, you can filter for many useful views, but why can you not just simply invert those views? want to see mods that DO NOT have messages from loot? what NON light plugins? a simple inverted view tickbox would be gold for things like that.
  3. meh....still no freakin clue what that issue was about, but I began looking into some other isues, pc started being more and more eratic in behavior, started to bluescreen shortly there after, I finally got fed up and said to heck with it, time to nuke and restart, something I avoid doing at all costs becausea of how much time and effort has to go BACK into getting things working/setup as I use them each time I have to, but vortex works again...still no idea what the heck was going on, but yea, a nuke and reinstall fixed it...
  4. aaand I lied... as soon as I logged into the app, and fed it to use skyrim SE, THEN it comes back to complain about the masterlist and userlist...so now I'm wondering if its gonna do that if I install skyrim se and feed it to use that on my laptop...one way to find out...
  5. .......what the heck.... so I uninstalled the version of vortex that is the latest version that I had on both my desktops, and install the version that I just installed on my laptop.....and the sucker works...no more errors saying it cannot download the masterlst files.... for what thats worth...the only other thing I uninstalled on my editing pc, THATS STILL RUNNING on my laptop, worth noting, is spybot anti-beacon from safernetworking.org, STILL ON MY LAPTOP BUT NOT MY EDITING PC...and the version of vortex specifically thats working for me is version 1.1.0.5-1571213885 sooooo, I'm at a complete and utter loss now...but hey, found a working version?? just guess I wont update it for the time being lmao
  6. guess I'll just bulk remove crap and find out what it is in the process...not like it can hurt anything... if I somehow manage to discover the problem source, as always I'll update with my findings...god forbid anybody but me ever has to deal with a nightmare like this again. unfortunately this is all too common for me for some reason.
  7. Now, what's different on your laptop, than your PCs? Isa Vortex set PER-USER or SHARED? Are you the only account on your LapTop? Is it using the same WiFi? Firewall settings the same?? The problem is clearly on your end at this point in your PCs same as the default install, which I never messed with on my two desktops either, so its always per user, and update branch of stable, I only recently realized I could change things, and have never messed with them on my laptop given its NOT a gaming laptop, not even close...I am still shocked it could even play goat simulator... never messed with the firewall settings on it, given its not really a daily driver for me, I'm the only account on all 3 pcs, same network yes, lan, with my stuff on the lan so thats why I know its not network related, at least not so far as the network itself goes, and yea, I'm aware at this point its my side, but what the heck IS it thats the problem is what I cant seem to figure out, thats also partially why I said this is cruel irony haha. heres the thing, my editing pc, the one I also game on, is my highest performance system by far, the other desktop is an hp z800 workstation, that I do not use for gaming, so the software on each of the 3 pcs is vastly different based on the usage of them, so theres similar software I use on each, but outside of using 7zip, the same browsers, and a few other oddball similarities, the software on each is vastly different, and nothing I know of should be doing this kind of oddball behaviour, when it clearly seems to be, given my laptop just works....what the heck. no third party antivirus, all of them use windows defender, all of them use windows firewall, and the only thing on any of them even remotely close to AV software is spybot anti beacon........and thats turned ON on my laptop, AND OFF on my desktops...so that would theoretically have the OPPOSITE effect if that was the problem source....so I'm rather confused by this.
  8. well isn't this just a slap in the face... both my pcs/desktops that are capable of playing skyrim refuse to work with vortex, both throw the same issues....BUT MY FREAKIN LAPTOP WORKS FINE...what...the heck...that's just cruel irony. not sure if this is part of the issue or not, but I just freshly installed and older/NOT current version of vortex, and when it said it had updates, I did not install them, and my laptop has never had vortex on it...gonna try and install that same version on my desktop(s) and see if maybe thats related to why it runs on my laptop or not. will edit accordingly with what I find out.
  9. seeing as how I am utterly and completely unable to use vortex in the time it takes for somebody to reply and help me with this, would providing a packet capture by way of wireshark be of any use in getting me help faster than this? cause I'm sorry, I'm impatient, and I'm utterly unable to get this fixed without someones help in this, and it has been the better half of a week now, and I really grow tired of being unable to do anything with skyrim...so again, would a packet capture be of any use to anyone with helping get this resolved?? sorry if I'm coming off poorly, but I am quite frustrated with this, given I have no idea what is going wrong here, to be able to try and fix it myself.
  10. I know enough to get myself into trouble, but that, by no means, means I know exactly what I am doing, JUST FOR THE RECORD! I will never, not admit this truth! I know enough to get things working, usually, but by no means do I always know what I'm doing! That, however, is half the fun, most of the time, because thats how I learn best!
  11. as one last attempted test, I'm gonna make a redundant firewall rule specifically allowing git connectivity to github on the port it uses for tcp connectivity and see if that does anything or not, I'm betting not, but it cant hurt to try.
  12. I actually have github in a whitelisted alias on my network, and I do not block high ports, so many things use ports higher than 1024 whether or not they should or not remains to be seen, but I have all unpriveledged high ports allowed by default for this reason, also have github itself and its subdomains as a whitelist, so I know for a fact I'm not blocking them myself at least. what the heck...I'm now left wondering what on earth is going on here since my father is all but too lazy to even log into the home router, even when i need him to do something, he wont, out of sheer laziness...so I'm left seriously doubting this is my fathers doing... heck, when I had a windows vista pc, he literally never would update the thing (back when I was a teenager, and had parental controls on the thing, needless to say, <THAT machine was an utter abomination, even before you consider it was a single core with 1 gig of ram, and MS themselves recommend NO LESS than a dual core with 2 gigs of ram, THAT BEFORE the fact it NEVER GOT UPDATED AND WAS A DAY ONE ABOMINATION...yea...fun times) so again, I'm hard pressed to think my father actually has something to do with this problem.....at the same time however, I'm doubtful spectrome themselves are blocking that port..... *sighs* no idea at this point... but this is extremely frustrating. realized I should elaborate a bit...all whitelisted domains, given I use pfsense as my network firewall for MY portion of the home network (home lab, iscsi traffic, vmware vms, yea, my network is noisy, so I isolate it) are whitelisted on a domain name / IP basis, NOT by a port basis, so if its in my whitelist, its allowed to use any and all ports it wants to, so given github is whitelisted, its whitelisted for any and all ports it needs, which is part of my confusion with this issue, I just googled what port git needs, only to realize its not being blocked by port number at all, its supposedly not even being blocked... in any case, thank you for all your attempted help so far. much appreciated, succesful or not, being a one man army and one man support staff of my own endeavors, its hugely appreciated given I know what goes into trying to help on things like this. so thank you.
  13. for what its worth, I just opened vortex on my other desktop that I do NOT game on, and it is also having the same issues updating, this one never actually got setup completely since its more of a workstation than a gaming pc, but it is installed with 8 mods, and its having the same lib2git problems as this pc, so its not apparently specific to this installation as it would turn out >.> both pcs, have the "git operation failed. Details: -1; failed to send request: The operation timed out : libgit2 error"
