  1. remember grand theft auto? how you can "die" and then walk out of a hospital a few hours later? i thought this might be useful for a play through i had in mind (its....complicated) im wondering if theres a way to prevent the player from dying and needing to reload from the last save (seems like that feature is hard coded in there) i know i could run around with god mode on but thats cheating i could alter my health through the console, also cheating im looking for a way to "respawn" which in the context of this play through would not be cheating, the best example i can give is the movie surrogate, although the play through has nothing to do with the movie itself aside from the concept of moving to a new body once yours is destroyed. not sure if something like this could be done through a mod, im posting it here hoping that someone might know of a way to do it in game if at all possible i would want to respawn from doc Mitchell's if not a customizable place - that part i KNOW would have to come from a mod i know about the tai- toggle ai code, and my original plan was to use that right when im about to die, leave the area, heal, come back and turn the ai back on. thats not what im going for, that would be like the world stopping and waiting for you, and ive run into a host of glitches when entering a cell that has an npc with the ai off, sometimes they are in a wall, or sometimes they are ghosting- like moving around but not sing any animations, and you cant talk to them, not only that but in that state THE CONSOLE WONT ACKNOWLEDGE THEM ......and thats all sorts of awkward. something that zaps me out of the area into another cell when i hit 1 hp would work, like the coc code, but when you max out the difficulty, you never end up with one hp, usually if i get shot up, i either only get hit once, or my luck runs out and i walk into a wall of lead and get gunned down before i have time to react thank you warzones... any ideas? searching for variations of the word spawn on the nexus only brought up creature spawners and the like...
  2. its the closest thing fonv has to a middle finger my friend. dont think anyone has found a "fix" for it. this is why you must back up your saves! the closet thing to a fix would be to keep trying it usually works for me and when it doesn't -> go into your saves take the quicksave.fos file and put it on the desktop, then rename the "quicksave.fos.bak" file to "quicksave.fos" then boot the game up again and load it up, its sort of an internal backup system, but ive found that its not a "current" save, meaning that if you save, then do whatever, say go through a door, then f5 again-> then do what i just described it will be the save before you went through the door, so the fos.bak stays a save behind from what ive found
  3. i just downloaded "when worlds collide" and the merchant it adds has no barter option in the dialogue ive also had this happen with the book of earache mod i dont think its the mod itself because it has worked fine in the past...

  7. ive seen the port of alexscorpions smoke grenades on the nexus, ive also seen that there are no files. i think smoke grenades would be a cool edition if they could be implemented properly. im also going to try and work on them, i have to get the geck again first....and slowly....remember how to use it..... but anyway i cant do new models and such, so what im thinking is using the incendiary grenade as a base NOT A REPLACER. now i may be thinking of another game, but in fonv i believe the inc. grenade produces an orange cloud, i dont use them ingame...or grenades at all for that matter...much. but anyway what im planning is taking the damage down to zero or as low as i can, and here is where im thinking of how to replicate the effects of a smoke grenade, i would want to have a large blast/effective radius, (and i believe that i would somehow need to make a copy of the explosion model, then edit that copy and increase the size, and change the color, hell i would have multiple colors! which beats me as how to do...) but anyway im thinking stat effects here, no idea on how severe but reduced perception (bad visibility) and possibly reduced agility and guns skill, your bumbling around in a plume of smoke chances are your not going to be able to move around well or hit anything with your gun. im also thinking about cs grenades with a paralysis (spelling :() effect and poison maybe use the cloud from dead money? i dont know tell me what you guys think, or if someone wants to make it, it would be better than me using vanilla models (especially since i think the inc. grenade says incendiary on it lmao) i know smoke seems useless in a game where the enemies are ai and they dont physically "see" you so smoke wouldnt do much in game but thats why i would throw in the stat hits, also i play nv like a tactical shooter, and im not sure what the value of these smoke grenades would be but if you play the game hardcore, like limit the amount of ammo/guns/stuff you carry to below your carry weight then you could use a grenade to call for a vertibird from whatever enclave commander mod you may be using (to balance the free vertibird summoning)
  8. ive seen the wh40k drone companion but i was wondering if anyone else wanted or could make one similar to the ones in ghost recon. as a companion, using the ez companion system (since its already out there) i think it should have the spotter perk or something similar since you have a drone to scan the area. maybe a suppressed 9mm smg built into it and a missile launcher that shoots weak missiles - im thinking like the 25mm grenade but without the lob
  9. whenever i plant a mine it immediately starts beeping and explodes! it does it when im with companions and when im alone. i remember reading something about companions tripping mines, and to prevent it you had to add them to the player faction or something, well it seems as if im no longer part of my own "player faction" it does this for all the mines in the game. i thought maybe it was because the mine was stolen, or that i diffused it and took it, but it does it from the store bought ones as well. also it does this no matter if my explosive skill is 25 or 100 (used the advlevel command to get it there for testing) not as important but why i care-> i have warzones, i have the game on max difficulty with hardcore on, do i want a challenge? no, its because i play vegas like its a tactical shooter. anyway going through one of the warzone locations, i had my eye in my scope and someone comes up behind me and nails me twice with a super sledge and im dead. why my spotter did not shoot him or warn me is beyond me but i thought about it- if i had mined the perimiter behind me i wouldnt have died, or atleast would have taken a chunk of the attacker with me. so next time i go to snipe, i try and plant a mine, and it blows up in my face, i have no idea whats causing this.
  10. scroll lower for the "important part" morrowind was my first rpg, and it will always be special for that reason. the game was way beyond its time, the problem is technology advances so rapidly that the game was outdated by the time oblivion came around. i got oblivion 2 years late b/c my machine couldnt handle it (same thing with f03 when it came out). well i recently found out that my morrowind disc got fried, despite the absence of scratches. and i really. really. wanted to play it. well i downloaded it through steam only to be semi dissapointed with what i got. its not how i remember it, technically, graphically, and stability wise. technically, it falls way short, when i played it the first time, the scripting was groundbreaking, but now, coming from fonv and skyrim the game falls short. graphically as well, i dont remember the graphics being that bad, but again at the time they werent, and im slowly attempting to remedy that with mods. and as far as stability goes, its the one upside ive found in this endeavor, theres NO lag because my current machine is more than decent, and when the game was released my machine could have out preformed the "gaming" machines at that time. and as i play it, im finding that i never actually went through with the story, i riddled the game with all sorts of mods and played my own way. one of the main things i had to give up when i started oblivion were some of the mods, my favorite being: ravenloft. remember it? imnsho THE best housing mod in morrowind, it didnt have a flashy exterior to compete with the mansions and castles either. does anyone know of a "ravenloft for oblivion"?

  15. to my knowledge nothing exists already, its been two months but i was on vacation/had to stay in hotel room and i went through EVERY page of the weapons category, and i didnt see anything old timey, in that sense. i know there was a musket for fo3 but it was white from what i remember, maybe based off an anime. this is not to say that there arent any muzzle loaders (<- actually search for that term, forgot to look) withing a weapon pack. nope just looked for it and theres none, anyway ive never thought of going that far back, i know i went on a run trying to get a bunch of wwII stuff and Nazi uniforms for a playthrough and that wasnt too hard to set up.
  16. try Cesar's 5th legion cohort -> http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/42872 despite the name, you can be part of an ncr (or legion) assault on the legion (or the ncr) in a new world space. essentially like three quest stages, but theres a side quest (medicine) and if your on a new character it will be difficult, but from the begining battle you can get all sorts of ncr armor and service rifles
  17. ok i have two ideas, one im working myself, but i would like for someone else to try as well, and the second one involves more geck ability 1. ever see ads for a game called "the heist"? its a game where you rob banks...and.....oh my god what are we teaching kids these days??????? anyways i never bought it because its a game where you rob banks, then what? ill stick to fonv. but it would be cool to have a large, or huge bank someplace to rob (spoiler!!!!!!!!!!! SKIP THE LINE NOW........................just like in dead money) so that being said the version im working on is ugly, but fits the bill (no pun intended) i have a building, with a counter, and a bunch of safes behind the counter with plans to add tellers, so you go in cause havoc, take it all and leave-this is where my ability runs out and im asking for someone else to do it-and also because for the short time you are there, some atmosphere would be nice (imo fo3 had some better buildings for this, like the tenpenny tower, i remember i had a mod that made that place look astounding) it would be nice if you could actually interact with the tellers, im sure i could figure out how to do dialog, but skill checks not so much-like if you tell them your robbing them the guards gun you down-or with a skill check or the terrifying presence perk all the npcs go into the flee mode (like how companions crouch and run away) that would get kind of stale, so maybe there would be back hallways to sneak through and such to get to the safes, im not sure-also some high value items like i mention below would be welcome ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2. a USEABLE bank, but more than a bank. i found it odd that the economy of the game is like it is....2 large factions at each others throats, one controls hoover dam. war costs money, LOTS OF IT. so where are the factions getting it.......it is possible to say they raided prewar armories to get their stuff, but thats boring! how about the casinos, theyre making money-from ingame descriptions lots of it. if youve ever robbed a casino (INGAME cause that sounds bad otherwise) then youll find they dont have the $, but patrons are buying booze,sex, and proof that the casino always wins. in both of these cases it seems like the entities would store the money somewhere right? lets think about that, storing money. idk how much the ncr vs. legion conflict would cost but in modern times war costs hundreds of millions. lets scale that back, say several million? imagine only a million bottle caps (lmao he said "only") how much space, and how long it would take to count that i once read that only 10% of american money exists in paper, the rest is in money markets, stocks, bonds whatever so how would that look in fonv? maybe in this bank/trade center there would be some really beefy guards and security, and the crew that robbed the bank in my first idea would never be stupid enough to rob this bank (orrrrr maybe they would...warrants a separate save.) this one i didnt want to base off "the heist" game this would be more of store. but they wouldnt sell guns, only things of extreme value. so like bank notes worth thousands, then hundred thousands, and then millions of caps. other items for thought would be gold bars, not the dead money ones though (so people who dont have dead money could use this) and maybe war bonds or expensive rocks like diamonds and gems. so the tellers/merchants in the bank would need an insane amount of caps (so they can buy back the bonds and stuff, i mean like several million caps per teller thus "cashing in" bank notes...that may or may not have been stolen from the bank from my first idea) so this would be like wall street sort of...i guess..... always found it odd that you can progress through the game with no money (ive done it, anytime i got caps i put them in the dumpster in goodsprings, it was not easy, and i could not imagine doing it on hardcore mode) and still end up with luxury suites at the 38 and tops well as i wrote this the two mods tied into each other more then i had originally thought, thanks for reading, please comment :) it kind of bites to get like over a hundred page views and no comments, not even an "oh this would be cool" kinda makes me feel stupid for asking haha
  18. i asked for some ipsc stuff a while back and no one wanted to do it, so maybe large caliber weapons would be more appealing? im talking about......i dont know what im talking about......a lot of the images are in sonerest and the freeside loft mods as wall posters. i did a google search one day after noticing that one of the pictures had the letters "lms" on it and i eventually found more of the same.   19. a while ago i put up a request for this mod, and judging from the amount of views it has and the lack of replies - either no one is interested or they cant do it. original post: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/699268-ipsc-stuff/ so now im trying to do it. i have some experience in the geck, and the kits that came before it, oblivion, morrowind- i was real good in that kit. aside from simple tweaks (mostly gun stats, i was able to convert a replacer into a standalone mod though) i dont really know what im doing. in the link i said what i wanted, but here is what i plan to do: a shop with several vendors expensive race guns-new models and mods new clothing/head wear an obstacle course with targets-few thoughts on this -maybe an indoor and outdoor? -the legion dummy targets would work-so would glass bottles-but it would be nice to get experience from the course, so im thinking an extremly low health (like 2 hits from a 10 mm pistol to kill) npc that will not attack you-and all the other targets(npcS) would not come to his aid- and also i want to reset the course with a button/switch for multiple playthroughs. a container and a misc item model of it thats only for display. this requires permissions, there is a pistol case on the nexus as a modders resource, there is a drop-able bag of infinite holding(see where im going with this) im going to change the looks of the holding bag to the pistol case. at the moment this is all i can think of, so why am i posting this here? if you would like to make the mod then by all means go for it, would make it much easier for me :) but i doubt thats going to happen, so i need help. if you can give me any advice or tell me how to do this i would appreciate it, but more than that im coming here because all modders were new at one point, can you point me to some geck tutorials that would be relevant to what im doing? if anyone wishes to make the models for me i would appreciate that, but im new here as well so if you could recommend any tutorials for new models, i have blender nifskope and gimp, but idk what to do with them-and im just learning about how meshes and textures are connected and how things are mapped and im lost. also if you have any ideas,post them as well.

  22. id love to see this, i like race pistols and ipsc, aztek had a mod that added them but the mod was removed supposedly for using some material from the battlefield series, but since my sources are on the internet, theres no telling the reliability of them, and i do not wish to defame anyone. the same sources say that the mod is hosted on another site, but is currently being updated. i have the mod, i got it when it was on the nexus, and holy crap theres a lot of guns, the changelog is also on the new host site, and the new versions contain waaaaaaaaaaaay more guns

  24. you might not ever see this, youve had 3 posts spread over like 6 months and this was way back in the requests. but anyways your looking for the cavalry revolver, i had the mod for a while. but i think its been taken down from the nexus, i found it while looking for a navy revolver by searching for "revolver" and doing so now does not turn up the mod you are talking about
  25. well since i have cs5...... and also im not sure what .nif 's are, its what the geck uses in the "model" section, this is why im hoping someone else will weigh in on this conversation. since i did not need to define the world model or first person model when i was making my personal mod- it almost seems like the .nif file is a mashup of the 1st/3rd/world .dds files. i dont know anything about modeling or textures, the only expeirience i have with them is in solidworks, which has its own file type..and isnt really geared toward video game objects...
