  1. I've adjusted plenty of settings and tried several LOD tools but none of them have worked, mostly because they're designed to fix the distance at which things increase in quality, whereas I'm having issues with entire towns being literally invisible until I'm close to them. Resetting the .ini files to their defaults and changing any of the settings seems to do nothing.
  2. I've set every view distance setting in the launcher to max yet I'm still noticing terrible pop-in with everything over ~100 metres. In large interior cells everything over a certain distance doesn't load at all meaning that it appears as though I'm following/walking away from a white void when in tunnels etc.
  3. Try unchecking all of your mods and loading the save. If the issues goes away then start checking mods again ~5 at a time until the issue returns, then find the exact file that's causing it.
  4. Other than nostalgic memories of previous games why is the BoS so popular among New Vegas players? They wish for everyone but themselves to live like tribals. Their fear of others with technology isn't exclusive to weapons on the scale of ARCHIMEDES or nuclear weapons but extends to pretty much anything powered by electricity. Instead of chasing down nutjobs like Elijah or Ulysses they'll gladly devote themselves to storming Farmer Joe's ranch to grab his old laser pistol at gunpoint, taking the pip-boy some caravan is using to navigate, and so on. Despite being nearly wiped out almost all of their endings involve them again throwing themselves at a power plant they almost died defending, doing nothing with it, then marching around the wasteland demanding anyone they come across hand over any technology they own or face death. Their xenophobia is incredibly severe- as well as believing anyone but them is too dumb to be trusted with anything more advanced than a stick (except the player) they also have a deeper hatred of ghouls and mutants, to the point that they often shoot them on sight. Bringing Lily into the bunker causes many members to offer to "put her down". Such an attitude to outsiders has effectively doomed them. Nobody that is not of some relation to an existing member can join without fulfilling some near-impossible task (saving the entire group isn't enough for the player to join, you also have to go fight an army of super mutants) and younger members are granted the choice to leave. The brotherhood will never expand due to their ferocious loyalty to the codex, effectively dooming them to inevitably run out of bodies to fill the metal suits they love so much. Not only is their codex dooming them to either die out or become a glorified raider gang and die out later, they're also too brainwashed to ever change it. McNamara is one of their most liberal members yet will shrug off the fact that the Helios battle was for next to nothing, become angry at the suggestion that helping outsiders might make their presence tolerated, happily send out patrols to shake down outsiders as soon as the battle is over, and accepts that dying out is inevitable because he'll at least have stayed true to the outdated and now impossible goals set by the codex. To top this off, a group of paladins will happily murder you and a fellow member for suggesting such a thing, and another group will happily later slaughter a group of doctors because they might know something they shouldn't. All of this under McNamara's leadership with the alternative, Hardin, being even worse- his first act as leader is to demand you go shoot up the Van Graffs, not for any moral reasons but to scare the hell out of anyone with tech and show that the BoS mean business. So... why are these guys seen as pretty much everyone's favorite faction?
  5. Considering how long it went completely untouched it's likely it was just abandoned and deleted.
  6. After breaking the Khan-Legion alliance I was approached by an NPC that informed me that Papa Khan has something important to discuss and I should return to Red Rock immediately. I was confused by this as he's never appeared in previous playthroughs. Papa Khan has no new dialogue yet the NPC appears pretty much daily to demand I go talk to him. I've spent a short while looking for what is meant to happen but have found nothing. Nothing in the wiki seems to suggest this is in the game at all, but it has vanilla voice acting. Anyone know what this is related to?
  7. Ran into the lag problem on a new save but I believe I've fixed it for good. For whatever reason "Freeside Revision"/revised.esp was the cause.
  8. I believed I've tracked down the cause of the performance issues. Turns out the CaliberX patches were the cause of similar issues for several people, but it was supposedly fixed in the last update. Going to assume it was responsible for my problems as my melee build was the only one out of my last three to not suffer this problem. Moving to the new version sadly hasn't improved my current playthrough, but I'm just going to hope for the best and start over.
  9. Looked through the troubleshooting guide and changed the FPS clamp setting and dismissed my companion, but the performance issues are still there. Haven't made any major changes to my system in the last few months.
  10. The game has suddenly started to break in several ways, and I have no idea what is causing them. The first sign things were going wrong was when the FPS dropped to what I assume is ~20, and the game began to stutter constantly. I've ran the game just fine for years and I was already using the stutter remover and a number of .ini tweaks, none of which I've touched in several months. Loading an earlier save fixed it, but the problem quickly returned when I played further, making sure to do completely different quests etc. I spent a while digging through solutions that worked for other people but none of them fixed it. So, I started a new game and it ran fine... until I got too far in the playthrough (around level 18) and the same problem arose. I tried fixing it again but nothing worked so I decided to just give up and accept it, seeing as it wasn't completely unplayable. Unfortunately several other issues arose soon after: -Halfway through a shootout with some Legion assassins my AP refused to regenerate at all. This continued for the few minutes I tried to press onwards but was fixed by loading a save before the issue arose. -Cases where NPCs are supposed to initiate dialogue (e.g the guard at Nellis AFB) rarely work, so I have to teleport the NPC in question to myself and manually talk to them. -Many NPCs are in unusual places and I've encountered NPCs that are in the files but not meant to be in the game, e.g Doctor Barrows from FO3 was in Freeside. -Sometimes NPCs will randomly declare me an enemy- I walked into the McCarren terminal building and every NCR soldier started shooting at me after a minute or so. Twice. -Having completed the Debt Collector quest Lady Jane was still in Freeside for whatever reason, stood in front of the meat vendor. I was unable to initiate dialogue but trying to talk to her would zoom in the camera, remove 200 caps and hire Orris (part of the quest I was currently doing). Orris was seemingly as confused as I was, seeing as he'd immediately run over to her, stare at her and repeat this every time I teleported him away. Loaded an earlier save and hired him the correct way and he again decided to go and stare at her. He does this every time. -The low FPS/lag never went away. If any of you know what's causing any of these things I'd greatly appreciate some help.
  11. I was playing New Vegas when my fps of ~45 suddenly dropped to >10 and never improved. Loading back allowed me to play normally for a while, but after 10-15 minutes it would kick in again. I had literally no way to progress. I removed numerous mods but the problem remained. I spent an hour or so looking for a fix but nothing worked. I was somewhat annoyed at this point but I figured the problem was limited to that set of saves and threw 23 levels down the drain as I started a new game. Sure enough, as I went through New Vegas Bounties II at level 27 the exact same thing happened and the game again became unplayable. I still can't find a fix and I sure as hell aren't planning on abandoning another playthrough. If this is indeed possible to fix then I'd greatly appreciate some help.
