  1. Thanks for the reply Cipscis, I expected as much but it's still a little disappointing = / Hopefully the perk modding will distract me from it lol.
  2. Mods for bethesda games are a must since most of the time they ship half broken and poorly thought out or unfinished.
  3. It will be better when we start getting perk overhauls, honestly perks can be better than stats but I still kind of agree with you. Removing stats from the game is just very anti-rpg, we could have been using a simple health/magic/stamina system for all rpgs since the old days, but we haven't, and I think there's a good reason for that. It may not have been necessary from the start at all, and it's pretty damn transparent in many games but it's one of the things that encompasses the essence of an rpg as well. We lost acrobatics and athletics, speed and agility would have made very nice replacement stats for those functions while not inherently leveling you up from use. It's definitely not the choice I would have made for the game anyway. They tried too hard to balance things in this iteration and failed at it anyway, from the start it has been up to the player whether or not to break the game and go god mode or not, and that's always been part of the fun. I know some people who play through once legit and then after that just bug/exploit/trololo all over the place for fun on their second play through. No harm in that.
  4. Oh gawd no... They couldn't possibly screw up so bad as to hard code the number of perks... could they? Now that I think about it they are all graphically represented in the ui, if there's no editor for that in the CS it's going to be such a pain anyway.
  5. Acrobat was my favorite play style in oblvion and even morrowind, but the skill got axed. The skill very easily could have evolved into a dodging ability instead. Holding my breath for mods that resurrect this ability = / Also the AI has barely evolved, and jumping is still forbidden to everyone but the player character. Considering acrobatics/athletics were removed not only because they deemed them excessive but because of their exploit potential, I find it a little silly that I'm still required not to jump on things even with our tiny hop to keep from breaking the game in combat. -_- Short version: Lack of ability to dodge/no more acrobat class is my complaint.
  6. Anyone know if the skills system is hard coded like the game's predecessors? Will we be able to add new skills and dictate what actions level them up or are we stuck waiting til a script extender comes up to make a half arsed attempt at it? I'm sure that perk mods will make things more livable even if the skills themselves are finite again at least...
  7. Buuuut.... It's a fantasy world.... /trollface In all seriousness though, it's not unthinkable for there to be spells or enchantments for hygiene. They never really discuss whether or not mages use spells for convenience like this.
  8. I love the scenery and the "feel" of the game as much as you do probably, but It's completely understandable that people get mad at some of the shoddy/poorly executed design when it comes to the bread and butter mechanics/playability of the game. Some things are so blatantly and obviously neglected, you can tell it's like no one plays or tests the version of the game that is ready to ship. The modding community took what... 3 days after release to figure out why there were visual artifacts on many of the textures in game? Can you really say it's respectable to ship a game like this with blocky noses for instance? You pay your graphic artists and they do excellent work and then you compress the files poorly and tarnish it? No one noticed? I'm sure they did... The game is a success imo, it's just a shame that gaming companies like bethesda seem to have an attitude like "oh we'll fix it later" or "that's what modders are for". I understand bugs, I'm still enjoying the hell out of the game. I just don't think there should be blatantly ignored and overlooked obvious issues within 2 hours of playing the game, without even doing anything weird or asking for it on your own. There's not much excuse for that and a little indignation about it from the community is justifiable at times. It's not just Skyrim, this has become the norm for most games since companies can now just patch it later assuming everyone has an internet connection. It's a wonder we had playable games back before online updates right?
  9. They did an incredible job of "matching" everything this time. The game has a visual theme and they stuck to it quite well, whereas in Oblivion even much of the vanilla content looked somewhat out of place. The challenge I see with this is that many of the anime-esque style mods that were popular in Oblivion are going to look even more out of place in Skyrim. I'm wondering how many modders will do well at matching the theme of the game... Also, Imperial, Breton, and especially Nord women can be made to look rather good considering how hard that was in the past two elder scroll iterations without heavily modding the game.
  10. I actually had a pretty hard time fighting the first dragon as a dual axe wielder, was a lot of fun. Problem is they just don't scale with you as you level, and the first dragon you fight probably has the best AI out of the lot, they steadily get dumber/quirkier from there. Still, it is insanely cool to have these fights in an elder scrolls game, and it would be amazing to have other massive scripted enemies as well.
