  1. Sometimes when viewing a mod page, we don't have the offsetHeight loaded (0) and it causes a divide by 0, which JS interprets as Infinity. Then, the for loop occurs and never breaks out of it. Trust me; I'm a programmer. If this happens we can silently fail and bypass the loop (check for 0, Infinity or isNaN()), or defer the code with 'requestAnimationFrame' so it can wait for sizes of things to load.
  2. All, I have a RTX 2070, and I've noticed the game plummet to below 30fps when I'm in front of a lot of candles or other sources of light, running S:SE with an ENB. I researched this, and while there are mods to reduce or eliminate 'candle lag', nothing was working. Furthermore, it only seemed to affect me if I have the ENB enabled. Disabling it causes framerate to go way back to normal. And it only affects me when I'm staring at the flames. Looking away from them, even if I'm in the presence of them, brings FPS to normal. Also, if they are in a certain radius from me. Get far enough away and FPS returns. I then saw a post regarding particle limits and performance. There is an ini setting called iMaxDesired, mine was 750 and I set it to 50, just to be a tad extreme. That completely eliminated the slowdown with particles, but at the expense of pretty ugly candle light flickering in the scene. [Particles] iMaxDesired=50 I read further this has to do with graphics bottlenecking in older graphics cards... I'd imagine like a GTX 460 or GTX 560? The thing is, I have a freaking RTX 2070, and there's no way in hell it's bottlenecking 8GBs of GDDR6 memory. There's no way it's outdone by 30 candles. Also, sometimes it can be 30 candles and see no dip in FPS or a single candle and get the FPS dip... It's random and varies scene to scene. I'm in Volunruud crypt, and the candles there dropped me below 30 FPS. So whatever it is is, it *HAS* to be a bug in ENB Series, or in a shader being used by it. An RTX 2070 is more than enough for a decade old game with honestly pretty rudimentary 3D scenes compared to modern games like MW5 and Cyberpunk 2077 which runs 60-70fps on my rig at ultra. These games also pump out 3 or more times the scene geometry than Skyrim ever could!! It makes no sense to me. Anyways, I hope this finding helps others who struggle with candle sources in their ENBs, even though they already have a more than capable GPU. I hope word gets around and someone gets them to fix this bug in ENB. It has something to do with it. Edit: I'm not sure if tyhis should be moved to the other forum? I had no idea S:SE and Skyrim were split here. Though untested, this bug may persist in the base game too. Certainly, everything in this post works for vanilla Skyrim too.
  3. This may have been asked numerous times before. but I haven't found an answer yet. So, I love playing this game with a gamepad (yes I love gamepads so what?) and I know you can't easily enter the console window or quicksave/quickload the game. It is my belief there has got to be a mod that turns at least those keyboard keys on. I do realize this may not be done in the normal scripting language for FO3, but I hope it's somehow possible with FOSE. I also wonder if it has been done before and if anyone can point me in the right direction. I did find one "mod". It was an xpadder profile for playing FO3 with keyboard and mouse but I have no idea how effective it is, and it's kind of a work-around and not a mod. The "mod" relies on xpadder's control scheme to map keyboard to the controller which could be odd, but I haven't really tested this. It is my belief that since the game engine can natively support both modes that this can be possible without xpadder (or other joy2key like software). So... is this possible or am I only dreaming?
  4. Guys, I'm playing as a mage and I am having the worst time trying to defeat other mages. They are simply impossible and here's my reasons as to why: 1. I get 'blinded' by enemy spell effects in the camera. I can't see s*** when hit with fire or electricity. The enemy does not get blinded ever. To go along with this, realistic lighting mods, like dark caves only serve to impede me; they see just fine in pitch black. 2. They have perfect aim. Maybe you can dodge their icicles and fireballs at moderate range but their spark/flames attack cannot be dodged (you have to run out of their range). Plus electricity only aims in draining my magika. Yes there are alteration and restoration perks and an ancient stone that will aid in deflecting or absorbing magika, but not when you are at an early level. All I'm trying to fight are early level mages. Also, my mage isn't a alteration mage, because I can't learn everything. 3. They seem to have an infinite supply of magika (no, they really don't, but they 'seem' to). What they do have is seemingly fast regeneration, though. A mage used all his magika on me, then drew his dagger, attacked me once with the dagger, ran away and was seemingly completely renewed with magika. How the hell he managed that is beyond me. They can spell forever and heal forever too. Further, some mages wear light armor, and do not have enchantments on them that bolster spell casting or regeneration in any way. Why is it that even when the player is decked out in magika regenerating apparel they are still not toe to toe with some enemy mages? Last I checked racial bonuses alone get you only so far... 4. They'll also throw up the ward. When I do a ward it drains my magika FAST and I cannot have one up for long, but I saw an enemy mage throw up a ward perpetually. And whenever I threw a fireball, they'll even do a split-second block of my spell with their ward, dealing zero damage to them, as they electrify me and run around really fast. Inhumanly possible, I say. 5. My spells are hard to aim. It doesn't help that a fireball also like point 1, fills my screen so I can barely see where to place it. The icicle is better to aim, though. 6. The enemy also seems to be a master of multiple fields of study. It's hard enough focusing on two schools of magic, but they seem to not worry when it comes to casting cross-school spells, like conjuring an atronach then switching to restoration wards and destruction magic. All these irksome things make it so hard to play as a mage. It feels good playing as a mage in Skyrim, don't get me wrong, it's just annoying when these little things creep up on you. Especially when you vs. another enemy mage. This is not the first time I've played a mage they do get easier later on, but early on they are utter trash and the enemy mages don't refelct that they are either easy (bandit mages) or near impossible. And usually it's whether or not they use a ward that determines how hard they are. Is there a mod that severely weakens enemy mages so they too feel what it's like to run out of magika? To not hold up a ward forever or to stop casting wards at the last split second? And I guess I'll stop using those real lighting mods since true darkness only aims to affect you and not help you escape enemies in the dead of night. The example I'm basing all this on is my current fight with Kornalus (the magic spider guy). A guy who if I were a fighter type would fall in a second or two. Especially if I were my assassin, and die in a single hit from behind.
  5. Thanks, that did it! But it is a beta, so I'll have to be careful and see what it affects.
  6. I have found the solution. This is completely caused by the unofficial skyrim patch. All my issues. Damn, it was such a good mod too! (I hope the issues it fixed were implemented by Bethesda...)
  7. Go into steam, and go to the game library. Find skyrim, right click it and select "properties". Then find "verify steam cache" and click it. Steam will download the latest skyrim 1.6 and any missing files that could cause data files to be grayed out. If that doesn't work, check to see if there are esp's inside the data folder. If there are, then there's some kind of ini issue. In that cause delete the ini's in your Skyrim documents folder and rerun the game. If there aren't simply redownload the mods you had and reactivate them. Last option is to completely remove Skyrim from your computer, well, you could keep the large .bsa files. After that re-verify the steam cache and it'll download new proper files. You will lose all the mods in the data folders. Since NMM puts mods in a separate directory (C:/Games/Nexus Mod Manager/Skyrim), just reactivate them and you're good to go.
  8. Could be skyboost. It doesn't work for versions 1.5 and up. Only 1.4 for the latest skyboost.
  9. Open steam, view the game library. Right click on Skyrim, and choose "properties". Then find "verify steam cache", click that button and it will download the latest version of Skyrim, plus any missing files. And please type in better English, it was kinda hard understanding your problem. ;)
  10. Sometimes when I talk to NPC's, their dialogue is completely silent and their mouths are not moving. I've seen this in NPC's randomly with random choices. For example Madanach would silently look at you for 32 seconds in place of dialogue when you choose one of his dialogue options. Pressing the skip button will wade through his silent speech. But its not him, the list would go on and on, but I haven't written down who, I've had anyone from a random NPC to Delphine. Its only random lines with random people. I googled this issue but found no luck. I am playing as a custom race, the Ashen. Could it be a racial issue? I have various other mods running but they are all graphical. I do have the unofficial skyrim patch running, this here could also be a reason. On another note, Amren (regarding Amren's missing sword) would never initiate dialogue. He'll argue with his wife, but then the option for choosing to find the sword won't turn up. He'll just have the standard options. Playing other characters I have been able to do it. I strongly think this is racial as well (for no luck with Ashen mod). Next time I see silent dialogue I'll try to somehow save before the dialogue, if I'm lucky on a save, and then deactivate mods and see what the culprit is. The silent dialogue is not purely random for its easily reproducible after loading saves or reactivating that dialogue chain (but sometimes dialogue chains disappear, etc).
  11. Guys guys, My issue has been fixed it had nothing to do with OBGE, it was only briefly mentioned! I could have taken that out and your replies would have been different (It was used only as a simile, after all, because OBGE needs OBSE to run, as well as many, many other things (all turned off)). In fairness OBGE v2, can't really be "turned off"... However, it only it works when you get into the game I'm fairly certain it doesn't affect the title screen in any way. I had no mods running (besides BT mod). Stock Oblivion. OBSE on = issues, OBSE off = not. The issue being: No menu choices were found with OBSE on. The only thing I failed to do was report two things, OBSE version, which is 0.0020, and if anything changed along with the graphics cards: Nothing did. While I was indeed helped, it was only on a whim. Unknownymous's last suggestion did it; not the stuff related to OBGE, it was also his "last resort". That is if OBGE or OBSE changes the stock oblivion.ini in any way, which I kinda doubt, but if it did then that'd be beyond my knowledge and thus why I'd ask. Plus, I never knew oblivion would have rewritten a .ini. Usually I'm pretty good at solving my own mysteries. Anyways thanks for the fast and informative replies!
  12. Thanks, that did it! I had oblivion recreate the .ini file, I think there was something regarding the graphics card in there, and for whatever reason it fixed itself when doing so. Thanks for the suggestion!
  13. My first post here, heh. Guys, do any of you have an Nvidia GeForce 560 Ti graphics card? With latest drivers, and no mods running, Oblivion won't "work" when running with OBSE. When I say won't "work" I mean the game will play, but the loading bar won't appear (the one that shows when you quickly want to skip the developer intro). Then when the music starts and fades the "Oblivion" title in, it will play the animation of the world map (as it's suppose to do) but not show the menu choices. Not even a mouse cursor will be present. I can't get farther than this, sadly. However, if I turn OBSE off, it works quite well, very well indeed. But then that makes many - very important - mods not work, like OBGE. This is a new card BTW. Before, everything was working just fine with an ATi Radeon HD 4870. I do have BT mod installed, but that is regardless of OBSE. Again, without OBSE its all peachy, (even with BT mod). (I could post a screen, but it's not that complicated to picture) Should I try an earlier version of OBSE?
