Actually, I found master level easy as well... especially as a melee heavy type character. My second playthrough, I created a mage type just to see if the game is more difficult since I'm more "squishy" without heavy armor and massive melee damage capabilities. To my disappointment, it was only sort of challenging around the earlier levels. At higher levels, playing as a mage type is a bit more challenging because you do less damage, but it's not hard. Once you get impact perk, along with enchanting two effects, it's even easier. I actually did not get any real challenges until I installed Deadly Dragons and the PISE mods. Deadly Dragons make dragons pretty close to how fearsome and powerful the TES legends said they were; plus there's an option to make dragons resistant to impact and stuns.

Why people shouldn't complain about all of the bugs.
redhorizon09 replied to Exquisit's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I'm assuming that you're ignorant of PS3 issues to where the game was practically unplayable. I play on the PC, but my brother (who isn't into PC gaming) plays on the PS3 and I saw how his version of Skyrim was unplayable by running at maybe 1-5 fps because of bugs. What's more? It's not fun when there were (and probably still are) many quests that couldn't be completed because of bugs. -
It would be nice to expand on the Thalmor and actually give players the option of joining them. I didn't care much for the Stormcloaks or the Imperials. The Stormcloaks' uprising began with Ulfric misusing the Voice, and I hate the Imperials for trying to execute me at the beginning without any logical reasoning. Furthermore, the Imperials also seem like lapdogs to the Thalmor as well and I can't stand that. Ulfric seems to only care about Nords and seems prejudice against other races. I also think it'd be a nice twist if Bethesda actually made the Dark Brotherhood's main quest-line have an impact (whether with or against the Thalmor) on the Empire's alliance with the Thalmor. I agree completely. Next to my major disappointment with how fail Alduin was as a main villain, Skyrim's companions system is epic fail. Companions in Skyrim are bland and boring. Oblivion's companion mods (despite how popular many were) did not manage to teach Bethesda a thing about what the TES community want in companions; that or Bethesda flat out ignored what TES fans want in companions. At least Fallout New Vegas actually did something right by making the player's companions have personality, backstory, and their own quest-lines. Heck, even the ending to the main quest-line involved the player's companions. I loved how a player's choice of words and choice of path (bad or good) can literally affect the player's companions in Fallout New Vegas. For example, Cass will outright leave the player if the player continues along the evil path; she'll also become hostile if the player speaks negatively about her parents. It bothered me that in Skyrim, your companions are almost like mindless drones. Lydia would even help you without any feelings of remorse or objections in attacking Whiterun guards and the Jarl. I hope Bethesda will seriously consider overhauling companions in the future if they're aiming at making Skyrim DLC improve the game.

Hmm, I wasn't aware that the Khajiits have unique shouts for I have yet to create a dovahkiin of that race. Thanks for pointing this out though. My next character will be a Khajiit then. However, this just reminded me of another thing I forgot to mention about character voices. Why couldn't Bethesda just make the player character completely unique in the voice section by giving the player character his/her own set of voice(s). Since Oblivion, I hated that my character sounded just like every other Nord, Imperial, Elf, Orc, Breton, Khajiit, or Argonian. Makes my character seem too generic. If the voices should be English, then how will the English accent fit in with the races like Argonians, Nords, Orcs, Redguards, and Khajiits? I can see the High Elves (and maybe the Bretons to a certain degree) having the English accent, but not the majority of other races... especially the Orcs and Redguards. Unless certain characters grew up in a particular region, then yes I can see why their accents would be different from the typical locals of the regions.
-
Something that should have been added to "the bad" is that the dovahkiin only has two sets of voices; one for each gender. No matter what race I chose, my dovahkiin sounds the same, and this is lame. I would have loved to hear how the dragon shouts would have sounded with different voices. Before I was aware of this limit, I created a high elf dovahkiin just to hear how Fus Ro Dah would sound in the "proud" and haughty high elf voice. Much to my disappointment, I knew my high elf was going to sound the same as my nord upon hearing his battle grunts. I hope Bethesda will add in the other voices for the dovahkiin (along with dragon shout voices as well) when they release their large dlc contents that aims at "improving" the game.

Wow, looking good. I can't wait to see what the results are for the finished product.

This was probably a mistake, not to offend you. You should probably wait to put money into a computer once you know what the game will take. The thing is PC gaming is that 1,000 into a computer no probably isn't going to be as good as 1,000 into a computer before release x.x Just keep it in mind for any further purchases. Yea well my old PC was on its last legs anyway; it's over 10 years old so I needed a new rig regardless. I actually did do researching before having my new PC built because I tend to do that anyway before making a big purchase in general. I read reviews and such for certain video cards, motherboards, cpu, etc. I got the opinions of several computer tech savy guys and took their information into consideration. I'm aware that the nvidia 470 gtx isn't top of the line anymore, but it's still way better than the 200 series. It's just that I thought the 470gtx would have ran Fallout New Vegas better than what I anticipated. Maybe I'm just expecting too much but that was on my end. I can play Starcraft 2 and Mass Effect 3 and they look amazing on my new PC so I'm fairly satisfied... for now. I still have extra money to spend so an upgrade is still possible.

bBen, that is an interesting find you posted. I wasn't aware of such issues between Xbox 360 controllers when compared to PC gamers using keyboard and mouse. I heard that the PS3 is capable of allowing players to use a keyboard and mouse, but I'm not sure if this feature allows players to use the devices as an alternative controller.

9 FPS with mod's and GTX 460?
redhorizon09 replied to ejwith9953's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
I definitely agree with the others that because of the mods you're running, you're bound to get low frames. I mean, you can't expect to have smooth frame rates with Qarls Textures along with all the graphic enhancing mods you're running such as OBGE and the Really Almost Everything Visible When Distant mods. If you had beast of a machine that uses Crossfire or SLI, then maybe you can run Oblivion smoothly with all those graphic intensive mods. -
After I saw the first few screenshots of the next TES game, I built a brand new rig just for the purpose of preparing for Skyrim. I want to make sure I can take advantage of Skyrim's new graphics technology. Heck, even though my new rig is sporting a fairly powerful video card (470 gtx with 1.2GB video memory), I'm still not satisfied at how Fallout New Vegas and Oblivion looks on my PC. I'm considering upgrading to an even better video card some time in the upcoming summer; this way I can be sure that when Skyrim is released, I'll be able to crank up the resolution and AA to high levels.

1. It's still 9 months until the game's release...and you forgot better textures=less FPS 2. You speak like DX9/10 are old. DX10 still has bugs, and it runs much more poorly than DX9. I believe that DX11 does the same. If the developers make the game compatible with DX11, they will lose time for developing other important stuff. 3. Then you make a better game. And stop whining of what you want, its THEIR game, THEY are making it, not you. The only thing you do is to decide if you will buy it or not. Don't take anything offensive. It's only my opinion. I can agree with most of what you said, except for your third comment. It's true that Bethesda is the masterminds behind creating to the game, but you also have to remember that games are created for the gamers and not the developers. What this means is that if developers don't take considerations from the gaming population or do their researching on what made some games popular, then they risk losing out on profit when the game doesn't sell well. For example, Skyrim seems to have some stuff similar to the deadly reflex combat mod. Seems to me like Bethesda realizes that they should have implemented that kind of combat style into Oblivion in the first place because the mod is quite popular. Another example is Fallout New Vegas with the factions thing. Bethesda probably realize how mods such as OOO and MMM made Oblivion so much better so they implemented something similar into Fallout New Vegas. Speaking of OOO, I heard that Oscuro now works for Bethesda. I hope Skyrim will have his OOO influence in the creatures and quests. Loved his choices and consequences content courtesy of OOO.

Reducing lag solutions/ better fps?
redhorizon09 replied to roiyaru's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
Have you tried the stutter remover mod found at http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23208 Your video card is quite outdated. I recommend that you buy a new one. Stay away from the 7000 series because a few years ago, I had a rig sporting a 7800 gs and it still had many problems with massive stuttering and low frames when I only had the video settings on medium. If you're tight on budget, the 9800 is actually very a decent price now and can run Oblivion pretty well. The 250 is even cheaper in some cases, and is basically a 9800 with a different name. -
Is Skyrim the best choice for the next game?
redhorizon09 replied to XanAlderon's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
It's not just "rumors from other races" that Black Marsh is a harsh place. It is also the words of those who have traveled there and are not Argonians. I agree with you that because Black Marsh is the homeland of the Argonians and they should receive some kind of bonus there, but the "bonus" you're referring to would be sort of game breaking wouldn't it? It would be like being able to play a race in New Vegas that is completely immune to poison air infested Sierra Madre area whereas all other races/ethnicities are not. Well that's why if you read my post from earlier, I said that Bethesda would have to overcome some obstacles in making the place habitable and explorable by other races. In other words, they would have to make changes to the Black Marsh. For example (and this is only and example), after centuries of diligent work, to improve trade to their land the Argonians managed to build enough drainages in the Black Marsh to rid the area of most of the uninhabitable bogs and swamps while preserving and expanding the less harsh swamps to keep the Black Marsh an Argonian ideal land. In doing this, most of the previous wildlife that fed on the skin of non-Argonians, and diseases and toxic around the Black Marsh have disappeared. This is not to say that the Black Marsh is no longer a dangerous place, but its environment is now more forgiving. -
Is Skyrim the best choice for the next game?
redhorizon09 replied to XanAlderon's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
The problem I see with Black Marsh is that it is an extremely harsh environment for any race other than Argonians. There are flies there that feed on the soft flesh of the other races; this is just one of the problems. Let's not forget about the dreaded swamp rot issue in Black Marsh either. Because of this and many other hazards to the other races, I don't know how Bethesda will incorporate other races as playable into the Black Marsh part of the land without breaking lore. What I see is that players will probably have to play as an Argonian or they will suffer massive penalties for being in the Black Marsh... I don't know if many people will want to technically be forced to play as an Argonian because people want varieties and freedom in games such as TES. There are cities in Black Marsh you know. If you read the Argonian books from Oblivion, you can find some farmland and idyliic living in here. Never underestimate Beth. They will have to get to Black Marsh sooner or later, and a challenge they have no problem with tackling. I don't see how marsh infested bogs are an obstacle that ruins the lore. More of an oppertunity. Shivering Isles had bogs in the Fringe and in Dementia and the game still came out full of lore and was fantastic. BTW...I don't think flies are going to stop travelers in the ElderScrolls universe. If they can traverse deadly mountain ranges to get to Skyrim, then I doubt a swamp will stop them, including a hero who saves the day once again who isn't an Argonian. You're missing my point entirely. Yes I'm aware of some settlements in the Black Marsh, but lore is that other races either practically cannot survive in the Black Marsh or will have one hell of time living there trying to survive in most of the land's regions. Argonians are basically immune to the plague, diseases, poisons, and fleshflies in the Black Marsh. Hence the reason why Argonians make up the majority of the population in the Black Marsh and not the other races. The swamps and bogs of SI are way different from those found in the Black Marsh. Nothing was mentioned of plagues and deadly flesh eating flies and other such creatures thriving in the SI. If you don't consider Bethesda breaking lore by suddenly making other races immune to the diseases, plagues, and flesh eating flies in the Black Marsh without any reasons, then I don't know what else to say. I mean, I would sure love to play a TES game that focuses on the lore of the Black Marsh and the Argonians, but I would find it hard to fathom something as outrageous as a bosmer freely roaming the Black Marsh with little or no penalties as if he's in Cyrodiil or Valenwood. -
To sum up the comparisons of PC and Console: A good gaming PC is like an Aston Martin, whereas a good console system is like a Toyota Camry. Both can run the game fine, but the more expensive machine can do a much better job. However, I must point out that a PC is more technical in terms of use compared to the limitations of a plug and play console.

How do you make some corpses lootable?
redhorizon09 replied to redhorizon09's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
I'm using windows 7 home premium 64bit edition, and I believe I can create mods on my operating system because I've used nifskope to edit mods before and they load into the game just fine. The esp is checked before running Oblivion. My mod did save "okay", and I can "ordinarily use mods okay". Hence the reason why I'm able to run OOO and MMM. The strange thing about the mod I created was that if I load it after the bash patch, my created note does show up in Renault's inventory. However, if I load before the bash patch but after the OOO lootable Renault armor mod esp, the note doesn't show up anymore. You're probably wondering why I made a note on Renault. I don't like getting cool powerful items added by mods for free, so I decided to tuck two powerful weapons away into locked casks that requires some reading and exploring to find the locations of the key needed to unlock the casks. All of this is done without any quest pop-ups to guide the player as well because I also not a fan of most of the hand-holding quests in Oblivion. -

redhorizon09 replied to XanAlderon's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Not "everyone" is "always so hot for" elves. I prefer Bretons and Nords... Besides, Skyrim isn't about elves. It's taking place in a home turf of the Nords. What's the problem with elves? Seems to me like you don't like the vanilla beast races much anyway because your avatar and signature is that of a modded more human-like beast race. It's true that there are a good amount of various elf mods available but so what? If elves look "hot" as you say, then they're bound to attract attention. Personally, I believe that it's more difficult to try and find the vanilla humanoid beast races with beast features such as the facial features of a wild cat, as sexually attractive. How can anyone who is human find an argonian woman to be physically attractive or lustfully hot? Well, maybe if you have a fetish for scaly skin and reptilian facial features then maybe argonians will be attractive to you. However, from what I've seen on the Skyrim screenshots, I do love the "new" khajits look. Anyways, the way the lore is unfolding, Skyrim happens to be the next area of interest. Maybe the next TES after Skyrim will delve into the Argonians or the Khajits. For now, I'm choosing to wait for Skyrim and enjoy the next chapter to a long over-due sequel of TES. Because it's extremely difficult to just ignore the race mods you don't like right? It's already a blessing enough that talented modders decide to share their hard work with the TES community. There's really no need for mod bashing because of your personal taste. Besides, other people can play and mod their TES games the way they want to. You have this right and so does everyone else. Instead of whining about the excessive amount of beauty mods out there, why don't you learn how to mod and make your "perfect" beast race? -
I'm using OOO and MMM with all the required patches for compatibility. I tried using two mods found on Nexus to make Captain Renault's corpse lootable, but both mods are not working as intended even when I have the mods loaded after OOO and MMM. This means that even with both mods loaded, I still can't loot Renault's body for her armor. I then created a note and placed it into Captain Renault's inventory using the TES Construction set and saved the esp; the note I created and added into Renault's inventory will not show up in her inventory even after she dies. What gives? Anyone know how I can fix this?

No attributes? Am I the only one Worried?
redhorizon09 replied to BladeValant546's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Does intelligence even have numbers you ask? Before asking such a bold question in what seems to be a way of bashing traditional RPG elements, you should ask yourself: Does health have numbers? Does damage have numbers? Does Strength have numbers? etc, etc... My point of bringing this up is because there might not be definite numbers in attributes such as intelligence or strength, but numbers definitely helps a player to measure how far his/her character has progressed in that attribute. I believe this is one of the main reasons developers choose to keep such forms of visual data in certain video games. Think of it this way: without some form of visual measurement, it's more difficult to see if your character improved in a particular stat/attribute even if the improvement is just slightly. I have no doubt that tremendous improvements can be visually obvious. For example, a character who gained a tremendous amount of strength and is able to carry more weight and hit foes harder. I can assume that the character can hit foes harder because foes are dying a whole lot faster this time around when I bash them with my weapons. Then again, it's more difficult to visually see if my character has improved in strength if there is no data of some sort visually showing me that my character's level of strength is higher than before. Games are suppose to be fun, challenging, and entertaining. However, why take away something helpful out of a game if all it really is some form of visual measurement for character growth? If you want to add realism into the argument, it would make more sense for a character with low strength to start off scrawny in body build, but would develop into a more muscularly defined individual if the character has been training in heavy physical activities. About the sleep thing: sleep is in a way some sort of fresh reboot for the body and mind to rest and grow from any previous activities. I don't see how sleep would take away "realism" in a game such as TES. In fact, realistically if you don't sleep and rest, all that training you did will probably hurt you more in the long run than actually benefit you. I'm not saying that the sleep thing is perfect in Oblivion. Some changes do need to be made. Maybe fix some things about sleep such as not allowing sleep to restore health points to full if the player suffered major wounds, is poisoned, etc. -
Turning off auto item add to inventory
redhorizon09 replied to redhorizon09's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
Thanks a million. You saved me further hours of headaches reading through the TES Construction Wiki page (no offense to the wiki page because it is well made). I will keep your tips on a word document for note-keeping when modding. I gave you a kudos too. -
I'm wondering if anyone knows how I can stop a mod from automatically adding the items included in the mod to my character upon loading up a clean save file. For example, there is a clothing mod that automatically adds the outfit to my character the first time I load a save file after installing and activating the mod. Upon adding the item(s) to a character's inventory, a message is usually shown on the top left hand side of the screen alerting the player that an item has been added to the character's inventory. I'm asking for help on how to stop this from happening because I don't want the item(s) for free, and would like to place it into a dungeon. I know how to place the item into a dungeon using the construction set. I just don't know how to stop the mod from automatically adding the item to my character's inventory. I browsed the TES Construction Wiki for nearly an hour and read some of the tutorials but found no answers to my question. I browsed youtube hoping to find videos on how to make items automatically added to a character's inventory and how to stop the process, but all I found were videos on how to place items into the Oblivion world.

redhorizon09 replied to BladeValant546's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I can agree with most of what you said in an earlier post, but I disagree with how bad you made the athletics and acrobatics sound; sure there were problems with these two skills but those were faults on Bethesda's end for not giving NPCs the ability to jump, and for not reducing the back peddling speed of characters. In other words, the acrobatci skill was only "overpowered" because the NPCs couldn't jump. I loved the realism of trying to outrun from an enemy who's athletics skills exceeded my character's because it adds more challenges to retreating. I actually liked having the ability to improve my character's acrobatic and athletic skills because it adds more character skill customization to the game. I would rather have this kind of freedom of customization instead of having everyone stuck with the same run speed, how high they can jump, etc. Bethesda shouldn't have removed acrobatics and athletics, but should have just overhauled the system of how they work and make it harder for a character to improve on these skills. When I say overhaul, I mean things such as drastically reduce the speed of how fast a character can move backwards and actually allow NPCs the ability to jump. If NPCs can also jump, this can really bring some good changes to how fights would turn out in Skyrim because now NPCs will jump over certain obstacles when chasing you down or attempting to reach your level of ground. No longer can your character jump on top of a large rock and shoot arrows and spells freely at the retarded NPC who continues to foolishly run into the rock because it can't jump. Another solution could be that if Bethesda is hell-bent on removing acrobatics and athletics, just incorporate the abilities of the skills into a character's stats much like how they incorporated mysticism into the other spell schools. For example, a character with high agility and endurance should be able to jump higher, move, and run faster than a character with low agility and endurance. -
Sheogorath Voice Issue
redhorizon09 replied to redhorizon09's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Hey thanks for the reply. After numerous hours spent looking into many of the mods I had installed and finally resorting to complete uninstallation and then doing a clean install of Oblivion :wallbash: , I figured out the issue. It was indeed another mod that was causing the problem; I already contacted the author about it. It is a race mod available here on Nexus called the Tolkien Elves. The mod changes Sheogorath's name to another language as seen in the TES Construction Set. I'm not sure what else the mod changes about Sheogorath because I'm already frustrated that I did a clean install and lost all the mods I had installed previously, but I do know now that with the Tolkien Elves mod enabled, Sheogorath goes silent; with the mod disabled, Sheogorath's humorous voice returns and all is good again in the SI. Too bad I didn't catch the issue before I decided to do a clean install though... I'm not holding a grudge or neither am I upset at the mod's author for this issue. I'm just frustrated that I didn't catch the problem before resorting to a clean installation. Re-installing all the mods I had previously takes a long time because some of them are huge mods such as OOO and MMM but oh well. I'm sure the mod's author just forgot about some small details here and there and made a mistake with the English version. At least I figured out the problem one way or another :whistling:
