Making Skyrim look good is a lot of work. For me a fresh install of Skyrim equals several hours of installing mods, cleaning mods, troubleshooting mods. When I first started with modding Skyrim for improved graphics I found the instructions from the RealVision ENB mod to be really useful. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/30936/? Not only do they cover the installation of ENB it also lists a lot of good graphic mods to compliment it. Just make sure you read the entire thing, if you don't things won't work well. ENB is a resource hog though and you don't really need it you can get some amazing results without it. Looks great and still runs at 60 fps+ (running a i5 3570k, 8gb ram and a GTX 670 4GB at 2560 x 1080). With ENB it does look better but not by much but it tanks my fps to < 30 fps which is not playable.
