I assume, that by "that Dwarf NPC" you mean your dwarf companion Farli. Comparing Stonekeep masterpiece to Anvil of Dawn is ridiculous. Anvil of Dawn might be less buggy on the technical side, but considering it as a game means you like sterile, barren and repetitive environment and enjoy periods of concentrated boredom. Authors with all that technical polish simply forgot to add an actual game. Stonekeep is a well deserved classic offering premium entertainment with average game time of 2 months. Anvil of Dawn is a weird software package and "playing" with that in my opinion is a chore. EDIT: Stonekeep is much better in overall artistic impression and graphics as well.

18,000 SQ of a whole-lota-nothin' ! ANd the towns start to look very very similar.

Not at all. Its just, that you must work for it, scout the wilderness, find maps to reveal long lost locations, look for clues in books etc. Its not like "Oh look a spooky ruin full of treasures!" and after a moment of aimless wandering "Oh look another cool location!" like every five minutes. I'll try to answer your questions in the order you asked them. Dan will be an npc and will evolve into a conjurer companion by the end of the questline. At first you have to "save" the guy from a dragon right after he is conjured up because of a messed up spell in the college of winterhold. He would run out of the college because he assumes that he is merely knocked out and having a dream or a weird trip, and attack a dragon head on like a true blue noob :) He would be waving something like a broomstick at the dragon or keep doing destruction spell animations with 0 effect on the dragon, to make the fight look hilarious... you would be given the task to save his ass at first. Later you would be given tasks to help him get attuned to Tamriel's plane of existence, so he can learn enough from the school of conjuration to find his way back to his own realm. It would be pointed out, that he is a fast learner of magic usage, due to the fact that he's originally from a higher, a "parent" plane of existence to that of Tamriel (lightly suggesting, that he is from our reality - tho not getting too deep into that). Because of his origin, the greybeards would demand him to visit them in hopes of gaining a further understanding of entities originating from higher planes of existence - in hopes of gaining further understanding of the nature of dragons and the Voice. They would then meditate for 2 days with Dan to commune with his energies, and in the process both parties would share a portion of each other's knowledge, resulting in Dan learning a few basic shouts (only the first words) and the greybeards gaining further insights as to how and why humanoids are capable of learning the dragon language (the greybeards themselves aren't dragonborn either and it took them a whole lifetime to master merely a few words - although they aren't from a higher plane like Dan's character). They (the greybeards) would clearly state to the player (the dragonborn), that only he is truly capable of learning and flawlessly performing the dragonbane shout, but the dragons see Dan just as much a potential threat to themselves as they see the true dragonborn. Since i don't think i can get a hold of the voice actor for the talkative greybeard guy, i will have the greybeards communicate these developments to the player through letters. NPC-s will see Dan as a weird bard who utilizes conjuration spells to amp up his performance with background music. He might have an apprentice (a local Skyrim bard) who would explain to the player a few things he sees about Dan's character from the viewpoint of a local guy who befriended him. You basically say, that you don't want to get too deep into relation with Our World. I had an idea overnight, that since Dan is a rapper, so it might be nice to expand the story-telling by adding another humorous layer, which would consist from various pop-culture references related to Our World. -

First ideas about this. > Make it a classic adventure game with usable objects and puzzles etc, but in the award winning Elder Scrolls universe! > This means no fights ( ! ), at least not in the traditional hack&slash sense. It would force players to think, combine, evolve their strategies, which would make victory even sweeter. > Why? I bet there are not many such design approaches in The Elder Scrolls universe, so it has a fair chance to stand out and I think there might be still a lot of gamers looking for this kind of game-play focused on story telling and intellectual challenge instead of whacking monstrosities. > Do you know Shanty Town mod for Half-life 2? > Working Title: The Adventure Scrolls ( it could have episodic content ). * I might add more, or edit this in the future to clarify my ideas. Hopes this sparks some inspiration. Cheers! -

Yea, it doesn't work on Windows 7. After installation something bums out and you can't ever load the "CD," so yea... Works on Vista though. That's what I was playing it on... Until I got 7 -_- Daggerfall's super fun stuff! Lol, pretty crazy game for how old it is... (not SUPER old, but pretty old...) It appearently takes a full two, real weeks to walk across the entire map! WOAH! I though Morrowind had a big map... Oblivion's map was tiny... You all people need this: http://theelderscrol...erfallSetup.exe Neatly packed, including installer, just go trough installer and play, no worries with setup. It's optimized for WinXP and should run fine on Win Vista and 7 too, I think ( not tested ). Oh and there is also lot of fan bug-fixes and optional content, if you feel like it. Enjoy. The installer didn't work for me on Win 7 x64. So I installed Windows 3.11 in Virtual PC and ran the original Daggerfall setup from there. I also got it working in Dosbox but it seemed to stutter when I enter a crowded tavern/area. Even though I set my cpu cycles right up. Ok, good to know, it might be a problem on 64 bit system, I presume. It might work well on 32 bit Win 7. The installer works excellent on Win XP 32 bit. ( 64 bit Win XP not tested. ) UPDATE: For gamers, who want to delve deeper into Daggerfall's mystery I found this nice play guide: Beginner's guide to Daggerfall

hint-book 01: + For best experience make a custom champion. + The first dungeon serves as a proving ground for his/her survivability. + Loot graveyards ( ! ), once you get out. That will help you make some coin to start with. + Pawn unused loot at various town merchants scattered throughout the Iliac Bay. I'm a Red guard bounty hunter ( custom character ) wearing full plate armor with Expertise in long blade. I use dwemer daito blade as my main trusty weapon. Style of battle focuses mainly on striking vital points of the opponents body for swift and efficient execution and dodging enemy blows. My character has a low health triggered Adrenaline Rush for tense situations and is skilled athlete, so swimming, running and climbing for a long period doesn't pose a problem. He is also experienced negotiator well versed in Etiquette, Mercantile and Streetwise skills, which come in handy when dealing with various folks of the realm, be it a simple beggar, a wealthy merchant and/or snob aristocracy. To balance it a bit, he is restricted in usable weaponry, due to his narrow specialization and does not use magic at all with the possible exception of enchanted gear he has found, while adventuring in various strange places.
