I activated Boethiah's pillar of sacrifice without the quest being active, and now am receiving the notice "summons failed prematurely" infinitely in the left hand corner of my screen. Disabling scripts stops the problem, but reenabling them does not. player.dispelallspells does not fix. The problem may be with Timing is Everything altering the start time of the quest, but resetting that mod does not trigger a fix. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

However- to any future users who encounter this problem, I would recommend you first check your mod order and verify your game files.

Fix - applied ini edits to skyrim prefrences; bFull Screen=1 iSize H=1280 iSize W=800

I have been playing skyrim on this computer for years. I recently decided to do a reinstall. after reinstalling, I began encountering an error wherein there is no text at the main menu for continue, new, load, etc. I can still select these options, however the game freezes while loading anything. The error does not occur when I play in 800x500 windowed mode. Any larger or fullscreen produces the error. decreasing graphic settings does not produce a fix. I have verified all of the game files and attempted a complete reinstall three times. Each time I encounter the same problem. The error occurs with and without mods or skse.

Thanks Sakura, My problem has been solved as well. I play skyrim through a Wine wrapper, and there was a conflict with the version of Wineskin I was running and the most recent steam update. Updating to Wineskin engine version 7.29 solved the issue.

I am encountering the same problem after my recent reinstall.... Skyrim is loading fine on its own, but when I use the SKSE loader it freezes on the startup menu. Let me know if you find a fix.
