  1. "I would like the last several days of MY LIFE BACK PLEASE!!!" Yes your life liberty and freedom was inconvenienced by not being able to log into a game modding service. Consider that rather than going outside to enjoy all the beauty of the world and spend time with people you care about you instead chose to spend it looking through code. The only person who wasted your time was you.
  2. This thread was started in 2016 and the op was like "Old game = older than 2005." Bro do you even gaming? Some of us started out on an atari 2600 with a 1 button joystick and C64 that you had to start loading before dinner and if you were lucky your game was ready to go after. That being said my favorite "old" games happens to be my favorite game and that's Deus Ex.
  3. Yeah I lost a few brain cells trying to read that drivel. I've said my piece you go ahead and live in your terrible world where the evil of diversity and inclusion ruins everything I'll get back to the things in my life that are actually important. I'd like to say it's been really enlightening but it really hasn't.
  4. The unifying aesthetic of one version of a game could easily be used in a remake but since we're making a significant technological leap here and we're now also using full 3d assets it creates an opportunity to play with concept and introduce new ideas. I mean if it's just going to be exactly the same why invest so much in a remake? The good news is though just like with movie remakes the remake doesn't destroy the original. So you can just play that. Though it's very telling about your personality if the deal breaker in a complex rpg is if you can fap to the female protagonist or not.
  5. Bold claim please provide evidence of this very specific thing happening repeatedly. Again please provide evidence that A) said department exists B) it exists for this reason alone and that there's no other reason for it to exist. My guess at this point then is that you have no idea how game development happens. I feel like you imagine there was a single meeting about the game where everyone was gung ho about just copying diablo 2 pixel for pixel into a new engine then the doors burst open and some pink haired sjw came in screaming about how AMAZON BAD!!! and these billionaires who've made careers out of abusing their staff suddenly folded. Game design is iterative. That means trial and error. Given this isn't just hd pixels on the old game and they more or less rebuilt it from the ground up that means a lot of ground work had to be done again and that means test builds. During this time they will have had numerous concepts for the 3d incarnations of the characters drawn and redrawn, looked over by various members in the development and publishing side. Several of these concepts will have had 3d models made of them. Not to the detail of the final one of course (game art is very expensive) but enough so that people playing the early builds can get a feel for how things look and play. Now of course I wasn't in any of those meetings but I can almost guarantee you there were sexy amazons in some of those early builds and after a lot of consideration based on a lot of factors they went with one that actually looks like an amazon probably would over the original, the biggest being the overall aesthetic that the game is going for (graphics serve the aesthetic I'll link a good video about that down below). I also consider myself the target demographic and I love the new design so again speak for yourself but don't make sweeping generalizations based on how you and your mates see the world. It's a far more diverse and interesting place than you'd imagine and there are more than enough real problems in it without having to imagine angry leftists are trying to break all your toys. I'm not a moderator dude and none of their comments violated the ToS so quit playing victim with me. Abide by the ToS and there's no problem. Also do some fact checking before you make statements like that or literally anything you brought up in your previous comment. It's fine if you don't like their design choice and you are welcome to make a mod if it bothers you so much but don't go thinking this is all about wokism. Maybe spend a little less time watching youtubers complain about it and a little more time learning about how the industry actually works. 6. I was going to stay out of this but I can't help myself. I can only imagine how terrible the world you live on must be if you think a billion dollar corporation made decisions about a multi million dollar project based on what the so called woke people on twitter would think about it. It's called a unifying aesthetic. It's absurd to think that the company that gave us night elves is censoring by creating a strong woman that actually looks like she could hold her own in a fight and has probably been through a few. That being said you're very welcome to make your mod.
  7. Well most of the threads here have around 0 to 3 replies. Of those that do get replies a very small number will actually be an author as active authors generally have their own ideas and projects to work on so of that small percentage that actually attract an author what percentage do you think actually become mods? I'd say you not getting any replies is pretty standard and not indicative of the mod scene being dead or in any way worse than it ever was. Though given your little tantrum here you might get a few replies now or maybe a kind moderator will just lock this and spare you the trouble.
  8. Mod authors are creative people. We have more ideas than we know what to do with. We don't need anyone else's thank you very much. My advice to you is this Look at your big idea Find one small (very small) piece of it. Make that Repeat Adopt a learn as you go strategy Since we're talking a guild/faction then you are going to need to learn quests so seddons ck tutorials are what you need. Build it like this Learn to make a custom npc Next give them simple dialogue Next branching dialogue Next simple fetch quest (go fetch my book from my house) Next put a small dungeon between the npc and their house, just some caves and a few bandits Next learn traps etc Little by little you develop and reinforce your skills and slowly increase the scale and complexity of your mod until you have all the skills you need to make it yourself. This is pretty much how everyone here got started.
  9. Sup guys we got any experienced table top game masters around here? I used to play a lot and have an itch to set something up for the winter holiday. I've got 2 initial hooks one for cyberpunk and one for old school vtm.(by some amazing coincidence the 2 video games I'm most looking forward to playing) I could do with bouncing some ideas off people to flesh them out before settling on one but I don't want to talk to my prospective players about it for obvious reasons. Drop a comment if you game and I'll lay out what I'm thinking.
  10. Yeah I've never noticed this before either. I'm curious as to how vanilla your females are. It is possible that there is some scaling happening within an animation but it would be subtle and I assume it is since this is the 1st I'm hearing of it. Maybe you have a different female body where it's more pronounced as a result or maybe you badly need to start playing a new game lol.
  11. What's a hypertrain? As I mentioned before authors play their cards close to their chest because user interpret what they say as a promise. Unless an author specifically promises something then even the release is not promised and if they do promise x and not deliver then that's on them. Dev logging can help motivate authors through the long grind and help other authors to solve similar problems. We don't really need a dedicated space for it on this site though because there's so many other ways to do it. ooohhh hype train. Dunno why I kept seeing an r in there when I was looking at it on my phone. We already have Wip threads and image hosting. Authors have a responsibility to be realistic and if they do promise the earth and don't deliver it's on them but just showing a screenshot or saying "Hey I'm working on this" is not any kind of promise of anything.
  12. The hells a hypertrain? Who mentioned money? Dude seems to be suggesting we have a space to talk about our creative process and document how we overcome our different challenges. Sounds like a dev log to me. And some guys already do those for mods. No problem with that. Sharing information and pointing out how anyone can do this is a good thing. Google says hypertrain is a game available on steam. I have so many questions right now.
  13. So the TLDR is dev logging? Lots of guys already do that as well as streams where they're working and take questions. I see no harm in nexus having a dedicated space for dev logs for people to read and comment on. However I will say that one reason authors tend to play their cards close to their chest is people often interpret ideas or hopes as promises and the more entitled members of the community will use that to make trouble. Likewise dev logs have a tendency to attract "ideas guys" who start requesting the earth and some of whom can have a real attitude when not acknowledged. This could be making more work for the moderation team unless you allow authors control over commenting which as you can see from your other thread really upsets certain strongly opinionated people.
  14. Actually where it came from was your assumptions made about my post. It's okay we don't know each other you don't know anything about my life my motivations or anything about me other than three posts of text. You interpreted that based on your experience and in this case you were wrong. That's all there is to it. I am not a member of the mod author tribe here to demonstrate my superiority over the original poster who seems quite reasonable actually. Just a person who saw a post on a public forum and responded with my own point of view. I don't want this to drag out but after reading your post again I thought I'd add a few things to maybe help clear all this up I have never identified as a "mod author" making mods is something I did for fun and was always secondary to my 3d art. I actually nuked my entire mod author presence as well as gigabytes of unfinished mod work in January. This account only exists to re host one mod that I considered too much of a team effort to selfishly remove from the net. I don't make mods any more. I dabble in unreal engine and 3d animation. I'm a teacher, a low key Buddhist, a fitness and mma enthusiast. Ive been living as an x pat for more than 5 years, I admin on a discord for teaching 3d art and basic mod skills and I love fried chicken. So now you know a few superficial details about my life if you really think I'm a tribalistic author here to lord it over everyone .... Well you're welcome to your point of view.
  15. Concerning an earlier point about tribalism... I mean I'm not sure where that came from. You reference an earlier post which I can't seem to find. I wonder what happened to it? Let's try a little comparative diagnosis here You started a thread with a question that seems to be directed at mod authors. I assume you wanted to hear our side of it or you wouldn't have put it here where we can see it. So 3 different authors respond with fairly similar replies. Now sure this could be the "mod author tribe" uniting to defend itself in some kind of authors vs user war but how about this. We the authors on this thread are not really all that connected. We may exchange a meme or a hello on discord now and then but we're not some big clan out to get the user peons. Maybe it's just that we've all shared similar experiences in our comments because they're actually quite common. Sure the download to troll comment ratio shows that most users are cool people, either saying nothing, saying something nice or offering useful feedback and bug reports but when people come to your comments with an entitled attitude you tend to notice. Shared experience does not equate to tribalism. You asked we answered.
  16. First of all congratulations on reading a description, stickies and bug reports before installing a mod. You'd be amazed how many questions in a mod thread can be answered with check the description/sticky. Unfortunately we're dealing with a case of inductive rather than deductive reasoning here. Simple question what motivation could any mod author possibly have for this? Pride and ego may account for a very small percent of these comment deletions but otherwise there's nothing. This is just another case of a user completely misunderstanding the motivations of mod authors and the scale of making even small mods. Useful bug reports get fixed, comments with important questions get addressed it's only stupid or abusive stuff that gets deleted.
  17. Again I really don't know anywhere that you can actually contact an author. We're very open to sharing info on how to do something but someone to actually do the work for you is very rare. Also while you may have some vague idea of how much time you think it would take you really have no clue. I don't mean to sound insulting here but we often see posts about how easy xyz would be to do by someone who is suggesting months or years of work and has no clue what they're talking about. I really agree with Etheron here. Try it. If it is as easy as you think then it's only a few hours work and you've empowered yourself to do it again any time you want. Further more you may get a taste for making mods and by the time Star field and the new es game drops you could be able to produce all kinds of crazy s#*! and get those mad endorsement dollars.
  18. The short answer is no. It's not a matter of getting our attention it's a matter that we're all busy. Consider this, modding is a creative hobby, be it 3D modeling, level design, stories and quests or even scripting. It's all something that requires creative passion. And creative people have ideas, lots of ideas, usually too many ideas than we know what to do with. Now consider that even simple mods require weeks of work we've got plenty to keep us going. We simply aren't interested in your idea unless by chance we happen to already be working on it. As for paying that isn't going to work out either. The going rate for freelance 3d artists is $20 to $30 an hour. And you aren't buying a mod from us like in Creation club you are paying for our time. And as I said good mods take weeks to make. The investment wouldn't be worth the payout at your end. This whole board basically exists to keep requests from filling up other boards. If you want it best thing is learn to make it yourself. The community is very supportive of people actually trying to make things.
