  1. chime in, I am no expert, not by a long shot. But I had the whole missing texture experience when I first got into using mods so I know how frustrating it can be. I just try to help when I can, because mods can lift a game to a whole new level.
  2. his/her first post on here and new to PC gaming, so sounds pretty new to the whole modding scene. when I first got into Mods, even the word FOMOD would set my brain to leaking out of my ears. LOL
  3. your missing textures. if you know which mod its from, re-download the mod and install. let me add this... some mods are incomplete, or the modder forgot to include some assests. It's not a real common occurrence but it happens. you know how it goes, some one gets in a rush and misses a few things with out knowing it. if that doesn't work just let us know, there's a way to install them manually, assuming the texture is actually in the mod files.
  4. /\ ditto. I avoid posting in German, Chinese and Russian to keep from insulting the native speakers. Trust me I can butcher "where's the bathroom" in Ten languages and what little I know fluently would get me banned from most civil gatherings that were not held in brothels or navy ships.
  5. man I feel like an idiot, I've owned a guitar and a Violin for over a decade and I can only play eight songs on the guitar and make noise with the violin LOL Loud screeching noise's that get the dogs howling and the cats fleeing. I'd probably do better with bag pipes and at least I get that joke. LOL
  6. why? because Nifscope is nifty.... get it NIFty... sigh.... why am I the only one.
  7. sorry thought I was editing my first post. DOH!!! another good resource is other mods LOL. just ask permission and give credit where due.
  8. you can import the high poly count ones into Blender and use a scrip to reduce the amount with out changing the appearance much.
  9. okay folks, still at work on this mod. At the moment I am so busy dealing with personal and Estate business I dont have a huge amount of time to devote to the mod, so what time I do have I work on the mod. Two quests are more or less finished, I keep rewriting dialogue for various characters. Added a few more skill and stat checks. Some surprises for the player and hopefully some chaos in New Vegas LOL. hope to release a Beta wip in the next few months for play testing and opinions.
  10. Im too stupid for that. no your not, I might not have explained it well but honestly its pretty easy.
  11. one note to add to that suggestion.... open geck, click data, add FNV, when it finishes loading, save as "what every you want to name it", then locate the Lonesome drifter in the NPC catagory, He will be under Asian, Male, double click on his name, when the NPC window opens, look for the essential box(its under the traits tab and should be the first you see), click it, then save again and your finished.
  12. I think thats the correct one, I don't have access to GECK at the moment so I can't check. The size shouldn't matter, most of the textures I've made were 1.5 mb and up. though recently I've run into the exact same issue with a billboard static and custom texture. It might be a NIFscope issue, I seem to remember reading somewhere, that sometimes textures wont appear in NIFscope but will appear in game. I'll check that out when I get back.
  13. dxt1, 3 or 5 are the formats that are commonly used. normal map settings can sometimes screw with a texture. not being an expert I can only say from my own experience and what I have read having a texture appear as black is nine times out of ten a memory or CPU usage issue. 200 HD textures plus those of the game itself, new statics which includes duplicates of existing statics background scripts running adding to the background system processes puts a strain on a system and the older the system the bigger the strain. Its like a truck unloaded you get 20mpg, fill the bed and you get a slight reduction in gas mileage, add a trailer and slowly fill it up the worse your gas mileage. LOL hows that for a backwoods analogy.
  14. not a clutter item per se. when making notes, you can pick just about any static to use, and the same for Activators. so a simple static plane with a newspaper texture as an activator. you could have several to use as clutter, and then one to how ever many that are activators, enabled one by one using script that counts the number of days passed.
  15. how to write a quest... youre already on the right track. write it like a movie script ( more or less) you know.. Setting -noon on a nameless street, kids playing, dogs barking, serial killer killing someone on a corner. NPC Bob- (horrified) OMG a serial killer is killing some one on a corner, quick hide the dog. PC- (dramatic music) Never fear I am here to save the day.... BOB- wait all I wanted was some one to hide the dog so it quits barking. etc... once you have the location the dialogue and the action outlined, your halfway there. the easy half but still halfway. then its just a matter of setting up Refs, plugging your dialogue into the right spots, linking choices and setting conditions
  16. Thats pretty much what the slide show is, though its more a room in a internal cell with the screen static that the PC is transported to. Hmmm if MkTavish can get his comic book generator to work, I think the newspapers could be done as a separate esp at least at first to test it on. Each edition could be a static that is found on a table like notes and holotapes. instead of adding it to the inventory when selected it could be an activator with a choice to either read or drop. if you read it, your teleported to the paper room and the edition is right there in all its glory to read. a broadsheet (Thanks Dubious) would be the easiest to implement being only one page but for more pages I guess that you could link each page/slide to a hot key to advance it. not being a great script writer, I personally cant see any reason it wouldn't work but you never know with the GECK.
  17. my first thought and the easiest is to use notes. not what I would really like but for ease its the best. something like slide that can be called up from the pipboy or a hot key would be nice, but I am not sure how feasible that would be. some of the news of course could be done with a custom radio channel and a narrator which I am considering as well. and I am back to wishing for a team LOL. Thanks for the suggestions and let me know how your test run on the comic generator goes
  18. +1 if your steam folder is in the default location, you need to make sure you run pretty much everything as Admin. At least that's how its worked for me.
  19. NCR, lets face it wearing those Legion man skirts must get pretty cold when the wind blows.
  20. judging by the responses so far, I think splitting up some of the dialogue into random comments, notes and possibly newspapers would be the best bet. yes newspapers, I've been toying with that idea for a couple of weeks now. use a script to count the number of days then have a new edition spawn at specific locations (news stand and a couple of bars). I'm not sure how many editions I want to use, or just dump a lot of old editions to be found laying around in places with only a few new editions that spawn. Less is more is the general rule of thumb when writing in the industry these days, it might also explain the slump in book sales. LOL. on average though I do agree, nothing more boring than sitting there listening to an NPC drone on and on till I save so I can shoot them then reload just to feel better. its like being locked in a room with my ex demon in law.
  21. thats the format I was thinking of. It was on the tip of your tongue and you just couldn't remember it exactly huh? Hate it when that happens. yep. Seems to happen a lot more as I get cough "older" cough LOL
  22. for me FNV runs better on 10 than it did on 7. see that makes me wonder why? I started playing Skyrim on a 1.5 ghz cpu win 8 with no problems and eventually over sixty mods with far less problems than people on better systems were reporting. FNV ran like a charm on a system that met the base requirements and used win 8.1 then win10 till I reinstalled the game for a clean start. I almost think that most of the problems might stem from something in the hardware, or CMOS or the game fairies. sorry, didn't mean to ramble on but this is something I have wondered about for years in regards to various games and other software and all the reported problems for various OS's.
  23. That's incorrect. Lutana and other NVSE plugins should be installed to Data\NVSE\Plugins. apparently I am mixing things up. LOL I was thinking of the Lutana-NVSE.Dat file in the main folder. which is not the plugin. I stand corrected.
  24. Lutana should be installed in the folder that contains the FNV.exe file, along with NVSE and stuff. your second problem, It sounds familiar but I really can't remember what causes that. did you use archive invalidation after installing your mod(s)
