  1. Happy new year guys! (if anyone is here lol) It's been a while but I've been working on my site and have made the following additions to the MoM related games list. New MoM related projects added: Last Days of Old Earth – New game similar to Master of Magic Thea: The Awakening – New game similar to Master of Magic without tactical combat Dominions Series – Great retro looking series similar to Master of Magic Conquest of Elysium Series – Retro looking series (created by Dominions team) similar to MoM Armello – New game similar to Master of Magic without tactical combat Disciples Series – Similar to MoM & HoMM with amazing gothic artwork Warlords Series – Classic series similar to MoM & HoMM Leylines – Very cool looking fan made Master of Magic style game by the makers of several QFG fan games I like, so have given a full tribute page! Re-Master of Magic – Fan made master of magic remake added to RIP section. Unfortunately went dark before I could get any files or pics. Changes made to existing MoM content: General – Contents menu added. General – All back buttons changed to utilise HTML bookmarks. Now users don’t have to re-scroll down the entire page constantly! General – Fixed some missing slashes in code. General – Added HD picture links, photobucket downsized all the old ones too much grr. General – Added Steam & Good Old Games buy links. Master of Magic: Implode’s Multiplayer Edition – Clearly the best fan made MoM remake out there so I’ve given it a full tribute page and recorded a gameplay video. Worlds of Magic – Added Planar Conquest sequel details Elemental Series – Added Sorcerer King Sequel details As always, let me know if something is missing.
  2. Hi guys, Plenty Elemental/FE/SK fans here (or not here it would seem lol) who love the original Master of Magic game probably already know about it but for those who don’t know or haven’t seen it in years I thought I’d spread the word on an awesome fan project that’s still somehow going and has utterly blown me away. Master of Magic – Implode’s Multiplayer Edition is a brilliant opensource Java MoM engine rebuild that is far more closer to completion then any other MoM fan remake I've seen! It supports larger maps, up to 14 players (either Human or AI), and any modern windows resolution like HD 4K etc. The author Implode intends to expand on the original MoM experience but with minimal changes to the core gameplay and graphics that we all love. Implode the creator of MoM-IME has been working on this project for over 12yrs now and isn’t getting much support these days so if you’re a huge Master of Magic fan and you’ve dreamed of playing against 13 other wizards in massive slaughterfest over 2 giant worlds in high resolution then get yours butts over to the sourceforge page and try out the latest demo and offer your support! For anyone interested here’s a video I recorded of his game in 1080P (FYI it doesn’t go full screen until the map loads)... Part 1 covers me exploring the starting an empire (fast forwarding through slow bits): http://i.imgur.com/QcvnvPd.png Part 2 covers me attacking some neighbours and starting a new game in the Myrran dark world: https://youtu.be/gepiu3CfWOA?list=PLZqnaGtTZxFbVqkiHi-WC4ibIkFqjRBxQ NOTE: This video was made with the 2015 WIP 0.9.6.3 release. There have been multiple releases since adding things such as treasure rewards and hero items. In late 2016 Implode started work on the much anticipated enemy wizard global AI (AI build cities & armies, casts spells etc) so I can’t wait for that! Battle AI is functional however so you can still have a fun monster/treasure hunting RPG style game in the current build. Download latest demo build from: http://sourceforge.net/projects/momime/ Old MoM-IME forum: http://mom.pjj.cc/forum/index.php If anyone's interested I also run a Master of Magic facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/MasterOfMagicGame/ For more information on this and many other MoM related games & mods check out my MoM Legacy Games page here: http://blakessanctum.x10.mx/Games/MoM/
  3. Well this place is quiet lol? If there's any Elemental/Fallen Enchantress fans passing through here who loved playing Master of Magic (the game that inspired the Elemental series) back in the day then I could use your help. Long story short about eight months ago I re-installed MoM in Dosbox and loaded my old savegames from 1998 and picked up right where I left off conquering Myrran and then invading the earth like world. I spent a lot of my teenage years in the 90s playing MoM so it was so much fun to play it again all these years later. When I finally finished my game I decided to make a tribute page on my retro website paying tribute to MoM along with listing the great many successful & sadly unsuccessful MoM related fan remake/sequel projects out there to make sure that they are never forgotten and can inspire talented MoM fans to create new MoM projects in the future. I also created a list of other games out there that are similar to MoM as there are many spiritual sequels these days (obviously Elemental/Fallen Enchantress made the list!). For these lists I collected pics, vids, demos, and information for as many of them as possible. I could use some help from the community with this list as I'm sure there's more I don't know about. This is my latest summary of the website list below. Website: http://blakessanctum.x10.mx/Games/MoM/ http://i.imgur.com/p8lCWcO.png ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Master of Magic Legacy Games list (Updated 10/11/2021) : Official MoM Games - Master of Magic - Civizard - Majutsu no Keifu (Official Japanese Playstation conversion of MoM) - Caster of Magic I & II - Master of Magic Remake (New official remake coming in 2022!) 4. Hey guys.. I realise Webrings went out of fashion quite a while ago lol.. but I was bored and figured I'd create one for Elder Scrolls as I was surprised there wasn't one when I went to stick my new Elder Scrolls webpage in one. Apparently they delete rings after a few months if there's less than 3 rings so If you've got a Elder Scrolls related website feel free to come and join the ring! http://clsc.webring.org/hub/elderscrollsring
  5. Hi guys, is there a Oblivion mod that allows you to place/plant trees and/or bushes? Was just thinking how it would be cool if I could do some cool stuff around my castle grounds just like castle owners in the real world do haha. :) I've tried to find a mod myself but have had no luck.
  6. lol yeah I had Hero Quest as well. Played it on a 16 colour 286 hahaha.. used to be a long loading time between each & every screen lol! Those were the days! I thought it was a one off as I couldn't find a Hero Quest 2+ but then in the late 90s I found the QFG anthology and nearly dropped the box in shock when I realised that it was my old Hero Quest game renamed with new graphics and 4 sequels I never knew about! Then I had a go at QFG4 and had a new favourite in the series!!! If you haven't gone past QFG3 then you're missing out mate!
  7. Nah the game was abandoned back in 2001 as the makers had to hide from an angry sierra lol. It’s never been touched since unfortunately. Several groups have tried to fix it up but gave up quickly as apparently the code is really dodgy and poorly done. That’s very good to know as in version 1 of my walkthrough I said it was possible for all characters to build up enough strength to defeat the murderer. But then I got a bunch of emails from people telling me they'd got their strength into the 300s yet they still couldn't beat him. I tried to do it myself but I ran out of patience pretty quickly as my mage and thief just weren't increasing their stats after stacks of battles. So I adjusted the walkthrough in version 1.2 to say that it was 'near' impossible as I still thought it was possible but had no evidence to back it up. Until now so thank you!!! I did discover in my version 1.2 walkthrough earlier this year that I was wrong to think it was just about strength and in fact health points (which don't seem to be connected to vitality in QFG4.5) were important too since if you had more health (say 150+) you could stay in the fight long enough to peck away at him. I was able to raise my health points with my mage once and then it just didn't happen again after stacks of battles and I ran out of patience again lol. Unfortunately the stats system in the game is very bugged (I got my climbing skill past 999 into weird minus figures once lol) which is a shame as I'm someone who loves crunches up all the stats to max in QFG games.
  8. Yeah I've heard that, I guess I'll confirm when I complete the game in the next few days hopefully! I spoke with both Lori and Corey Cole a few months ago before they started the kickstarter and they both told me that they are in contact with 2 different studios trying to get the rights to the QFG series off evil Activision. Hopefully if the Hero-U series does well they'll get the necessary funds to push harder for that QFG licence and we will indeed get the chance to continue our characters. Some have said that there can't be a sequel as he's already done the whole ‘become king, get married & live happily ever after’ thing but I say that’s rubbish. The same thing happened with King Graham in King's Quest 1-4, yet along came King's Quest 5 where he put on his old adventuring hat and set out again and was arguably the best game of the series! Glad to hear my walkthrough helped! If you found any quest or item I missed let me know. Yeah that one ‘scene’ is probably what made the game a forbidden topic at Quest for More Glory, even mentioning the name gets you banned lol!
  9. Cool, yeah I've been replaying the anthology over the last 2 years with all 3 character types reliving my childhood lol & also for my QFG webpage. I still have the orginal box which I treasure heaps. Am now up to QFG5 which I've actually never played before (only had 1-4 & a demo of 5 when I was young), I thought I'd hate it based on comments I'd seen people make but I'm actually really enjoying it! Feels good to know my characters that I started so long ago are now coming to the big end of the story. Its funny.. people rave these days about how the Mass effect series allows you to import & continue your same character but QFG was doing it in the friggin 80s and 90s haha.
  10. Yeah QFG4 has always been my favourite in the series too. Glad to see another fan here. I just woke today to discover Hero-U has made its funding, the Cole's are back in business making adventure games! :)
  11. Hey guys.. I just realised I should probably post about this here as there are pockets of old fans out there like me in the various comunities who played the old Sierra adventure games like Kings Quest & Space Quest etc and of course the great aventure RPG hybrid 5 game series Quest For Glory! QFG is largely one of the reasons I got into Elder Scrolls so quickly as their skills systems are very similar! :) Good old QFG pics http://i1173.photobucket.com/albums/r581/Blakeley00/Games/QFGSeries/QFG1/Screenshot01.pnghttp://i1173.photobucket.com/albums/r581/Blakeley00/Games/QFGSeries/QFG1/Screenshot02.png http://webspace.webring.com/people/ed/d_blakeley/Games/QFGSeries/QFG4/Background.gif Well after nearly 15 years of quiet the orginal QFG creators Corey & Lori Cole have been inspired by the recent Leisure Suit Larry & Space Quest dudes kickstarers and are working on a new game called Hero-U (kind of set in the QFG universe as they don't have the rights to make a proper QFG games yet unfortunately) and have a Kickstarter for it. There's about 10hours left on the Hero-U Kickstarter and they've aaaaalmost got there but its a worry.. I keep refreshing every hour.. this is gonna be a close finish lol! If there's any QFG fans here check it out and lend a helping hand! :) I've been broke lately plus to be honest Im not even sure if I'm even gonna like Hero-U but I just threw in a nice $90 for 3 reasons: 1- My way of saying a big thankyou and showing loyalty to the Coles for the 5 QFG games that I’ve love so dearly since my childhood. To me the money is really a payment to the Coles, not really HeroU. 2- The Coles have hinted that if Hero-U is successful then there's a good chance of more QFG games in the future. If it’s not then we can probably forget about any more QFG. So I consider the money a future investment for QFG! 3- Ya never know, maybe HeroU will be really good. It is being made by the Coles after all! Hope they get there!!!!!
  12. KOTOR.. another old game on my 'to do list' lol The game has been announced!! Star Citizen! A game of multiplayer online and single player offline adventures. The cryengine 3 powered graphics look insane!!! http://cdn.cheatcc.com/news_images/star%20citizen.jpg Here's Chris Roberts quick pitch video.. slap it into HD on a big screen and you'll be blown away!!! http://player.vimeo.com/video/51135962 And if people are really interested, then here's his 1hour GDC presentation. http://au.gamespot.com/shows/gamespot-live/?event=roberts_space_industries_gdc_panel20121010&fb_source=message At the 23:50 mark he hops into the game and walks around this massive carrier, looks out of a window into space and then goes down to the 1km long hanger deck and physically climbs into his fightrer and takes off and then flies up to the same window he looked out of and looks in at the people walking around the ship.. just freaky!!!! Whats really cool is that he also said you and your friends could man a big ship and have one guy piloting, some on the turrets, and others jumping into their fighters all working together like people do in tanks in the online battlefield games. My only concern is they're asking for a sh*tload of money!
  13. Cool, yeah for those who haven't tried it Freelancer's like the X-series games but with Chris Roberts behind it taking it up to the next level in scope and storytelling (he loves making movie like games). Its got the sandbox go anywhere and trade/fight but there's also a decent story with a movie feel to it (clever camera angles & lighting etc). My favourite part which I've seen no other games do is how you can land on planets (often in huge star wars like cities) and inside stations & battleships and walk around them visiting bars, shops and traders. The bars are my favourite (you can tell starcraft 2's bars were inspired by this game) as they normally have seedy space music, corporation peeps lookin to do business, windows that see out into space (in real time hence you can see battles outside) and tvs that show big empire news/events. After hearing about Chris's new game coming I decided to re-install it and play a new game. Being nearly 10 years old it looks a rather dated (compared to X-series & Eve) yet the colours and music create such a great atmosphere still. There's a good modding community too (nothing like here but still good) and I was quickly able to find a HD resolution mod, a HD texture mod, and a bloom lighting affect mod that combined with nivida drivers forced 16x AA & AF make the game look so much better now. In fact typing this post up has just inspired me to whip up a quick page on my site showing a comparison of vanilla (game looking its original best) and my modded version. :) Here’s some example shots (more pictures on the page I just made) http://webspace.webring.com/people/ed/d_blakeley/Games/Freelancer/Freelancer01A.png http://webspace.webring.com/people/ed/d_blakeley/Games/Freelancer/Freelancer01B.png http://webspace.webring.com/people/ed/d_blakeley/Games/Freelancer/Freelancer02A.png http://webspace.webring.com/people/ed/d_blakeley/Games/Freelancer/Freelancer02B.png http://webspace.webring.com/people/ed/d_blakeley/Games/Freelancer/Freelancer06A.png http://webspace.webring.com/people/ed/d_blakeley/Games/Freelancer/Freelancer06B.png
  14. Yeah I'm the opposite, I mucked around with a few of the Wing Commanders and always planned to play them but never got around to it. But then a mate showed me Freelancer and I was HOOKED. Am watching youtube 'lets play' videos of each Wing Commander now though as I've realise i'll never have the time to play them (would cut into my ES time :P ) but wanna see the story and the ones with all the famous actors in them.
  15. I'm playing it at the moment modded with the HD texture & rez pack and the bloom lighting mod.. looks freaky!! The reason I'm playing it again after nearly a decade is becuase there's a new game comming from Freelancer creator Chris Roberts coming which I can't wait for!! http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/798733-chris-roberts-freelancer-wing-commander-returns-to-to-make-new-space-game/
  16. Been a crazy few months with all these kickstarters and gaming legends coming out of retirement with new projects and sequels etc hasn't it! Exciting times for old gamers like me heh :) For years and years mates and I have talked about how much we wanted another Freelancer style game, well it looks like its happening. Chris Roberts has come out of retirement saying finally the technology ha caught up to allow him to create the ultimate cinematic space sim game. Official announcement on the 10/10. If you sign up at his site now you can get more information and bonuses in the game when it is released. I love playing the X series and am a big fan of Eve. But nothing has recreated the atmosphere of Freelancer and that epic movie feel it and the Wing Commander games have. I just loved in Freelancer how you could land on planets visiting huge cities. I have awesome memories of docking at massive space stations & battleships while a big battle was going on and walking into their local bar and relaxing next to a window watching the epic battle play out as I conducted 'business' with some corporation peeps. You'd read up on all the latest empire news, see if their mechanic had some cool kit for your ship and then take off into the unknown. :) http://au.pc.gamespy.com/articles/122/1226029p1.html http://robertsspaceindustries.com/ https://www.facebook.com/RobertsSpaceIndustries The design sketches look awesome!!! The 1st one looks so Freelancer like! http://pcmedia.gamespy.com/pc/image/article/122/1226029/ChrisRobertBlogroll_1347313931.jpg http://robertsspaceindustries.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/starshipbridge-740x300.jpg http://robertsspaceindustries.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Carrier-Hangar-740x300.jpg
