  1. I'd love this too! It's way too easy when the game automatically pauses for you in these situations.
  2. I do need this too, this is so essential I can't believe it doesn't exist yet.
  3. For those who are still aving the issue, try editing all the fallout.ini files you've got on your computer, and especially the Fallout_default.ini, whih is located in the installation directory (x:\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 3 goty). Delete any [Fonts] section you find and replace it with the text below. It worked for me. [Fonts] ;sFontFile_1=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Monofonto_Large.fnt sFontFile_1=Textures\Fonts\DarN_FranKleinBold_14.fnt ;sFontFile_2=Textures\Fonts\Monofonto_Large.fnt sFontFile_2=Textures\Fonts\DarN_FranKleinBold_16.fnt sFontFile_3=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Monofonto_Medium.fnt ;sFontFile_4=Textures\Fonts\Monofonto_VeryLarge02_Dialogs2.fnt ;sFontFile_4=Textures\Fonts\DarN_FranKleinBold_Otl_12.fnt sFontFile_4=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Sui_Generis_Otl_10.fnt sFontFile_5=Textures\Fonts\Fixedsys_Comp_uniform_width.fnt ;sFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Monofonto_VL_dialogs.fnt ;sFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\DarN_PetitaMedium_Outline_18.fnt ;sFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Forgotten_Futurist_Otl_18.fnt sFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Sui_Generis_Otl_13.fnt ;sFontFile_7=Textures\Fonts\Baked-in_Monofonto_Large.fnt sFontFile_7=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Libel_Suit_Otl_24.fnt ;sFontFile_7=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Klill_Outline_20.fnt sFontFile_8=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Futura_Caps_Large.fnt
  4. I'm really interested to bypass this useless feature too.
  5. Alright I fixed the problem on my side. I started by simply deactivate Open Cities (via Mod Organizer), and I could at least enter the city without crashing. But as it is said on the mod's nexus page, it is not recommended to do so. I found that verified simply by the absence of many NPCs in Windhelm... Maybe it was just a question of waiting the cells to get reseted, I honestly didn't wait to find out. Then I saw on the mod's page, that since the final patch released for Skyrim, "Open Cities Skyrim had little trouble operating in the available memory the game provided. [...]" "Fortunately the community has devised a solution to this problem in the form of a pre-load memory patch. There are several options for these now, but the one I most strongly recommend is shipping as part of SKSE now beginning with SKSE 1.7. In order to configure SKSE 1.7 to resolve this problem, you simply need to make sure your skse.ini file in Data/SKSE contains at least the following lines: [Memory] DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768 ScrapHeapSizeMB=256 [...]" This has fixed my game for real ; It was only a memory-related issue. Can't believe Google couldn't find this... Anyway, I hope now people facing this issue will find this topic!
  6. I've got the exact same problem, and we both have a lot of mods in common (unlike you, I don't have any mods in my knowledge that modifies whatsoever Windhelm though, except maybe Open Cities). Did you manage to fix the problem? If so, how so? Thanks in advance. N.B.: I've tried a lot of things, including BOSS-ing, TESVEdit-ing, using the default .ini-s, deactivate a lot of mods, and even loaded a Vanilla save w/ the mods acivated (so it's not save-related) and I still crash when trying to enter Windhelm... However, amongst my numerous attempts, I sometimes managed to pass through the doors but it became ultra laggy, maybe because what's causing the CTD was still loading... Also my Papyrus Log didn't help for me. I was wondering if a real crash log existed to solve the problem as the Papyrus Log isn't one... What was loading when the CTD occurs is without any doubt the cause of the problem, I am surprised I didn't find any programm that can trace this kind of information. [I'm French, sorry for my possible mistakes.]
