  1. Ok, where to start "It's just a game", this is impractical as any sort of argument. Videogames can, and will offend people. Fine, create your barbaric backwards ass mods, but keep that to yourself. Taking something hateful or flagrantly barbaric and posting it on the internet will only propagate the ideas that this s*** is ok, when it is not. Lets apply this same type of thinking to allowing child prostitution in the game. Think about it, it doesn't hurt anyone, the children are all virtual, it may offend but its not like someone is forcing you to download it. Victimless right?. Whether or not something is part of someones "Culture" doesn't make it any less barbaric. And before you say anything like "Oh, but pedophilia isn't part of anyone's culture" Muhammad, consummated his marriage with his wife when she was 9. In South Africa exists an old and accepted sex trade, So accepted it is widely considered part of their culture. girls as young as 12 can be legally wed. Here is my favorite part, Well, honestly, all our problems right now are stemming from intolerance and/or butting in where we are not welcome. I would hate to see a mod about about child prostitution but honestly if I ran this sight the adult prostitution would be moved somewhere else. All I am saying is, I feel like all cultures should be supported. But ultimately that's up to Dark0ne. What you are "adding", that this is Dark0ne's website, blah blah blah, has been said a thousand times ad nauseum already. Seriously, the complete lack of respect for freedom around here is telling. It's a wonder you guys don't love Atombombe's mod because you're all a bunch of little Hitlers around here. And the "I know it when I see it" what is meant by that is if it gave the judge a boner then it would be pornography. And those who would want to be ruled by Kings.
  2. Wow this is probably the biggest example of brown nosery I have ever seen on this forum. And that is saying a lot. Looks like someone is looking to make moderator this year. How many Mossad agents do you know? I didn't know Mossad were battlefield soldiers, I thought they were squirriely little assassins with no honor.
  3. Clear admission of tyranny, no respect for others opinions if they conflict with your own.
  4. This place is crazy with the ban hammer. For example they just banned a guy named "Bunny Poop Cereal" because his name was "offensive" or whatever. And second, the mod you are talking about doesn't reduce their rank. For example one of the highest ranked military members is still a female. It just makes it so that women are not typically out patrolling and assuming combat roles, which is for good reason, as objective military testing as shown that women are less effective on the battle field than men.
  5. http://newvegasnexus.com/modules/members/index.php?id=709292

Here you might as well ban his friend too, since he uses a similar symbol as an avatar.

  6. Yeah well, Deutschland Atombombe has been banned for avatar, even though he has had it for a number of years. I think it is silly they are just now getting around to it, I am not even the ban is supported by any of the rules in the TOS. (And any explanation would probably reeaaally be stretching it.) I bet Ben really wants to ban me now, since I sent him a PM telling him I thought what he did was wrong. It would be par for the course for this place.
  7. Actually that is not true at all. The pirated version worked very well, and continues to work well with NVSE, the stutter remover version, and the 4gb version of Fallout New Vegas. It seems most of the people having problems are paying customers. Why did this guy get banned for this?
  8. No, no, no. All work would be completely Zenball's. Credit would go to those original authors as finders of those bugs and ways to fix them. However, since all of these fixes would be reimplemented by Zenball and this implementation would be original, this mod would be completely his own work. It would not be simply a compilation of someone else's patches. What any community would not benefit from is increased bureaucracy. And this is what will happen if these ideas about "non-protected" mods, fixes that cannot be copyrighted etc. is implemented. Because every such compilation will then cause a flame where people will discuss whether or not the fixes are trivial, whether or not modders' rights apply in this particular case et cetera. Okay, but for bugs like Veronica's not leveling up bug, how would know that had been originally created and not just "copied" being that there is only one way of fixing it? Or the NCR Patrol Armor bug. Or the dozens of other bugs fixed in that patch. How would anyone know it had been created originally since even in the earlier uploaded fix mods there is no mark of authenticity?
  9. Well we don't want to deprive anyone of the glory of being a "finder of bugs".
  10. So in another words Zenball screwed up by A) calling it a community compilation instead of "ZENBALL'S SUPER AMAZIN BUG FIXAN UBER PATCH" and B) even _trying_ to give the original "authors" their due credit. What a funny system we have here where taking credit for other's people work and saying you did it all would be perfectly fine since it would be impossible for the moderators to prove otherwise through an investigation.
  11. I think what you are thinking of requires NVSE. Check the official Bethesda FONV mods forum and look for Imp's more complex needs thread. He is planning on adding additional indicators and things to the hud.
  12. Hey maybe you missed the part where many of these fixes can only happen one way and leave virtually no room for the author to insert their own personal touch on the fix. For example of the NCR Patrol Armor fix, how in the world is it that the person who uploaded that get exclusive right to that fix? All the esp does is remove a "Has Backpack" flag from the NCR Patrol Armor. So if I wanted to include that in the Community Compilation how would anyone know whether or not I merely "stole" that fix or did it myself?
  13. Seems that way. It's terrible, I know. But you see Earthbound, when someone fixes a bug in a dialogue script or something they, now and forever, own that bug fix, apparently.
  14. Try to keep on topic here - what do you think of the ideas I outlined above? Well I thought it was pretty relevant to the topic here, being that it contains sound files from Rick Astley, which is probably owned by a large record company, which was probably was not asked for persmission to use those songs, and here it is that mod is being protected and uploader is protected as the "creator" of the assets. Not only that but his credits and permissions page requires you to get HIS permission to use any of the "assets" as well as other authors. Checked the original authors page and he requires permission to use ANY of the assets in the file, which includes the Rick Astley song that he did not create, nor probably didn't even get permission to use. I just think it's strange how some website can give owership rights of Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up", which I _thought_ was owned by RCA Records/Sony, to some other random guy on the internet.
  15. What is the copyright situation on mods like this? http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37151
  16. Use adblock plus, never suffer through another annoying ad ever again
  17. You're specifically creating examples that are trivial to muddy the waters. Bottom line: Dark0ne's site, Dark0ne's rules. Don't like it? Don't download from here, don't upload your mods here, stop trolling the community and go away. In the above example, no, you don't own the concept. Someone else could redo you efforts *from scratch* in GECK and upload a similar mod. But if they downloaded yours, changed the names and re-uploaded it and called it theirs, they would be in the wrong. (It's never as easy as that. There's the ReadMe file, the comment on the ESP itself, the way you name your variables, the style and syntax inside the scripts. Plus the description on the site, the filenames, etc.) The fact that this website is owned by a person and they have the right to do what they want was never in contention. Perhaps a discussion about what changes are owned property is entirely above you, in which case you are dismissed.
  18. Okay, so if I go into the GECK and make it so the normal run speed is 10% more than default and upload it here, I own the "run speed is 10% more than default setting" now and forever, and no one can make a mod where run speed is 10 percent more than default without getting my permission, right? Is that how you think it should be? That makes sense to you? Of if I was the first guy to upload a multiple companions mod, I should be able to go around and file infringment complaints against anyone else who tries to make a similar mod? Also, by the way, I don't know if you have ever seen the TV show Trailer Park Boys, but the way you get words wrong reminds me of the character Ricky. "Washington's ideas", "incentivate", you're an original riot man.
  19. I am just saying just because you go into GECK and change a few numbers you don't own those numbers, others would beg to differ.
  20. The above is from: http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1134249-relz-community-bug-fix-compilation-patch/page__st__140__p__16656131entry16656131 I am not disputing your factual statement that Jefferson owned slaves, but I have refuted your inferrence that because he owned slaves his statements about exclusive right are invalid. His statement about exclusive right have nothing to do with him owning slaves. Further, him being a hypocrite does not make his statements on exclusive right invalid. Owning slaves is wrong, not his opinion about exclusive right. Check your premises.
  21. That's a pretty good troll, but unfortunately does not refute the points he made.
  22. sure, you never called me (or other modders) selfish or greedy per se, but by calling The Nexus out on their cooperation with people who contest uploads because they feel that their works have been infringed upon, you implied it, specifically through your use of Jefferson's points on patents. (once again, do some more research.) you assume there is no dialogue going on between the uploader, The Nexus, and the author who has contested the upload. any such dialog is conducted in private and really is between them and is not privy to the public. it shouldn't be. its really none of our business. if there is no dialogue going on, i would assume the uploader of the patch cannot smooth the issue over with the guy and he will just remove the offending content and re-release, or find someone else willing to provide a substitute. as unfortunate as this situation is, its obvious the uploader went to great lengths to provide an accurate listing of credits, and while i would find it hard to believe any fellow modder would be so callous as to continue to disallow the use of the mod once proper credit is given (if true ownership is confirmed that is), its not my call. of course not. anything you do with The GECK is owned by Bethesda. but Bethesda didn't make the mod, "insert name here" made the mod and certainly should be credited for it. if the edits are that simple, your more than welcome to get into The GECK yourself, make all the same edits that are found in the community patch, use it, and re-release upload your work with your name on it. Sorry, but all research I am seeing on Jefferson and exclusive right/copyright indicates that Jefferson was opposed to the exclusive right of a person to a creation for his own selfishness, and that the benefit of new ideas and inventions belongs more to society than it does a single man. You will also note in the constitution that created copyright, even while acknowledging that potentially there could be many negative effects associated with this, for the advancement of science and art for the benefit of all, not just a single inventor or creator. Look man, I wouldn't mind if you actually did want to talk more about Jefferson and copyright, but if you're going to say "do more research, do more research" you should really know better than to not give any leads. Searching on the internet for "research" can lead to various types of information on a subject, not always something that backs up your side. If you don't _want_ to give any sources for your claims, that is fine also, I will be more than willing to accept your concession.
  23. no need to thank the people that did the work or even acknowledge that they even did anything right? all that matters is that the "members of the community" you just gets what the **** they you wants when **** they you want it i guess. i struck out "members of the community", simply because for the most part, they actually understand and appreciated the work us modders do i really dont think you understand what the hell he was talking about. How dare you lump us modders that provide original content FREELY for the benefit of the community in with those who would simply hoard creations for the sole purpose of monetary gain. you have no ****ing idea what you are accusing us of by quoting Jefferson.. calling us greedy and selfish simply because we ask for credit for our work. your ideals on the matter are a ****ing joke. seriously is it so ****ing hard to wait a day or so for the issue to be resolved? Hahahah. Okay, simmer down now! You're getting so mad over this. There is no reason why we can't have a calm civil discussion about it. I never called you greedy or selfish, I think credit should be given where credit is due. However, why is it that there is no attempt to facilitate a dialog between the creators and the maintainer? And for that matter, if you edit a few values in GECK, who is to say that you are the "owner" of those edits? Was there any actual content creation at the heart of the matter?
  24. Look, nexus crew, I know that "protecting the creators" is "how you roll", but here are some words from Thomas Jefferson on the subject of copyright and exclusive right, and while I respect your right to have an opinion, his, I believe are much more thought out. You guys seem like copyright protecting automatons by comparison. Bolded that last part for you. Gee sound familiar? Yeah I know you guys are successful, biggest Fallout mod site yadda yadda yadda, I am really posting this for the benefit of the community.
