Mods aren't showing on Data Files!
runicNomad replied to CalamityCookie's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Yes texture mods will not show in there and either will script mods If you are seeing some of them in the data files then the others should also be there. If you are not seeing them then open skyrimprefs.ini in my documents>my games>skyrim add this line bEnableFileSelection=1 this line goes under the [Launcher] section of the ini After that click all your mods and choose load loose files. Nexus mod manager as well as wyre bash are very helpful programs to add into the mix to track mods so you know what has been installed and can troubleshoot problems later on. -
I cant help but to get onto a convo on steam disgust! So let us elaborate on what is the issue with steam. 1. It is forced on me not just once but each time I play skyrim and guess what when the Ck is out (which is delayed for full steamworks integration) we will not be able to use the ck without steam either... hmm more forcing it on me. 2. Steam collects demographics and gains profit from those demographics by selling games and target advertisements for games. This could be useful for some however we are paying them to make profit of our demographics. I want a cut at least. 3. I have 0 control over where I place my game without some research and hacking and I have no ability to gain patches without them manually being updated through steam. 4. Steam service running in the background consumes resources. Albeit small it still is taking processing power away. (If you are like me and want to minimalize any incoming and outgoing data or services this is horrible since I can not disable it.) Oh wait I can run it in offline mode. In offline Mode data is still sent. 5. For those who want complete non connection with their gaming pc from the internet they are ass out. I for one like to isolate one system from any access to the net. 6. This sets an ongoing precedent for invasion of privacy and collecting of demographics as a normal routine of purchases. Again if they would open us the consumer to a cut of this collection of data as steam makes a lot of money doing nothing but collecting and storing maybe I would be less hostile towards the system in place. 7. Convoluted Convoluted and more convoluted. Skyrim came out without the CK because they want to fully integrate it with steamworks which caused many modders to create a slew of alternatives to booting and optimizing the game. Game updates were forced and caused widespread issues in the early patches. Due to this bloat and alternative path it took longer to get he game running with optimization then if we had the ck no steam and normal drm. laa patch, dragon script, skse, steam, skyrim. all running in tandem caused some major confusing which could have been alleviated with a ck upfront and no steam. 8. More attention has been given making steam work properly than the game. We paid for the game and we are propping up steam freely. Ultimately we paid the shareholders then the guard (steam) then the publisher then the dev team. Hence guess what less money and time in the actual development arena. All I can say as of now is thank for crackers! This allows the game to be played without steam. And I hope when the CK comes out it is also cracked fast. Oh and guess what I did not pirate the game. Far from it. I love the TES games and always purchase them. You see it is one thing having drm and another having a demographics service monitoring my play habits and advertising to me. Some have become so absorbed into the ad world that they think it is normal. Hence future games will indeed have ads right inside of them probably pushed by a service like steam if not steam itself. It is a brilliant mechanism if you want to get good money simply pushing data around and hooking people into purchases but bottom line it takes away from privacy rights and the freedom to use what you won and purchased outright as you feel you wish to.

I have a MOD that allows me to create dragon arrows. It references daedric arrows to do so. When the arrow is in the world it is labeled daedric arrow not dragon arrow. What setting do I tweak and change for it to be named dragon arrow in the world? The only time this occurs is when the arrow is stuck in a wall or on the ground not in inventory. thanks

they definitely work with steam version. steam version is no different than any of the legit versions. make sure you have in docs>mygames>skyrim (skyrimprefs.ini) [Launcher] bEnableFileSelection=1 an essential line for using mods. if you are talking about the mod high quality maps with roads make sure also you do not have any of the mentioned ini changes in your skyrim.ini

why do we need the ck which will force us to open steam just to mod the game. skse, dragonscript, skyedit, other alternatives... I hope it takes them another month to release it because by then the community will have already made not only new functional game code that is far beyond the original we probably will ever see in a patch and tools that will be better than the ck. my opinion since the ck has been out in all beth titles on day one is that the only reason it is not released is so steam can be fully embedded and integrated into it... we dont really need more steam forced on us and the community has already fixed and optimized code fixed game bugs and even without the ck has models going. once skyedit and other alternatives get in and fully recognize the scrambled hex we are set without the ck.

take a look here: http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4929 high quality LODs and settings for the ini to remove blur. there is more links and info for even more improvements to the map as well.

I finally updated my game and started using skse. I also have dragon script. using it I notice my mouselook and even movement is much faster but it also suffers from some jerky hand movements and stutter during load. do I need a limiter now or some other tweaks. MY mouse acceleration is off due to lag in menus.

the map has no function to turn off or on markers as of yet. it will have to be modded in. I totally gutted my map and removed cave markers and tower and fort markers amongst others. I like you hate the clutter but I also hate instant updated map reducing true exploration to nill.

runicNomad posted a topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Trying to figure out what the best settings for cell buffer is for my pc? anyone got a heads up on that or have a link to a more detailed explanation of the skyrim.ini settings? Also what is iPreloadSizeLimit and fmasterpreloadmb setting? thanks -
try this setting in skyrim.ini under display: fNear1stPersonDistance=0.0000 will only work in first person mode if it works for you.

why is steam workshop bad.... it really isn't since it is not created or live yet. however... so far we have a game that forced us to use a online gaming demographics tool called steam... yes it has some functions for people but truly it was conceived steam that is to hook more people to buying games and tracking those habits. the other things it has done is secondary. so here we got steams workshop and well it already has changed the scene. the nexus had some serious and maybe ongoing discussions about modders making money and creating a way for that to happen. maybe its inevitable... however again the trend here with steam is things are forced. the ck will force us to use steam to load it which maybe then will have embedded hook which you can upload mods. so that makes it easier right to use it... well again steam is going to monitor what mods are uploaded and then will tailor ads for games and other pop ups in their service based on them. so a modder will make some cool mods upload them get a few cents maybe or get nothing and ultimately support a for profit company. hence where the issue comes from. 1. steam has been forced on us 2. steam is a for profit company which utilizes free traffic to garner profit models based on demographics. in a way theft without compensation. I think people often miss the large picture and the precedent set. less freedom less choices...
