Did you try to get the older version again and reinstalling the mods again and using some previous savegame? You can script the most important items back with console as well (http://www.mmo-game.eu/skyrim-item-link-creator/).

Is it happening for all weather conditions? I get Whiterun freezes during bad weather quite often because of weather mods - as I temprorary fix I use 'fw 81a' in console to change to clear wather.

I'm glad you were able to resolve the crash to desktop. As for character customization this is really subjective (if you want custom bodies as CBBE, tattoos, immersive armors or major perks overhaul for example) and probably outside of this thread. Do you use 'Realistic Ragdolls and Force' or some other mod that could overwrite the CBBE skeleton file? As exactly this happened to me when Ragdolls overwrote cbbe skeleton.

I would expect the Skyrim.esm and Update.esm to be ticked in NMM - do you have the correct folder set in NMM? Also can you paste your Loot output if you have any errors or warnings there?

Eventually it turned out it was the EDialog (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/19169/?) that was causing the issue (silly, I know). I forgot what it does and didn't consider it by looking at its name. I just hit it by accident when I was trying to find mods that affect head textures. Thanks Smoky for your help! Hopefully this will help the OP as well.

Thanks, that's a really good call. Will try to remove a little sexy apparel replacer mod (don't have estrus so we can rule that one out).

So sexchange command didn't help, I also tried to use both vanilla and modded racemenu and both were giving the red nose shadow for both male and female with different presets. I'll have to start removing relevant mods one by one to see if that helps.

Hi. Any luck with fixing this, fissqui? Appreciate it's quite some time the original issue was posted. I'm having the same issue and I'm trying to track down what may be causing it - I use Caliente and suspect it may be the racemenu. This is for my Breton and happens for various NPCs as well. I want to try following I found somewhere else so will let you know Also it seems to be much worse on direct sun and less noticable indoors so ENB may be another thing to check. Do you use Caliente, Showracemenu, hair mod and ENB/sweet FX of some sort? Trying to find out what mods we may have the same. Thanks.
