Skyrim NPCs don't have names, can't interact
VorrAkkagi replied to bolmeteus6's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
LOL, thank you both! I completely forgot about that 'feature' of the dark cowl. I had actually 'researched' it so I could add it to other armor head pieces and did so on my fur cowl. I'd been running around pulling my hair out trying to figure out why I could no longer talk to main NPCs!! =P -
Hi all, This isn't exactly a techsup questions, but still a problem. I haven't played FONV for almost a year. After an upgrade with a new HD, etc., I reinstalled the game and also bought and loaded the 5 DLCs that I hadn't purchased before (I had Old World Blues), started a new game and...Bob was waiting for me outside the Doc's place. Bob is dressed in BoSteel armor and when I talk with him, he just says, 'what do you want?'. My only options is something like, 'never mind'. He then follows me around, shooting and killing all the mobs I'm trying to kill to get the experience and level from. I can't dismiss him, have no idea where he came from and would really rather just shoot and kill him rather than have him steal all the exp. Can anyone tell me what mod he is from or how to get rid of him??? Thanks! Vorr EDIT: SOLVED - Vault 69 mod is the culprit...

Replaying Skyrim: Help me out with great gameplay mods.
VorrAkkagi replied to Rimarlk's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I second this!! I just loaded Requiem Dawnguard version and have been getting my keester kicked all over. But then, I'm also using Random Alternate Start, No starting spells and Skill Cap set to zero (forget the name of this mod). Start in a dungeon with no spells and no weapons and just a robe and normal boots. First things first - find a weapon, ANY weapon, and get out of the dungeon! Oh, and with Requiem, a good, new basic offensive spell costs around 1200 gold. So, you have to work for it if you go mage! Getting shot with an arrow is usually fatal, at least at low levels. I've just made it to 10th... -
Hi all, I'm just wondering if anyone has had this issue before: I had an old system that couldn't run any of the high-end texture upgrades, etc. So I was eventually able to change over to better equipment (3Dmark06 rates my system at over 27,000, so it's pretty good now). I reloaded Skyrim (complete uninstall, delete all info from the DATA directory, saves, skyrim.ini, etc. cleaned out any registry files I could find, removed utility programs, everything. Then reinstalled everything. Only now, old mods that I used to have working will not now. All seem to be NPC improvement mods - make NPC x look better, etc. I turn those on and it crashes to desktop. Is this a problem somehow with old improvement mods not being able to work with HD textures on characters, etc.??? Any thoughts?

Hi all, I've been puzzled over this for a while, and admittedly, I have a lot of mods (mostly NPC improvements). And my problem is likely with one of these. But I thought I'd ask here first before uninstalling and reinstalling the whole game =/ 1) No one sells me lumber. I've tried every lumber mill I can find. I've chopped wood for them. I've used the lumber mill itself for them. I'd dance a jig for them if they required it. But still no option to buy logs (other than the very first quest tutorial). I've tried clicking off the hearthfire.esm thinking to save without it, reload it, and start from scratch again, but CTD when I do so. First attempt was in Falkreath (sp?)... 2) ...so I went Morkath (or whatever it's called - the place with the vampire problems in the swamp), killed the vampires, gained Thane status and...no option to buy another place =( (that lumber mill didn't sell me any logs either). So, so far, Hearthfires (remarkably similar to the mod, 'build your own home' - did they just reverse engineer his mod and put their Bethesda stamp and art to it?), has taken up some of my time building - I got as far as the first little cottage part and the foundation and wall supports for the lodge before running out of lumber - and have spent literally several hours just running around lumber mill to lumber mill, chopping fire wood to gain favor, loading and unloading saves, trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. The only mod I have that I think might be doing it ill is UFO, multimarriage and spouses live anywhere. Any ideas?? Besides reinstall ??? Thanks!

Loading screen loads fine. I can get to the menu system. I can load a game. I can run around outside. But as soon as I try to go into a building, or into a cave, I puts me on a loading screen with the fog floating around, usually there is a 3d model of something and the text about it, etc. Then the area loads (building, cave, etc.). In my case, I get the fog but no 3D model or text. It just sits there. I have to press and hold down the power button to turn of the computer to get out of it. It's not a computer issue. I've run Skyrim before just fine. I've just reinstalled it on a clean registry (clean OS install as well). It is most likely a mod, but I've run just about all of these mods before just fine. Just wondering if it has anything to do with an update or something.

Hi all, I have this problem with trying to enter ANYTHING pretty much. Beginning tutorial, freeze when entering the room where you get your hands freed and grab a sword. Screen goes to the black screen with fog floating about and no text or anything else appears. Drive light churns for about 5 seconds, then nothing. Have to hard power off CPU to get out of it. I just reinstalled and added my favorite mods and a few new. Disabled those that might be suspect, but nothing. Updated drivers, verified file integrity. Same thing. I've tried the alternate start mod, run down to River with the 'camping in the wild' version of start and couldn't enter the tavern. Started in the tavern, could leave, but not enter again. What gives?????? Disable the Mod and tried a fresh new game, painfully sat through the intro ... yet again ... and had the above problem - couldn't go into the first building requiring loading. Any ideas? PC version.

Hi folks! Anyone have this problem and happen to know of a solution? I open a cupboard/dresser/cabinet and anything stacked on top goes flying around the room. Other rooms I simply open the door and everything goes flying. And as I walk in one of my houses, if I have a follower in there, I can hear things go flying in other rooms. I go look, and there are pots, pans, potions, etc. scattered all over. Anyone have a ghostbuster mod?? =P

Hi all, Just recently I started getting random bounties added for no apparent reason. In one instance I was running up a mountain in pursuit of a dragon I saw flying around up there, then a notice pops up saying that 5 bounty has been added to the orc stronghold faction. ??? This has been happening a lot, and now I go talk to an NPC and I get this 'get away from me!' and am attacked by a guard, have to let myself get killed, reload, then I can go back and do everything again - talk to the same NPC, etc., and there are no problems. I have only crafting, body, spell or armor mods loaded so nothing that should really work against NPC AI. I loaded one of the follower control mods, but uninstalled it and tried without that with the same results =/ Any ideas?

@tonepowers: I assume you have also DLed the appropriate CBBE bodies, etc. ? Also, there is an option (control + click create) which will place the newly created bodies in the body slider folder. You can then manually move those bodies to your skyrim/data/mesh/characters..../female folder. I'd give you the exact location but I can't get the game to reinstall and I don't remember it off hand. But check under your character folder under meshes and look for the female folder with the "femalebody_0" and "femalebody_1" files in it. Back them up (I create a folder right there called backup or something and move both files there for safe keeping). Then move the two newly created files into that folder. Also, if you do not have any clothing/armor mods that support the CBBE v3 body types, then you won't see any changes. If you kill a female, loot her of her armor or cloths and see if the naked body reflects the body type you created. @RB: Drag the complete Caliente Tools folder from the zip/RAR file anywhere on your system. It should automatically detect where your Skyrim has been installed. Then you SHOULD just have to double-click the 'BodySlide' application file. Hope this helps you both...

Reformating occurred to me this morning. It may be the next step.

I'm on a PC. The only non-Steam versions for PC are hacked versions, which would force me to delve into pirated software =( The other solution is to return the software, get my money back and stop buying games that require Steam overlording/big brother monitoring our systems =/

Doesn't work with XP =( My game just flickers rapidly between the desktop and the game. I cannot choose anything. But I've never sat for the 15 minute mark. I just assumed the game had... get ready for it... LOCKED ... (gasp! Not Skyrim!)... =P

Hi all, I'm at 'wits end' here. I thought to reinstall my game to wipe out all unknown problems (have been getting serious CTDs, can't approach/enter Solitude or go to other areas, etc. etc.). So start fresh. I uninstalled Skyrim and tried to reinstall but I just get this message that "The Steam servers are too busy to handle my request. Please try again in a few minutes". This is the third day that they have been too busy. I have deleted by hand everything I can find related to Skyrim (except for my DLed Mods kept in a separate folder to reinstall later). I have even gone into the registry and removed everything that says Skyrim. So it should be as if I have never installed Skyrim now. I have also tried the 'install from CD' method suggested at: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5357-FSQM-0382 This does not work either. It says 'Steam will now install the game' and then I get the busy signal again. I've left a 'ticket' with their support team and let them know I tried the above link method so they won't waste time on that, but no reply yet. Any ideas??? I'm getting serious Skyrim withdrawls... /me twitches

I had that same problem - crash at Solitude. I tried traveling by wagon... insta CTD. I tried walking from the Abandoned House and CTD when getting near the ships. What as the name of that NPC mod Hazard88? Now I have a different problem. I thought to reinstall Skyrim from scratch to clean everything up. Now, I cannot reinstall the game. I just keep getting the message that the servers are too busy to handle my 'request'. I've tried that method in the link that says to use 'run' "C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -install D: to install from the disk, but it doesn't install from the disk. It still tries to install from Steam =( No Skyrim for me =(
