  1. three things. 1. nice epic necro there, but true, bethesda did fix it quite nicely... except for james not surviving like the player character did. 2. this this thread was created before the expansions 3. my god. my previous posts are written so horribly. /ashamed at past-matt... self, i am dissapoint.
  2. right, i said this to simplywayne a little bit ago, but hes probly not online, so anyway, this is another option i thought of for applying the "randomness" to special encounters in Vegas: " oh, and another thing that might be worth investigating, was that in FO1+2, if im not mistaken, the survial stat, or whatever it was called, contributed quite a bit towards finding random special encounters, along with some perks. so it might be worth adding a few more random chance multiplier factors in this mod, if possible. oh, and as for another way to get the 'randomness' back into it, while still maintaining the .. otherplane-ness of the fallout addons, is have the events scripted to an NPC who randomly spawns given the multiplier and wildwasteland stuff, such as if wildwasteland = 1 and luck*10 + ( rand[survival] ) >= (set number, depending on rarity of items involved in said encounter) spawn [npc_bridge] for example, or [npc_cafe] talk to courier endif (i know, shitty code, but its the little ive done in my education) who then runs up to you upon spawn (theyr essential chars) and tells you about a place hes found "hey, youre that guy ive heard about that can beat anything.. i found this weird bridge guy who wont let me pass.. can you beat him for me? here, ill take you to him.." ->warp to world zone. npc waits in the corner.. or at the other end of the bridge for instance, and then after you finish, they go to an NPC bank kind of area so that you can replay it when you want. eg gas station at goodsprings. " i know its not that entirely thought out, but its a start, and might be somewhat much more manageable than having randomly loading worldspaces that would be painful to code, and most likely conflict with every mod that adds another worldspace. along with that, it keeps to the world of vegas, with random people running up to you "HEY THAT GUY ATTACKED ME! YOU SAW IT RIGHT?!" (like wtf, where did you come from, i was just shooting down prisoners from their crosses and you scare the s*** out of me)
  3. Oh and Fallout, while it is probly most based on MadMax, the movie Logan's Run has some amazing similarities: same time frame, vaults, giant experiementey kinda thing, crazy catloving people in Washington etc.. :P ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074812/ )
  4. I've been waiting for something like this for ever. It's ridiculously odd how Bethesda doesnt do it in the first place, a game that has all the aspects, and indeed tries to force you to act like a western cowboy (music, hats, weapons, perks, deserts, bars, cactuses....), but when it comes down to it, they dont give you any horribly mutated, 2 headed stallions that have horns out of their heads and brea..... ok, too far, but still, a mutated stallion or 50 wouldnt be out of the question, and neither would the good old highwayman from Fallout 2. :P Anyway, as the guy said, the brahmin already have similar horse-like animations, so, instead of copying animations and meshes from Oblivion, would recreating the brahmin meshes and animations be a problem/illegal?
  5. lol, i quit my boring mod attempt about 2months into it. the issue wasnt about mic's, i barely rememeber what it WAS about, but uhm, i rememeber a lot of problems, such as not being able to have 2 npcs in the same party, with the same chat options, triggers etc.. i made a second dogmeat, tried to make it look more.. stray, like original fallout, only one would follow at a time xD then i started having problems with npc routes and whatnot, then chats, linear conversations.... got an email alert just then from this page.. ... you necro-ed :P
  6. k dude, i had this problem for the entire day. and a bit of yesterday. i think i solved it, but it takes more work than id like, but imma lazy boy anyway, so anything not instantly gratifying pisses me off, anyhow onto the topic at hand: if u made a new npc u have to: *new name for char *make a new "voice" *new quest (this really is just all the chat things and is the easiest way to edit them) *new topics and conversation things. must stress that u edit text in QUEST i havnt got far with my mod, but ive got somewhere, check it out and play around with the quest and char (yeah theres only one at the moment): http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1703 what ur looking for in: quest: "cafeofbrokendreamsquest" npc: "setghoul" (as in Set from fallout 1) cellview: "cafeofbrokendreamsinterior" (you gotta scroll right a couple of times cos the map is way off to the right) voice type: "setvoice" hope this helps. i know a couple of people are going thru the hell i went thru.
  7. dammit, im having the same problem. trying to make about 10 or more new npc's, i thought making script would be easy, its all there, just copy add paste etc, but no, it crashes for me too.
  8. there is an outcase base its like north east of tenpenny tower, its one of those old military bases. its basically inbetween citadel and tenpenny. thats where they ask u to look for artefacts. dont know what tho, dont care.
  9. for people who only just got fallout 3 and cannot find fallout 1 or 2, dont act like u know the game, bethesda twisted the world, not much, but enough to make u not understand it by a long shot. for instance, another post someone was eluding to a supermutant master, if theyd actually played 1 or 2, youd know that ur char, or grandfather (respectivly) killed one of the supermutant masters, which incidentally was a overseer also. with fo3, being set even further into the future than fallout2 (harold the treeman is in all fallouts, but "bob" is only in 2 and 3, im quite sure) then there is another master, possibly to be releasd in an expansion. mutants (and ghouls :P) are people too, just really really angry green dudes that were mutated by fev. theyre slightly larger than normal people, but then, how did behemoths come around?
  10. oh and who actually bothers to use drugs in fallout. the only ones i use are radaway and buffout ONCE cos i had a lot of loot to fast travel with. radx is a joke. oh +25 resist. great where am i actually going to need it, if im going to swim, im going to get 1 a sec anyway, its not going lower. oh wait, mebe some ppl wanna use it b4 they drink out of the toilet bowel. sink is like 25 hp and 5rad, toilet is like 5hp and 25 rad. anyone care to explain why? how is it that feaces is radioactive? i know its bad, but honestly, if i was going to make drinking from the toilet bowel bad, put a poisoning effect in it, not more rads. :wallbash:
  11. lol yeah me 2. i played thru fallout 2 just before i bought fo3, couldnt be bothered doing the "oh im a recruit" at navaro, just strolled in with a bozar and 2000rounds (stolen, naturally) and leather armor. proceded to the nearest elevator, shot everyone. then ducked in and out the elevator (basically infinite ap XDDDD) killed everyone and all turrets, stole plans and chip, ran out, got on boat, armed warhead or w\e, blew up boat, finished the game... oh but wait... it didnt finish! no radiation from the oilrig killed me. no big bad boss could harm me with his crippled arms (yeah he just runs around following u like some fanboy) :whistling: and then u take a trip to new reno, get the fallout 2 guide off the priest who obviosly condones "shortcuts" etc. take a stroll up to gecko, talk to harold, yeah the one with the tree growing out of his head, only its a sapling, laugh at a couple of the funny random encounters (monty python holy grail stuff, star trek, cafe of broken dreams ~dogmeat lol, hitchhikers guide to the galaxy etc) and u know, lvl above 20, but rly becos of the perks every 3 lvls, its equivilant to 60, but still, its a capless game virtually. then u compare that to fo3, fo3, no humor, aside from moira being a total fool no after game extras, only a "hey u do reilise u char did die?" (i was expecting a "but it was not over for the vault dweller, he was hauled out of the radiation by the brotherhood, barely clinging to life.." or some such WEARING TESLA FOR CRYING OUT LOUD AND 10 POINTS ON ENDURANCE fawkes is an ass good ol' "im impervious to all forms of radiation, but still play dead" captain, commander, concierge w\e ur dad barely yells at u for blowing up a city (what a swell guy) star cross paladin looks like a man  really only 2 vaults are in good shape, and theyre storyline related theres more, but im tired and ur probly not reading. yeah sorry about that, but bethesda really botched up this game. they shouldnt have called it fallout. it was better than the ps2 fallout tho. that was shocking. oh but its not all bad, bethesda made the karma system actually do something. yeah! matt
