  1. I guess I spent to long taking a break from the geck... Anyone now what function / value you can call to get a return on the player's current level? I can pull the amount of XP the player has, but that isn't exactly what I need to do my calculations.
  2. I hope it has a better ending than KOTOR 2 did.
  3. no, but there are plenty of mods that add modern weapons to the game in addition to the weapons included.
  4. Don't worry about creating collision in your model unless it is something you plan on using a lot. In the geck you can create collision shapes. This is what I have done for things like my ICBM. You simply create a box that is the size of your model. I can't remember the actual button from the GECK UI, but just try out some of the options at the top. It is fairly simple once you do it once. If it is an object you plan on using a lot, you need to find a model in the game that has similar size and then use it as your import base.
  5. That is the way I was doing it, but it takes a massive amount of time. Maybe if you had all of like a dozen lines it would be doable. However I have a hundred lines. Between coping and renaming files, I just didn't want to spend that much time.
  6. I've been getting the urge to jump back into some Fallout 3, but before I do that... it is time to finish MERC 2. I did get a bit burned out because I was extremely ticked about the whole dialog/voice/lip stuff. There was no easy way to do it and I was tired of dropping hours after hours to get in voice dialog with lip movement. From what I can tell they still haven't fixed this option either. So I am moving past that. Just wanted to say Hi again.
  7. Considering the DLC was made free to PC users and all the FO3 ones cost... Dropping 10 bucks around every corner gets old.
  8. As far as a traveling source of entertainment, the laptop is a better idea. You can do so much more with it in the long run.
  9. I don't think the system is flawed. If there is a flaw, it is always human. I think of all the decisions that have been made since I've been old enough to understand them. There might only be a dozen that I may have agreed with. I know this is usually the same with most people I know. We all tend to share the same views and most every can grasp the logic in situations. So why does it seem like 90% of the things our government does is against the general will of the public? Just think of all the laws made in the last century... how many of those actually make sense? And out of those, how many did we actually need? There hasn't been a radical change that was positive in a long time. That's why we have only four presidents on Mount Rushmore. Yeah we can say there isn't enough room, but honestly? Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln.... we all know they kicked ass as leaders. Not literally in terms of war heroes, but their actions were world shaking and country altering... for the better. Roosevelt is my favorite. He seemed solid down the middle and didn't get pushed by back room politics. He shut down monopolies, built the Panama Canal, started conservation of wildlife and land, and got better conditions for workers. So no I do not have confidence in the elected. But I do have confidence in the American people... to survive.
  10. I wish there was money involved. If I had the ability to pay people then that would imply I was making money from the site already or just had enough to go around ;-) If it does get to the point it is profitable, then compensation will be something that happens. As for a submission form... yeah. We're trying to figure out what all we need. I'm working on the site now. Basically basing it off phpbb and tearing it apart to be structured like a website and not a forum. So essentially the backend will be like a forum, but the posts and "forums" will be viewed like web/blog pages. Eventually, I hope, we'll need a slew of people doing different things. We obviously want active people, but if we have people who might show up once a month and make a contribution as terms of a review... then that is fine. You get enough people like that and your doing fine. This post is mainly get out to the public. You never know when you might run into some like-minded people.
  11. I'm a fan of AoT. I'll see what I can do with it.
  12. We don't want to many people working in one subject, but we do want enough people so no one feels rushed to look something over. Different views are good. In the event we have multiple submissions that are good, I'd like to see the ability to post the most contradicting articles side by side. In the beginning there will not be enough people to do enough reviews per item to allow us to have contradicting posts, but I do hope that it develops into that.
  13. I'm trying to get some people together for a review website I am putting together. The website is www.mediareject.com and the name is simply Media Reject. I only have a simple logo up for the moment. I'm working on the layout and determining what back-end I will be using for the content. The large picture of the site is to offer input on any form of media that someone wants to write about. The main difference about this site is to offer a comical approach to review by picking out ignorant stuff about the game or media. We're not simply aiming to find bad media, but to take well appreciated media and find the flaws in that. A quick example of this would be my take on Mass Effect. I enjoyed the game and played it several times, but I'll be damned if all the elevator rides didn't make me want to dig my eyes out with a rusty spoon. I still want their to be some objective in the review such as providing a score for the media. Was the media worth the money? Would be buy it again knowing what we know? With that said, I'm looking for a number of people so we can cover a wide variety of media. Just with games alone we have different platforms and everything out there has tons of genres. In the long run I want people who are initially fans of that genre and platform to writing the reviews or rants about it. I naturally don't care for consoles since I prefer a keyboard and mouse, so I tend to be biased towards console games. For writers, I am looking for people who can be sarcastic and creative. I also need editors or people who can simply review the reviews and look for grammar and spelling errors. In addition to the editing, there will be a need for moderation (hopefully)... since I plan to implement a system to allow everyone to post articles/reviews to be published.
  14. Not really a quick question/answer thread... but regardless... 1. No, you still need to move the object slight above or below the other object. Say if your floor is at 600.0 and you have some paper on it you need the paper set to 600.5 to eliminate that flicker. Same goes for all things. I happens when two plans occupy the same location. 2. Not sure. 3. No option in the GECK. You can duplicate the item and it's NIF file. Using NifScope you can alter the scale on the x,y,z axis and save it.
  15. Looks good. BTW - Have you been trying to get a hold of me?
  16. The two hardest things... at least time consuming are creating the lib files if you want to do full dialog. AI packaging is just equally tedious, but requires thorough planning. If you want help, I can do it for you. We just need an exact plan of what you want. That way I can just jump in and get it done in a few days.
  17. 1. An obvious one would be incendiary grenades, which use thermite. Thermite is made from aluminum powder and iron oxide (rust). Considering there is plenty of rust in FO3. You could use tin cans for the grenade. 2. You see many traps in the game, but you can't make any aside from landmines. So a foot trap would be cool along with your own trip wires.
  18. I like the idea. I engineer firearms and parts for them. If you are looking for help, I could help conjure up some improvised weapons and what would work in theory.
  19. I can't believe the drama I missed out here. I can understand someone wanting to set facts straight, but only if there is a need for it. Like if I said I was a Navy Seal and I was lying, then someone should set the facts straight so no one is mislead. Skree never said that he was the best model making person around. I think he is good. Regardless of the issue if he may have just ported it over, he does have a wealth of knowledge about modeling. I have been picking his brain for over a month and he has always had the correct answer I need. There might have been other answers, but everything he has told me has worked. As far as quality and 100% original work, so long as someone is doing something that could improve my gameplay experience has my blessing. I don't have the facts, but I think Skree's goals are to create something awesome for the Fallout 3 world. Not trying to prove that he is master modeling magician. With that said, I think it is an efficient move if he used shortcuts. If he feels that cutting a few corners or taking a shortcut will get his mod out faster for all of us to enjoy, I think that is practical. Skree is trying to accomplish something for all of us to enjoy. Ragging him for any reason is only accomplishing something for yourself.
  20. Israel has my blessing. We should first worry about our own problems. Not those of someone else.
  21. Yes. You just open the item you want to work with and rename the id. This makes a clone of it and retains the original values. Then you alter the stuff you want in the new one. Then you can add that item to a container or loot list. Just search and you'll find the info on adding your item to the game. If you didn't plan on distributing the mod, you can just change the original and use it as is for your own purposes. Most people tend to avoid mods that replace stock items in the game, so it is best to clone it and make a unique version of said item.
  22. At the moment I am trying to get the MERC mod finished. I plan on releasing it at the first of March so I've got a big deadline. After I finish it though, I intend to start doing some intermediate and advance tutorials. With the mod finished and released, I will be basing my tutorials from in on how everything was accomplished. I also need to update the links again. I think we have a few more helpful posts floating around and I will try to get them up. If anyone finds good links outside of the nexus, please send them to me. I can't check all the sites and I know there are other places with similar content as the nexus.
  23. This is added to the list of links in the sticky post. Regardless, it is great that everyone is contributing. I've got a ton of scripts that I'll post from my mod once they are fully tested and optimized.
