  1. Hi, I've been having a CTD problem and I can't figure out what's causing it. It happens each time I enter an area northwest of Whiterun, near a small pond. I've been playing this game for around 30+ hours and only ran into one crash before (which happened when I started to mine ore.) I used saved game script scalpel to remove unattached instances and didn't experience any crashes after that until now. I'm using SKSE with the memory patch and my memory blocks log tells me it only gets up to around 320-350 before crashing so I don't think it's a memory problem? Not sure. Now papyrus logs have shown different things each time I've reproduced the crash but one thing I've seen that they all have in common seems to be "WidgetError" Reading around, some people said I may need to just rebuild bashed patch and skyproccer patches so I tried that and no luck. I've been playing with just a bashed patch because I read that you shouldn't use both merged and bash patches together but I've tried it with both merge+bash just to test and the same thing happens. LOOT tells me I don't have any load order issues but I know that's not always reliable. Here's my load order: I mainly tried to follow the guides on Realvision and RSE Requiem Survival Experience when installing things but I'm sure I probably screwed something up somewhere. So I thought I'd come here and see if it's something simple before I go screwing things up even more. Here are my INI's (Using presets that came with Realvision with a few tweaks) Skyrim.ini: SkyrimPrefs.ini: enblocal.ini: My system specs: i7 4790k, GTX 980 Ti, 32 GB ram, game installed on SSD (different ssd than OS, not on C:) Thank you in advance for taking a look.
  2. This is my first time playing Long War so I don't know if it's the final boss or not. It was the final boss in the vanilla game: when you use the gollop chamber, assault the mothership, and get to the room with the 3 ethereals. I have 16gb RAM and I've tried shutting down any other apps with game booster like you said, and the crash still happens. I am at the latest patch level for EW on Windows 7, playing the game through steam. The only mod I've installed is Long War 3.0 Beta 15b. I don't have Training Roulette on but I do have Commander's Choice, Hidden Potential and Red Fog. All it says is "XCOM enemy within has stopped working." It happens each time I take a shot at the boss (as soon as I press enter to confirm the attack) and it doesn't matter which unit I use or where I shoot from.
  3. Every time I try to shoot at the final boss the game crashes. I've tried rebooting the game in offline mode and I've tried making a different save and waiting a few turns to attack but every time I go to take the shot, it CTD's.
  4. The problem I ran into tonight was when I tried to go into the friendship metro. When I go in there I hear some ghouls growling and all I can see is black. I checked with Fo3edit and the RezDcLoadlast shows a few conflicts with FWE, unofficial fallout patch and DCinteriors. I've got RezDCSubwayLoadLast.esp last in the load order and RezDCSubway and metros alive esms at the bottom of my esms. Other than that, the game's been running pretty well today with the settings you suggested. Do you think I could possibly increase the audio safely to 8192 to further reduce stutters or is that too high?
  5. When you say to delete the file, which one are you talking about: The one from when I tried to save and it crashed or should I start a whole new playthrough? When it crashed the very first time I reverted back to a save that casm did about 3 saves back.

I may have messed things up with it for all I know. At the moment, I really don't care so much about textures and graphic quality if I have to sacrifice some of that for stability/performance.   7. Ok, I played for about 8 hours so far and I'm getting a decent framerate except it bogs down a bit in really big fights. I got my first crash today: It was after I died and right when the game was about to reload. I tried a purge cell buffers mod but that made me crash almost instantly so I uninstalled it.

Is that because the framerate is going too high in interior areas? If so, what should I tweak to fix that? I tried iFPSClamp 60 but that just made everything run at double speed.

  11. Ok, cool I will use that. Do non-Fose mods typically cause a lot of crashes or does it have more to do with my incompetent load order?
  12. Thanks so much for the replies, and sorry for being a noob. I'll try to do everything you guys suggest. I'm using BOSS 2.3.0 but apparently it's not working for me cause it says 0 errors. Is there a better program or updated version of boss I should get?   13. OK, so I had it working with no crashes for about 4 hours straight and thought I had it working good, then it started to crash. Now it's back to crashing pretty frequently so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've done the limit it to 2 cores thing. I'm using FOSE. I've enabled it to use 4gb. I have created a merge patch and run the MasterUpdate with Fo3Edit. I've tried running it in windows xp sp3 compatibility mode. I'm running it as administrator. I'm using gamecompanion for fake fullscreen. I've got archive invalidation invalidated. I've got all autosaves turned off and I'm using CASM. Every hour I do a hard manual save, exit the game and reload the save. I'm using a few mods that are supposed to help with CTD's.   14. Yes, that is correct. The problem started up after I tried to roll back the drivers. I am going to reinstall the game from scratch in another location and see if that fixes it. (Update) Looks like that's working so far, installed it to a different drive and deleted the ini files in my documents and now it will start up. :) Thanks a lot for the help. Now to just figure out what's causing the random crashes.
  15. I've been having a strange issue with my fallout 3. When I try to start the game in windowed mode, I get this error: "Failed to initialize renderer, windowed mode not supported by this adapter." The problem started when I tried to roll back my NVidia drivers. When I tried to roll them back, the device manager crashed and the problem started occurring. So I reinstalled the original up-to-date drivers, and the problem still happens. I've tried playing the game in fullscreen mode, and it does run. But fullscreen mode doesn't work very well for fallout 3 and I need to be able to run it in windowed to get it to run smoothly with all the mods I have. Before the rollback, the game was running at a good framerate with no stutters in windowed mode with gamecompanion but it was just CTD'ing like crazy (every 5 mins or so at random points). I tried verifying integrity of game cache to see if it was something wrong with .ini files. I've tried uninstalling and fresh installing graphics drivers. I've tried reinstalling directx. I've tried running it with and without mods enabled. Still the same problem. (P.S. Windowed mode DID work with New Vegas today when I tested it. Just fallout 3 is having this issue ATM. In the past I have run Fallout New Vegas on this PC with more than 150 mods with very little CTD for a nearly 200 hour playthrough.) If anyone has any ideas, It would be greatly appreciated. :) i5 cpu 750 @ 2.67 ghz 16 gb ram GTX 660 Windows 7 64 bit
