Female mod?
CFriis87 replied to derpy1997's topic in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's Discussion
If that's the case then there must be a game file that dictates the odds of getting female soldiers randomly... I want to change those odds. I just have to find the right file. -
What do you think should be "added" to make Fallout 3 better

TWINK! SHUUUUN! -
*grits teeth* I'm sure there will be soon enough if not already. *squints eyes angrily*

In lieu of that, though, hundreds/thousands of ferals with the current AI would be fun, too. ^.^ Of course, though I think the way Zombie survival is portrayed in the great tome of Zombie knowledge would fit in better with the post-nuke scavenger feel. Skulking around scavving for food and other basic necessities while trying to avoid the zombies altogether. Stopping at every turn to listen for the sound of uneven foot-steps or moaning or just the rustling of paper and other debris on the ground. The planning ahead of your trips along with several plans for escape and an unseen return to your safe-house in case a zombie spots you and all hell breaks lose. Not just shooting at any zombie you see because you know that everything in the area will hear the shot come scrambling your way. Again... soooo much work, but also a hell of a lot more atmosphere.

Yeah, it's a real book... and a pretty good one at that. One of the more important points in the book is that real Zombie survival is in no way, shape or form like what you see in movies. So what I meant with what I said is that if you were to make Zombie survival like it's described in the book, you'd need to give the AI a major overhauling.

One of the things that make this mod idea weird for me is that what with the size of the gun in the Resident Evil screens being pretty much spot on and the immense recoil it has despite the thing on the tip of the barrel, it would be impossible for anyone not wearing power armor or being a super mutant, firing it effectively (read: without falling over and severely hurting themselves) in any other position than the so far non-existent prone position is impossible. But since that's a mod that'll probably come around sometime (hopefully along with the iron sights mod), go ahead and knock yourselves out.

According to Max Brooks' Zombie Survival Guide, the hunting rifle, Lincoln's repeater and Sniper Rifles are actually the optimal weapons for this kind of game, but if you're going for the 28 days later typical Hollywood feel, then anything works. It'd probably be too much work on AI and game mechanics to make a true Zombie survival mod anyway.

I'v been trying a way to word this but you just took em out of my mouth. While I was happy that Beth updated the engine that you could blow of the head of an NPC you idd can't seem to make em lose limbs without killing them. Or losing a limb yourself ! so anyone who thinks he/she might be able to do this , please !!! well if anyone takes up this project but needs a moddeler I'd be glad to help , I can model ,and I think I can texture if I put the time in it. I can NOT rig poo at all. as for the limbs I might try some things out when I get back from work, I'm thinking my Zbrush might be more of a handy of remoddeling/adding seams , although I warn you that I'm more into organic moddeling. If it doesn't fit then I'll start something from scratch. I'll see what I can do, if I sucseed in something thats sharable I'll toss it up for use on the nexus. The reason that you can't blow off limbs without killing a person is because it's part of the death animations. I don't really mind that as that's how it was with the original games too. Having cybernetic limbs would be cool though, as having the cyborg feat without actually being a cyborg felt a little disappointing. Cybernetic limbs should give you bonuses a bit like the bobbleheads and change the look of your characters body, but they should also be able to fail and either get crippled or add various debilitating effects if not kept in good shape. Examples: Cybernetic eyes that change your HUD and help you spot enemies in the distance or dark and give you +1 Perception... maybe with night-vision, but if not kept in good condition you start getting static and flickering images after a while, if they fail completely you might go almost blind and will have to stumble back to your home without being able to se much, this would have course also disable quick-traveling. Cybernetic legs that let you run faster, jump higher and give you +1 endurance... when they start to fail they might start acting sporadically stepping in directions you didn't tell them to, and when it gets really bad they cease up completely and force you to go prone and use your arms to claw your way to a place that can repair you, again disabling quick-travel. Cybernetic brain implants that make you smarter and gives you more info and options when hacking terminals, like taking control of security turrets... as in you see what they see and aim and fire their guns. When it starts to fail you'll start seeing things that aren't there, like in the vault with the psyho-gas, when it starts getting really bad you will get blue screens of death and will be defenseless while your head reboots the Vault-tec OS Overseer Edition, then you'll have to get to a place where it can be repaired while in safe-mode, which will mean you can't use your brain's more advanced features like lock-picking and hacking... and everything is in black and white. Cybernetic arms and fists give you +1 strength and raise your unarmed damage by a huge amount, when they start failing you might accidentelly punch someone in the middle of a conversation, or your hand pulls the trigger of your weapon until you click the attack button to reclaim control. When really bad, your arms stop working completely and just hang lifeless at your sides, and the only attack you have is a weak "slap-attack" that you by by flailing your arms about with your upper body. That would be a very work intensive version of a cyborg-mod, but well worth the trouble in the end. -

Just some quick ideas for old school random encounters. Aperture Science vault with GlaDoS computer. Box Canyon with different colored Power Armored Red vs Blue guys... you know Church, Tex, Sarge, Caboose, Tucker, Griff, Simmons, Donut, Doc, Lopez and Shiela. A group of ghouls dancing to the Thriller (each user would have to add the song themselves though) Some crazy guy runs at you screaming "Aaaaargh the wanamingoes are after me!" and then runs away. Sometime after you find the Alien Blaster you meet two men in black suits, one of them holds something up that flashes brightly, and when the screen fades back the men and your Alien Blaster is gone. Another random encounter that could happen after that is that you run across the Men in Black base so you can go in there and retrieve your Alien Blaster, either by becoming an honorary member, or by slaughtering them all, or by sneaking in and stealing it. Add the fuzzy Elvis picture to the stuff at the UFO. Find the Café of broken dreams filled with Fallout fanboys in Vault 13 jumpsuits whining about everything they hate about Vanilla Fallout 3 and how much better the old games were. Run into a little brat of a kid with bare chest and a hockey mask who calls himself The Humungus and is armed with a scoped .44. Hmmm... that's all I can think of for now, give me some time and I'll add more to the list. -
Having a Browning .50 machine gun would be neat, too, though. ^.^ Not really, considering that either you'd be utterly starved for ammo to feed it, or there'd be so much .50 floating around that you could just use the Barrett through the whole damn game. True, there is that... but still, a whole bunch of the super mutants used these in Fallout: Tactics, and it fit well because it was a huge weapon but still common enough for a horde of green-skinned uglies to be wielding them. And who says it's a bad thing to be starved for ammo for a particular gun? This is post-nuke survival after all. Maybe you could make the M2 something you could find for your own little wasteland fortress... if someone makes a mod to build a sort of keep like in NWN2 that is.

A very expansive mod that let's you build a big boat from the parts of a crashed vertibird and assorted other scrap, and going on a quest out at sea in true Waterworld fashion, maybe get a mutation perk that allows you to breathe under water. Heck, you could even meet whoever have taken over the tanker from Fallout 2 after the descendant of the Vault Dweller was done with it and had returned his tribe to land. Maybe whoever took it over, hacked the computer to take them to Europe or Africa in stead of the floating debris of an oil-rig. Maybe the player could even follow them, or just find small settlements and an island out on the seas... again, just like in water world. The player would need to stock up his boat with plenty of food and drinkable water before setting off... and possibly take Wadsworth with him to be able to use the condensation collectors... maybe kill and disassemble Wadsworth to make a more effective condensation collector. Also put in true moral ambiguity, in stead of having to switch between evil and good to stay neutral. -
There's a simpler if not easier solution to the ammo problem for the Barret. Why not just make M2 machine guns for some of the super mutants? They had them in Fallout: Tactics. It uses the same ammo... and in considerably larger amounts. Oh and to completely solve the problem with super mutants holding tiny guns, I'd say give the plasma and laser rifles back their original designs and sizes. I'm not sure why Bethesda made plasma weapons exclusive to the Enclave anyway... plasma weapons were in the Fallout games before even the Enclave was.
