  1. I think my testing has revealed that my computer really is to blame. I started with STEP Core & REGS, then kept adding to my load order slowly. Once it started giving me problems, I tried to fool around with different combination, but my results were inconsistent. No one particular mod seems to be causing it. I've disabled the majority of additional content and seem to be running well.
  2. @ Lord Garon - I get what you are saying. I've just tried playing with only STEP Core and REGS mods active. I had one freeze on my way to Markarth (using the same testing method as above), but the next time I tried it worked flawlessly. I'll keep piling the mods on and see when it breaks. One thing I noticed was that I was missing the REGS - RRR/NSutR patch, furthering my belief that no one actually reads load orders when I post them, though who could expect them to? On another, unrelated note, when I coc into Riverwood (or anywhere), the default guy has a grey face. Am I right in assuming that this has something to do with my cosmetic mods being in an improper priority order?
  3. @Little Vampire: I have cleaned update.esm. That was my mistake. What I meant to say was that I hadn't cleaned Skyrim.esm/unofficial patches. I've updated my original post to reflect this. And yes, I know not to remove mods from an active playthrough. All tests were conducted on fresh characters; see my previous post.
  4. Okay, so I've been painstakingly adding mods one at a time, not using any of my merged mods (just the individual originals), making merged/bashed patches, and stress testing. My method was to use "coc riverwood" at the main menu, setting my speed to 1000 and turning on god mode, and running circuits. I ran from Riverwood to the W side of Falkreath, around to the E side, through the town, then up to and into Morthal, then back out again. I'd jump off the cliff outside Broken Tower Redoubt and make my way into Solitude and back out again, then through Morthal and Dawnstar. There I would use the carriage to take me to Windhelm. I'd run around inside for a bit then go back out and make my way to Winterhold. Everything was going fine until I added ETaC. Afterwards I started getting ILS leaving Markarth. Here is the load order: It's basically the same thing as before, sans Inconsequential NPCs, TPoS, SIC + HLE, Deadly Dragons, and a couple housing mods. Am I just going to have to abandon ETaC? Could it maybe not be just ETaC, but an interaction it's having with another mod?
  5. I don't use DSR/FNIS/ASIS while testing, because repatching each time is a pain enough already, what with me using TES5Edit and Wrye Bash. Yes, TES5Edit loads all of the above mods without error messages. It takes forever, but that's to be expected. My copy of Windows thinks that it's pirated and won't accept my old key. Because of this, it likes to pull me out of whatever I am doing to warn me that I might be a victim. With Skyrim Performance Monitor in use, this causes me to CTD upon bringing the focus back to Skyrim. These CTD's are unrelated to the crashes this thread is dedicated to solving. I haven't tried BOSS with this setup yet, just LOOT.
  6. I've used the Memory Blocks Log and Skyrim Performance Monitor in the past and ruled out memory related crashes. Also, I can Riverwood to Winterhold or from Riften to Winterhold; I'll still crash in the same place. That tells me that it's not memory related. As for the Invalidation.bsa, it is in my data folder. It's last modified date is different than the rest of the files, so I'm assuming that Mod Organizer added it for me. In MO's profile manager Automatic Archive Invalidation is unchecked. Should I disable that .bsa? EDIT: Disabling "Skyrim - Invalidation.bsa" made no difference.
  7. Nope, those are no better; still crashing all over the place. My ini's are based off of fresh Skyrim ini's @ ultra settings and they run just fine. Your high & ultra setting ini's both ate frames for breakfast. Maybe, considering that most crashes happen around settlements, I am having ETaC compatibility issues? My MERGED ETaC Patches file contains the ELFX, LoS, BFT, NSutR, and Millwater Retreat patches.
  8. I, too, have heard before that ini edits are imperative for stability, though it was in the context of "many stability issues can be tracked down to faulty ini edits." I have followed STEP/ENBoost guides to the letter regarding ini edits. Because of those guides I knew what exactly I was changing and why. I am reluctant to just blindly throw away those ini's and blindly use some pre-fab ini without knowing what is going on. Here are the ini's I am currently using: Skyrim.ini SkyrimPrefs.ini I'll be a good sport and give yours a try, but I'll admit I'm apprehensive.
  9. Testing Results: 1) Loaded game outside of Riften, went in and out of Riften, ran super-speed to Windhelm and didn't crash on the bridge lookking out over the Argonian shacks, ran towards Winterhold and CTD'd. 2) Loaded game outside of Falkreath, ran through the middle of town a few times, ran out of town a ways and back through it, took a carriage to Solitude, and CTD'd during the carriage's loadscreen to Windhelm. 3) Loaded game inside Riverwood, ran SE across the river towards Anise's Cabin and CTD'd. While increasing the size of the first memory block has helped, it's not the solution I was looking for, nor was I expecting it to be. Things looked fine in the Memory Blocks Log and in Skyrim Performance Monitor; i.e. while my system is meager, I didn't seem to be experiencing any related problems.
  10. This. I checked there and found the .ini. Here are it's contents: Per the video I changed the first value to 768. Testing nao.
  11. Hmm. I know I did at one point, but I've tried a lot of crazy troubleshooting since then. Where is the SKSE.ini file located? I don't see a "skse.ini" in the skyrim folder, nor in the SKSE .7zip.
  12. I was under the impression that it was included in SKSE v1.7.0. I use SKSE 1.7.1 and ENBoost.
  13. I've started troubleshooting by making circuits of the cities. Here are the problem areas I've discovered so far: CTD's mid- Falkreath FLS/ILS loading a save outside Falkreath CTD's outside Windhelm ILS loading a save outside Windhelm (near the hunter's camp) FLS/ILS leaving Riften FLS/ILS leaving Markarth FLS/ILS loading a save outside Markarth CTD near Winterhold, coming from Windhelm ILS using the carriage Freeze outside Solitude ILS loading a save well outside Solitude
  14. I've been working on this for months now. I've narrowed my mod list down far more than I've ever wanted to. I've followed STEP guides (STEP/REGS/MMO) as best as a could (w/ some omissions due to a weak computer, some due to personal taste), but seeing as how I'm not and cannot follow them to the exact letter, their compatibility patches aren't suited for me. I keep trying new load orders, enabling and disabling mods in small batches. I make TES5Edit merge patches & bashed patches for every build at the expense of the majority of my free time. After all this, I'm still getting CTDs in exteriors, CTDs on dying & reloading, frozen load screens, infinite load screens, not to mention migraines. Apparently load screen problems are due to asking the engine to load up too much at once, but I feel that I've pared back so much that the load should be light enough for my modest rig. I've cleaned all my mods (except Skyrim.esm/unofficial patches) and I've used both BOSS & LOOT to order them. I've tried looking at mods in small groups and all together in TES5Edit, and with all kinds of filters, but due to a lack of resources it's nearly all Greek to me. I just feel like it shouldn't be this hard. Can anyone offer some assistance? Most of my mods are mainstream, tried-and-true mods; I feel like I'm only using a few obscure mods. I checked today and they're all up to date. Here's my current modlist: (Note: I've disabled SIC's additional spawns and respawn randomizer) Here's a breakdown of my merged mods: As for what's not included in the load order, there's not much (at least nothing of the same magnitude as the aMidianBorn pack): Any help would be greatly appreciated. If any more information is needed I'll be happy to supply it.
  15. I'm trying to access the forums to send a message; I somehow just can't wrap my head around modgroups.
