  1. Really can't tell you how incredibly easy it is to use the RaceMenu version - Thanks for pointing this out, as it makes the other mod completely pointless and redundant. Now to get started making a character... no no I don't... I need to learn Wrye Bash first, then character creation!
  2. I've often wondered if I needed to get into using Wrye Bash - it always seemed such a daunting task. Looking over the page for it, it seems somewhat easier than I imagined, and it doesn't seem to conflict with using NMM (which I'd always falsely assumed). This could be the start of a beautiful new era of good mod choices et al. Thanks muchly. Not so sure where to go with this - might just wait till some of the mods are more properly supported, but after the basic SKSE update fix, the game itself seems to otherwise work, I think my greater problem is, as you described, the different mods that have similar functions overriding each other. If/when I can figure out TES5Edit, I'll be looking into contacting BOSS - I'd love to help with their load orders, seeing as how they're over 3500 mods behind. Also, if I *can* figure out TES5Edit, I do believe I shall get into modding, as the coding side of things seems the most daunting task for me. I do a LOT of dos batch scripting, but only because I've done it for years. Learning the commands of a new language might be fun, but it seems huge ATM. But thank you for your suggestions, and your encouragement (or lack of "you're doing it wrong" mentality, I suppose). Now to tell myself I *NEED* to learn to use Wrye Bash before I really get into creating my character and playing the game.
  3. I cannot believe I didn't realize I was on an older version - I've been reading and rereading racemenu and it didn't dawn on me... yeesh. Apparently don't need the Extended Slider Colors because RaceMenu does the same thing without the need for huge palettes :)
  4. I've been slowly adding mods to the game with no actual save game to start off with. I will be starting this game fresh, and I've managed to get all mods working, save 2. Extended Slider Colors first and foremost, just does not seem to do anything, apparently conflicting with one or more mods in my setup and I can't determine which. I thought it was Character Creation Overhaul, but I've changed the load order all around and nothing has changed ESC to get it to work. I then turned off CCO, and ESC still doesn't seem to have an affect. As of this point, I can't seem to determine what causes the problem. Secondly, I just found out about RaceMenu and would LOVE to have it working (as it looks like it will help me tweak the character to the exact look that I want), but with that enabled, Skyrim CTDs as soon as I attempt to start a new game (or load an existing one for that matter). That being said, I am completely up to date on Skyrim. It's currently at version 1.8.151.0.7 which is the latest listed online. I do also have the latest listed version of SKSE, 1.6.5 rel 33, and I am starting the game with skse_launcher.exe The mods I have, in their order based on BOSS: Those are the recognized plugins, these are the unrecognized plugins - they are all at the bottom of the load order: As a matter of reference, I only have Alternate Start loading so that I can check functionality with the two mods. With RaceMenu active, it CTDs almost immediately after I try to start a new game (click New Game then click Yes). Without it, I can get in and play the game well, just cannot use Extended Slider Colors. Thanks for taking the time to read through this and puzzle about it. Any and all help is appreciated.
  5. Okay, to add to this. When I restart the computer, the game will load fully in (without ThuumMic) and play for a little while. Alt-tabbing in and out of the game several times did not seem to hurt the stability. I played like this for about 15-20 minutes switching back and forth. Then I switched out of the game, switched back in halfway (I switch out by alt-tabbing, then alt-tab back to the game, I have to click at the top right of the screen, then somewhere in the middle, and suddenly it switches back to the game properly), where I didn't do the whole mouse button back into the game, then I switched back out, and it crashed, Then it wouldn't load again. I restarted the computer, and it loads like it did before. This was all done without ThuumMic running (it's still installed).
  6. I installed a few mods the other day and have been having crashes almost every single time I load Skyrim, right after the Skyrim logo, before I even get a menu up. I removed the mods that I'd added and still had crashes repeatedly (perhaps I missed one - I can't figure it out). So I completely removed all the mods, and my save game wouldn't work, crashed during loading of the save game. I started a new game, and things seemed to work fine. But after a few minutes (shortly after character creation - with no mods - at least all mods were turned off in NMM), CTD again. I uninstalled Skyrim, and let it reload overnight (after completely wiping the Steam/Steamapps folder of the skyrim folder). Started again, played like a champ. SO, I loaded up NMM again, and started adding mods, one by one, through NMM. got all the mods loaded that I wanted (I skipped a few that seemed more useless to me now), loaded it up, continued my save game, and everything worked perfectly fine for about half an hour, then I quit back to the desktop (normal behavior - no CTD at this point). I realized I hadn't installed ThuumMic again, so I installed that, and started up Skyrim (without it started) and it worked fine again, so quit back to desktop. Started up ThuumMic, then insta-CTD again right after the skyrim logo. Turned off ThuumMic, and still CTD... uninstalled ThuumMic, and removed all files that got installed with it, and still CTD after skyrim logo. I even turned off UFO (ThuumMic purportedly has issues with it, but none that should cause CTD). So I'm stuck. Which mod(s) are causing the problem here. Any help would be appreciated. My current mods, in load order are: Btw, I use BOSS to change load order on everything, but it doesn't recognize the last 5 mods (from Better Sleep down), so they're loaded last by default. None seem to have issues with other mods (at least no mods that I'm using, so I don't think they're at fault).
  7. The problem is, programs like xpadder can't get Skyrim to use one or both analog joysticks AND keyboard and mouse. It effectively does the same thing as the G13 software by emulating keypresses with the joysticks so that you can press up on the joystick and it sends the signal W to the game, left sends A, right sends D, and down sends S. This does not allow for smooth use of the joystick by any stretch, and instead, makes devices like the G13 a relatively useless device (specifically because the keyboard has more keys and the G13 really doesn't do anything more without the use of its analog joystick). There are plenty of players who've mentioned they want to use one of the 360's joysticks and the mouse for motion and viewing, etc... nothing, so far, does this at all, let alone adequately. And realistically, in the end, we still need a completely revamped keybinding system that is controlled entirely within Skyrim itself. Also, consider, this should allow control of audio WHILE in the game. It's sad how limited Bethesda decided to make the control system in Skyrim (thank you console port). But very good point on the program itself, this will definitely help other users, but like so many other mods, it's not the end result that is needed, just a good patch to the painful wound that is the Skyrim control system.
  8. After a lot of thought on the subject (while searching the Creation Kit and google a lot) I think this mod, while a good idea, is far too underreaching for what it could/should be. There are so many issues people have with the keybinding system in the game that, realistically, the entire thing needs to be revamped. I'm not exactly sure where to start with it, but I thought that if my only goal were the above mod, then a lot of work might be done in the wrong direction to create a mod that only does half of what it should. What this mod should do in the end: Allow people to change keybinds to any button on the keyboard, mouse, or any plugged in joystick. Allow people to use analog joysticks, keyboards, and mice, together (i.e. no restrictions, just accept all forms of input) Do all of this within the Skyrim program, as if it was built in. This might be acceptable even if done through a book mod, or a summonable NPC, but it should overwrite the actual UI (similar to how SkyUI works). Now there are a lot of mods out there that do a damn good job of some of this stuff, but none that do it just right (360 key enabler is awesome, but, once again, needs to be in the interface, and doesn't address mice. Interface Hardcoded Key tweaks takes it a step further with full keybind capabilities, but once again is outside of skyrim itself). considering SkyUI uses SKSE heavily, i'm going to start to delve into that to see if i can get somewhere... dunno how, as I've never dealt with this before, but I'm not giving up on this very needed mod.
  9. This is both a request for the mod, as well as a request for any information that someone might have to help create one. I don't mind getting my hands dirty on this one if I can figure it out, but I'm starting out at scratch, and I've busted through the individual files of seemingly similar mods with little success, so I'm really starting kind of day one here with this idea. Basically: I've got a G13 and I've got it working with the joystick in analog mode in Skyrim, BUT, it completely removes mouse support (which breaks the game for me, really), and I've seen others saying they'd like to be able to use the left joystick of an Xbox 360 controller with the mouse for look. Unfortunately, Bethesda looks poised to NEVER WANT TO DO THIS SIMPLE THING, so it's up to us/you/whoever modders to implement this very idea. For info on how to get Skyrim working with the G13 as described above: This is just a first couple of steps. I've managed to get the controller working in game, but at a cost of other things, however, perhaps one of you can have better luck?Step 1 is to get the joystick working AS a joystick. Open the Logitech Gaming Software, click the G button at the bottom of the window, select the Skyrim profile, then click on any of the four direction arrows surrounding the joystick (the down arrow that appears over the directional arrows), then click "Assign Joystick." To be sure this has worked correctly (if you're running Windows 7) Click Start -> Control Panel -> Devices and Printers, then right click on the Logitech G13 (or if not listed as such, just right click on "HID-compliant game controller", then click "Game controller settings." Make sure "Logitech G13 Joystick" is selected, then click "Properties" and move the joystick around. You should see the crosshairs move in the window that pops up. Next, click the link below: Analog Joystick in Skyrim The link above is to get another controller, the Logitech Rumblepad 2, working in Skyrim. It does this, as far as I can tell, by emulating the Xbox 360 controller using the Rumblepad 2. The problem is, in game it removes mouse usability, as well as most buttons on the keyboard (which is what most of the keys are on the G13 - but it gets the joystick working in game. If anyone else has any ideas on how to get this working, I'm game, as I would LOVE to have full analog control over my walking in the game (and free up the walking button to boot).
  10. It was probably a bad idea for me to resurrect this thread, but I thought as noone else had brought up the G13, I might as well post it here. I don't know if their other issues were resolved, but the last post they made was in December.
  11. I have found the beginnings of a workaround for the G13's Analog stick in Skyrim. I got the stick working, but it causes a lot of other problems. Step 1 is to get the joystick working AS a joystick. Open the Logitech Gaming Software, click the G button at the bottom of the window, select the Skyrim profile, then click on any of the four direction arrows surrounding the joystick (the down arrow that appears over the directional arrows), then click "Assign Joystick."To be sure this has worked correctly (if you're running Windows 7) Click Start -> Control Panel -> Devices and Printers, then right click on the Logitech G13 (or if not listed as such, just right click on "HID-compliant game controller", then click "Game controller settings." 12. Okay, problem seems to have been resolved now. If so, it was Warzones - I completely turned it off, then removed it, but the characters were still attacking me. So I started reading through the comments in Warzones and, though I never really saw a solution, I did notice Warzones talking about doing a "clean install" which was to turn all mods off, then wait for three days, saving throughout, etc.. So I decided to use the same philosophy for a "clean" removal. Basically, went into a small indoor space, and slept for 3 days (no small task thanks to Total Realism - heh). Finally went back to Riverwood and no attacks, so all is well, though I have experienced one solid crash (requiring a complete shutdown of the PC and restart - no CTD, just totally froze up, except the sounds). Anyways, things are working again, but it makes me wonder what the problem with Warzones is, as the developer swears its not *HIS* mod that causes breakages... maybe I accidentally hit someone from the wrong faction in one of the wars? who knows.
  13. I just tried that, loaded an earlier save point, close to Riverwood (before being attacked by any of the major characters), and I still got attacked. I do like that mod, at least what I've seen of it. I'd hate to see it go, but other mods are certainly more important to me than that one. Is there a console command where I can reduce everyone's aggression to me so I can retest this? Thanks very much for the very fast reply, btw :)
  14. I've been adding mods upon mods trying to add a healthy level of realism to the game (some visual - mostly lore or reality based). I just updated a couple of mods as well, and suddenly, going back to Riverwood, everyone in Riverwood is attacking me. Ran off to Whiterun, and noone messed with me until I got to Dragonreach, went inside and the guards didn't care, but all the main characters suddenly attacked me. It seems like plot based characters suddenly hate me. At this point, I don't know what mod caused it, or if it was one of the few updates I did, as I've been running through dungeons for a bit. My list of mods is as follows: I also have both SKSE and the scripting engine for iHUD I just upgraded Scenic Carriages, from 0.2 to 0.4RC and UFO from 1.2 to 1.2a. Also, using UFO I added a couple of Whiterun Guards before heading into some dungeons for extra protection. I was also using Necromancer's Robes at one point to help with restoring magicka. I've tried dismissing the whiterun guards, and removing and even dropping the robes, and any stolen merchandise that I had, all well away from civilization, and I still get attacked. Only other thing I think it might be related to is the Fight or Fly mod, as most times I get attacked, after a bit of fighting, they stop fighting and "surrender", which I usually replied to by killing them (if I don't, and let them heal a bit, they attack again, until I drop their life back down to next to dead and they stop attacking again). As a result, it says I have a bunch of assaults on my record but no crimes committed or bounties placed, so I don't really know what's happening at this point.
