  1. I had a feeling MMM was the culprit. Thank you for the advice I will try it right away. The NASA Mars program thing is hilarious  Edit: That did it.
  2. My modded FO3 regularly crashes in combat when I shoot someone. Sometimes I can play for an hour or so but sometimes it crashes after 10 minutes when shooting someone. I have the Multicore CPU fix, enabled 4GB memory usage via CFF Explorer, the Stutter Remover, and I play in windowed mode using OneTweak. I got the GOTY version from Steam. My system is: AMD FX-8320 3,5 GHz Sapphire HD6790 1GB Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1866 MHz memory Gigabyte 970A-UD3 Windows 7 64bit My load order is as follows: I also use NMC's Perfomance texture pack. I noticed that it tends to crash more when shooting Talon Company or Super Mutants but it crashes with Raiders and such too so I'm clueless. I suspect it's a load order problem or an incompatibility I just can't figure it out. Any help is appreciated. Cheers!
  3. Strictly speaking, if you come close enough that the texture takes e.g. 10 of your screens, you will see the difference. Happens all the time in games when you jam your nose into a wall. I wish they finally brought back the classic solution of detail textures for that, or, better, used procedurally generated detail textures (i.e. random surface roughness). But, while at the question pf 2K vs 4K, I'm yet to see 4K textures come from a mod that look much different from their 2K versions. There simply isn't enough high frequency data in digital camera output to fill up that resolution. Yes you do see the difference from close up but i personally don't pay much attention to the texture resolution while playing. Of course I notice/don't like them to be too low res but I don't see the point of 4K on a regular 19"-22" monitor (which I own too). It would look damn good on a great big TV though :) I tend to leave as much resources as possible for mods and squeeze every last bit of performance out of it :)
  4. I recently started playing Dawnguard with the Dawnbreaker. When I kill vampires, draugr or any undead Serana freaks out and starts running because of the Turn Undead effect on the Dawnbreaker. Is there any way to turn it off just for her? Are there any mods for this? If none of the above is possible can I turn the the whole Turn Undead effect off and have just the explosion? I'd like to use the sword and have Serana since I like both but it doesn't seem possible yet. BTW I am using the DaedricDawbreaker mod (the NoStagger version).
  5. I am currently in Forgotten Vale and when I step into the are marked below I get a CTD. It is an old save (level 50+) and it's been some time since I played it. I removed, added and installed several mods during the playthrough so I think there is a good chance that my savegames are corrupted but it would be nice not having to start over again. I tried using TCL to get to the wayshrines without success. Here is the picture mentioned: And my load order: Everything is sorted by BOSS I have no idea why they appeared like this in the modlist.txt.Hope someone can tell if I really did corrupt my saves or it's a mod problem. One more thing I can't load old saves it crashes. It kinda makes it obvious but I don't want to give up my hopes. Have a nice day!
  6. I agree with Werne 4K textures are completely pointless unless you have a 4K monitor. Hell in some games they even have jagged edges. As for me I can barely notice the difference between 1K and 2K textures so it's even more pointless. Plus it only takes up precious resources that could be used for running an ENB for example. On my 19" screen it is even less noticeable so I think I will stick with 1K unless I can really see a difference. I believe there is a lite version for the Skyrim 2K textures mod. Rennn is Distant Detail really a performance hog? The mod author says it only has a minor(1-2 FPS) performance drop.
  7. Yes I have only heard good things about them. obobski - Here is my New Vegas load order(pretty much identical to the one Gopher uses in his current playthrough since I was too lazy to look for mods myself ) And here is my Skyrim (it might be a bit outdated because I haven't played it for some time because of the terrible performance) The ones that are aligned left with dashes are unchecked in NMM. Hope it's not too bad .
  8. My 6790 is ancient . The prices are pretty mixed up in Hungary too. For example a 270X costs around $290-$300 whereas the 7870 is about $270-$280(the latter is a bit hard to come around). The 290X ranges from $750 to $840, a 290 is about $620. As for the 280X you can only get the Asus Maximus version which has a ridiculous price of $960. Prices are damn crazy in terms Nvidia too. A 760 is about $340(you even get Assassins Creed IV with the Gigabyte version) a 660 goes for $420. 780s can be found from $650 to $715. A 780Ti is about $925. A 690 costs $1220 and Titans range from $1275 to $1300. As I said: import taxes . By the way since I live in Hungary these are the prices that apply to me because Newegg, Amazon or such sites don't ship here. I am pretty sure I will be getting a 270X because that 10-30 dollar difference is not that much. obobski I could upload my load order(Skyrim and New vegas) for you to look through if you wish. I would be grateful if someone with the decent expertise could tell me if I have issues(I'm sure I do) maybe even tell me how to fix them.
  9. I was looking at the 4GB Gigabyte version: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125496 It is only a few bucks more expensive than the 2GB one so I really don't see any reason not to get that. The 4GB MSI version is a potential candidate too.
  10. Guys I am running a 6790 not a 6970  . By the way my mobo does support Dual UEFI so I should not have any problems with that. Getting the 270X in my country is no big deal because it's very popular due to its lower price. You could also find the 290X but not the 280X here which is kinda odd.
  11. I'm glad that my research wasn't a waste of time. I am going to get it as soon as I can. As for the GTX 760 I was considering buying that card as well but the import taxes in my country are so high it's about 20% more expensive (no idea why). The reason for the 4GB one is that it only costs more by about $3 than the 2GB one which is completely negligible(plus some HD textures would be cool ). Overclocking the CPU is definitely something I will do once I get a watercooling setup. Thank you for the help.
  12. I currently have a fairly good system with one exepction: the graphics card. The poor old bastard can't handle my games as I would like so I decided to upgrade. Here is my current system: AMD FX 8320 3.5 GHz processor Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB 1866 MHz memory Gigabyte 970A-UD3 motherboard Sapphire HD6790 1GB GDDR5 Chieftec 500W PSU Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB HDD I mostly use it for modded Skyrim/Fallout as the title suggests. I have over 100 plugins for each game(about 130 for Skyrim, 110 for New Vegas and around 100 for FO3) and I am sure you can tell it stutters. I have several visual mods but no major texture overhauls or such(it would be nice to have some though). I play in 1440x900 I am thinking a Gigabyte R9 270X OC 4GB would be a decent choice but I am not completely sure. The price of the R9 270X is kind of the top of my budget but I could invest a little more if needed. Let me know what you think, should I get it or dump the idea and save up some more?
  13. I have this weird bug with the mods mentioned above. One weapon has messed up textures and meshes. I fix it, then another gets bugged. First That Gun was buggy (didn't have the new textures) Now it's the 357 Magnum. As you can see the textures are vanilla and my character's hands seem to be missing. Here is my complete load order. The last one on the list is a Merged Patch. I really hope somebody can help me with this issue. Thank you in advance.
