I know how you feel. I've been having the same problem and I've been working on the same mod for the last 3 days. I just realized how old this post is. Maybe there will be a better solution for this by now. I hope. May just quit on modding Skyrim if it's gonna be this much of a headache.

I just downloaded and installed Oblivion from Direct 2 Drive, All that's left is to activate the game. When I click on Play in the launcher an activation popup comes up to connect to the internet or select already connected. No matter which one I choose, it says "unable to connect to the internet". I've added Oblivion and Direct 2 Drive to the exceptions list. I play Fallout 3 just fine, so I know my system specs are fine. I don't know what to do. If anyone can help. Please do. $34.99 could have gone somewhere other than a game I can't play. Thank you.
