Morrowind Overhaul, or manual selection of mods?

I was wondering what people recommend to someone who does not have extensive knowledge of Morrowind mods (beyond really key ones like the code patch and better bodies. Should I use the Morrowind Overhaul package, which is pretty well install and go, or should I make my own selection of mods (perhaps a more limited selection)?

I just tried installing the Morrowind Overhaul and making a new game, but find myself running at 20 FPS (I run modded Skyrim at 35 FPS). Does the overhaul perhaps do too much? I could remove it and manually install a smaller selection of mods, but should I expect a similar outcome (perhaps for a less refined final result)?

I would manually install mods I have completed morrowind and its dlcs's using this morrowind overhaul package and its pretty bugged it stops cave dwelling doors working in Gnisis and when u go to solstheim u get CTD in certain snow areas due to missing texture/mesh files. There were numerous other bugs I encountered too lol

Use MGSO v 3.0 Temporary Patch 5 by john.moonsugar. to correct many errors until Kingpix updates MGSO.

I'm in my second playthrouh with MGSO without any problems.

Also your low FPS is most probably because morrowind is designed to run only with single core. So it always underperforms.

Try lowering Distant Land cells to 5 or lower. Its the biggest drain.

Also lower Anti-aliasing and Anisotropic filtering level.

You can modify MGE settings from MGEXEgui.exe present in the folder where your morrowind.exe lies.
