Not sure what to do now.

I just added fook2 to my game. The first time I installed it, I was able to play the game. If I uncheck my merged patch, I can play just fine. But when I merge my mods, I can't.

 

What happens is in the startup no crash happens and the slideshow just goes as normal. My mouse never appears and I am incapable of activated the GUI that displays the buttons to press play and play the game.

 

So essentially my startup is loading forever, with some graphics playing continuously.

 

I fixed all the errors that fo3 edit found on the merged patch. I also went in and edited every single conflicting field in fo3 edit.

 

I sat down and worked on this problem from like 8pm to 3am and have found no information telling me what is causing this so I have no clue of what to do.

I hope you guys can help. I am lost. Wish I knew what it means by your startup menu not appearing. I am utterly lost as to how to debug that. Maybe I installed darnifiedUI wrong. But, in that case. Why does it work when I don't merge it?

Now its crashing at startup and fo3 edit doesn't tell me whats wrong.

 

Through my modfications to try to fix it ive only made it worse.

 

I think the errors that I got rid of were actually meant to be there, gonna re-install all compability patches.

No main menu is usually an orphaned record. A record in a plugin whose formid does not exist in its master anymore or has been repurposed and is of a different formtype now. You are probably looking for an outdated compatibility patch.

 

If I had to guess, probably "craft wce fook+fwe patch.esp".

 

FOOK2 and FWE. Pick one.

Thank you blove. Atleast I have something to work with now.

 

If its a formID conflict due to overwritten data files, ill just manually update each file and make sure FOOK2 doesn't overwrite anything FWE overwritten.

 

Then ill put fook2 above few in load order and go in with merge patch and make sure only when they conflict that FWE and only FWE gets put in the merge patch.

 

All I honestly want is the extra boost of weapons, I don't plan to use their quests or anything.

 

I already did my playthrough and beat the whole game including all DLCS. Now im gonna sit down and see if I can get this working.

 

Also ill make sure all compability patches are up-to-date.

 

Hopefuly the esp's for fook2 and FWE don't have different formid for common items in the game and I can do something like this, make FOOK thing that its accessing its own files when in reality its just loading FWE items.

 

I refuse to believe you have to pick when they both in nature are merely just additions to the game also they got it working in fook1.0 so why can't it work in 1.2?

alright I fixed the crash at startup. Turns out that DarN who made darnified UI was calling files from the ini he tells you to use that weren't even in the folders he claims them to be in. So I just changed the missing files to one that were there and now I crash no more and darn UI Is working.

 

I hope this helps anyone else who had problems with DarN UI in fallout3.

The darnui description page on modsreloaded has wrong insturctions for modifying the fallout.ini file to use the larger fonts.

 

But the PDF file included with the install has the right instructions.
